The way the engine is turning over , it sounds like the camshaft or a really loose valve. You need to pull the valve cover and check the lash of the intake and exhaust valve. Could be the decompression trigger on the camshaft broken. This is a major job that involves pulling the engine !
Can you try to remove the spark plug from the cylinder and see if it cranks any better. If so, remove valve cover and make sure both valves are set to .004 to .005 thousands of an inch. But it sounds like a bad camshaft. Engine will need to be removed and opened up. Do it. You will have fun. If you keep doing what your doing you will burn up the starter. You have a fun project! Enjoy.
Learned my lesson tears ago when I worked for a local school district. Thirty- five years by the way. But I used to back things out of their trucks over the tailgate. After a while you end up with a tailgate that has a lovely curve to it. Now retired I remove my tailgate on my truck and back things out. I kind of like a straight tailgate. Seems to close so much better that way.
First thing, set parking brake so the safety switches will let you turn it over. 2,check out oil level to see if carb float stuck and flooded crank case. Then check valves. Sometimes the cam malfunctions and the compression release breaks.
Rick Mammana check out the valves it kinda sounds like a valve is out of adjustment listening to it running on your video it's sounds like a valve problem I worked on one just like that and it had the same problem with being hard to start and I found it was the valves just relatch them to the right specs they need to be and you will have an awesome mower
I had the exact same problem with my troy built got a new mower after it broke down got Husqvarna yth18542 and i love it no problems at all even the battery stay charged through winter
I had a no spark issue on a craftsman mower. Though it might have been the coil and was going to go get one but glad i didn't. It was the kill wire. I done bypass switch on it and start first crank now.
I saved up money, got my bonus at work, bought a brand new 54 inch zero turn cub cadet, these things things are not cheap at all. Get her running good!
you need to adjust the gap on the coil thats why it wont rev up if you keep runing it the way it is now you will notice the muffler glowing cherry red and you will overheat the engine lol just a helpful tip :)
Rick Mammana check the valves I work on mowers a lot just figured I would share that with you it sounds like you have a valve out of adjustment you get that taken care of you will have a good mower

Hi.....nice find for free....you can do it. .....you can do it.......yesssss you did it..... wooohooo..... ride em.... Rick...........take care..... Deborah 🇨🇦
Where you hooked the charger up to the battery there is a red rubber cap thing on the battery put it on the red terminal and make sure it goes down all the way on the red terminal
Adjust the valves that's the problem. I had the same problem I adjusted the valves it rolled over great an it fired right up. An you need to gap the coil
It's knocking really bad. It sounds like someone run it out of oil and it's messed up the rod bearing. If you take care of that knocking now, you might end up with a good engine.
Clean the damn terminals. Soak the piston in diesel or anything the old additive from way back marvel mystery. Spray out your carburetor put some gas in and watch it start
The reason for the starter dragging is because with not much of a battery left, that big charger is putting too much AC into the starter. That’s the reason for the loud hum. Now the high pitched hum is just the starter dragging with DC.
Something is a knockin I got a free one in the garage now the deck is off and looks somewhat complete and and complicated i have a snow plow for it laying against the house.
I can't stand watching people who guess what might be wrong im A certified small engine master service technician I don't guess for the problem and i know that these engines are always in need of valve adjustments. This is just laziness and lack of diagnosis this guy should go take small engine repair classes i wouldn't buy A mower from him it probably last about 5 minutes 😂
You wanna know what'd be funny ha ha ha' if you'd hide over there somewhere behind a tree and wait until one of your neighbors started mowing their grass and as soon as they got off to take a break You could run over there and put the free sign on their mower ha ha ha ha' yeah you could do that then start waving at people passing by and a pointing at your neighbors lawn mower. Ha ha ha ha' yeah then just stand over there somewhere like you don't know what's going on. Ha Ha Ha Ha. Yeah boy talk about being funny ha ha ha. ha.
Just keep cranking on it. That's just really good for the starter 😂

Ain't nut'en but nuts and bolts to change out the cam.
probaly bad compression release they love to go on the inteks
Yes Sir sure sounds like a cam problem, check valve lash and feel for the bumb 😊
That was a blast watching you troubleshoot that! Congratulations!!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Hi Rick! Have fun tinkering on it! Thanks for all the videos you do ! Kathy’s too✅
You bet!
You are amazing! I'm so happy you got it running!!!❤😊
Thank you!! 😊

