You could probably get up to $700 by me in the Chicago area, but the key is that it is has a shine. Whenever I have sold a tractor, it never mattered how well it cut, but rather how "new" it looked. Kind of blows my mind.

I automatically wash every piece I work on before I start. This not only makes it more enjoyable to work on, but exposes potential issues that might have been covered or disguised with dirt and grime (and chicken manure!). 😉

I had one of these with a kohler command 25 hp and 54 deck. Baught it new at lowes for $2,400
Within one year.. under 20 hours had these issuses:
They are absolute JUNK! They are not lawn garden tractors as advertised the bucket option as well as plow voids the warranty. Wasnt aware tjis until after the 90 day period
the trans is weak and they leak. The frames are notorious for breaking off where the trans bolts to it. The engines are so out of balance they shake the bolts out constantly causing vacume leaks and oul leaks. The regulars dont last. I sat it out to the curb. Its someone's elses problem now

Yes it will run in large motors…. sometimes poorly but with small motors always replace it if you can!!! Even if it’s just the next season!

When I diag an engine the first thing I do is spray 2-stroke fuel into the intake to see if it’ll fire. If it does that already usually eliminates air, compression, timing and spark, leaving only the fuel system if it doesn’t keep running on fuel in the tank.
That diag process sidesteps everything you did, a lot faster and certainly much easier.
Since 90% of small engine starting issues are fuel related, that diag confirms the usual more often than not.

Good question! So I can use the same spray bottle for 2 or 4-stroke engines and so it’ll provide a little lubrication whether I spray into the intake or directly into the cylinder via the spark plug hole. Especially if I want to continue spraying to keep the engine running, so it won’t “wash” a cylinder like straight gas or a volatile.

I have the The YTH2042 and it cuts my grass real nice. I later purchased a complete burned up unit for 100 dollars from a neighbor whose courage engine caught fire. Only damage was a coil wire and plastic engine covers that were melted through the engine block cooling fins. Everything else was in mint shape. Now I have a complete parts mower for all parts needed when necessary. If I had to replace my machine piece by piece, it would be 10 times more than I paid for the parts machine. You paid $50 dollars for a left front wheel and rim and got a free garden tractor...SCORE!!! Great video, and not a bad gamble that's for sure. See you in the next one.

I’m juggling two occupations, as a learning small engine mechanic and as a home baker for 14 years selling two days a week at my roadstand. Add to that keeping up with 20+ active UA-cam channels I watch every week and I’ve had to be selective about which videos I watch (5-7 hours most days) and which ones get put in the holding pattern for when I have more time.
I’ll keep supporting you as best I can. 🔧👍
By my calculation I’ve logged over 5K hours on UA-cam in the almost 3 years I’ve been teaching myself small engine work.

    Yisser. You got lucky.
Several years ago I bought a Murray 46" GT with a 20 HP Briggs for $50. Motor and body were in great shape and the tires were okay. The seller said it ran when stopped but need a starter. It looked like a steal deal.
Replaced the battery, starter, carb, plugs, fuel tank, fuel line, rebuilt the deck, all idlers, belts, blades, amp meter, drive pulley on the transaxle, and various springs. That $50 investment kicked my butt. After almost $1,000 in parts I was finally able to cut grass.
But that was 13 years ago and it still runs. I've replaced the consumables a couple of times since then but it's been a good machine. It's a 1998 or 99 model and tuff as nails.

Your profit didnt include an actual labor amount, your time is worth money. You also didnt include the battery charger (though I would have just fixed the cord).
You did sell it for a reasonable price for a used machine. The local shop will eventually get it and make some money off of it.
For me, I don't flip mowers