Sweet good job Rick! Keep at it you will get it running right!
Yeah I'll work on it again in a couple days. 👍
The camshaft compression release is broken off; giving it the hard turn-momentary stop-turn motion. *Very* common on these engines.
Sounds like Oliver Wendell Douglas Tractor
👍👍 That darn Mr Haney!
Great video! Glad we could hangout with you guys a bit on a Tuesday. Congratulations nice find! Can’t wait to eat with y’all Friday! Time Ta Eat!!!
Can't wait!
I enjoyed watching you solve the mystery . Good job! My dearly departed husband would tinker like this. I always knew where to find him. I miss him.
Thanks for watching!
Could be a sheared flywheel key too!
adjust the valves
Nice job Rick. Still needs some work, but you’re on the right path.
Yeah it's just fun to try to get it running.
The battery not the big problem 🎉.
Nice Mower, I love FREE.!!!
Me too!
That Intek is toast. Might make a good boat anchor, though. 😁
Yeah probably! 👍👍
Nice clean mower.
👍 Yes! Not bad.
It was working the moment you mowed your tailgate unloading it!🤣

Your welcome glad I could help
Sounds like it’s got some hydro lock going on .
They sold these at Tractor Supply stores
congrats mr rick , o'l huskee is beautiful , thank you for not givin' up on it
Thank you too!
That was awesome and we were rooting for you 🎉
Thanks so much! 👍😁
Sounds like it's catching against the magnito , not gaped
Too much fun. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! 🙂
A lot of people get rid of mowers because they will not start, and it will be something simple,a lot of times.
this thing looks new!
👍👍

Never seen an Intek engine that didn’t have a head gasket go bad.

Hey Rick adjust the valves very easy to do i bet thats it
Briggs and scrapem!
@@samsacre4304 lol their not that bad I got 406 hrs on my la 125 and 103 on my e130 no issues
Man has all those fancy cars and trucks but no ramps???😅
Just take it to small engine shop
It could be the valve lash.
that great looking mower for free???thats a deal!:) Iam a deere guys of course....but wow it looks great!
Yes I was very happy! Still needs a little work. :)

Thanks 👍
Valves are out or the cam compression release is broken as well can cause alot of problems worked on mowers 30 yrs good luck
Thanks! I'll work on it again soon!
That spark when you hooked up the a/c charger to the battery…i thought for a sec you were gonna get shot out the seat😂😂😂 not a good practice…
👍👍
Check the valves and a new starter
Nice work my dude! Btw the mowers I hear in the background at the end of video sound like bad boy mowers
Thanks for watching! 👍👍
If it's free it's for me,that's my motto👍
The starter and the battery
Always use ethanol free gas if you can get it.
Ok! 👍
Go and get you a battery tender I have one on my mower and it keeps the battery charged
Doesn't sound like your compression release is working on your cam
I have a battery tender hooked up to the battery on my riding lawnmower and it keeps the battery charged on my riding lawnmower
That could be one of the problems.but it seems the FLY WHEEL KEY IS SHEARED AND IT THROWS IT OFF TIMING.
👍👍
Don't have enough Amp to turn fast enough. Pull spark plug and turn over
sounds like a broken cam shaft compression release
Where you hooked the charger up to the battery there is a red rubber cap thing on the battery put it on the red terminal and make sure it goes down all the way on the red terminal

Go cook something pickle man lol. Kathy's got this

Valve adjustment or stater
Yes. I'm gonna work on it hopefully tomorrow. :)
Sounds like a Rod knocking.
👍👍
Hey that 'FREE' sign looks like your handwriting... Is someone missing a mower?
😎
That is amazing
👍🙂👍
Starter bed
Hi Rick carb needs cleaning or changed cheap on Amazon
you forgot to gap the coil

I will tell you those have problems with the camshaft going bad
another great video

How can a DC charger put out AC electricity?
@@bertgrau3934 I tell you, that AC starter comment was totally ignorant. And 3 dummys agreed.
@@Joe-b8z4y
Agreed 🤝
A total novice
It's in the engine .
never i seen a new riding lawnmower free
It's not new its about 10 years old. And it still doesn't run right.
I had one similar acting that was a weak starter
👍👍
How’s your john deer mower doing
Good! 👍
Sweet to hear that
I have a free soda machine if you want to come and pick it up. Lol
Na. Hahaha
I’ve got an idea for a video tomorrow go out and buy some wax for it! You must’ve got rid of all your crockpots huh? One day an E-bike now this?
adjust the vavles
I will soon. Thanks!
Hi rick❤
Hi
If it was outside of a Krispy Kreme, you wouldn't have found it.
Check the fly wheel

Well I just got one like it but cost 100 bucks and I’m getting ready to fix it next week after the zero trans stuff
Nice! 👍👍
that has a bad compression release
👍👍
Broken camshaft
It's may be. Cam.
Adjust the valves, problem solved
I will in a few days! Thanks, can't wait to try it!
that was painful to watch
Now give it back to the person who gave it away
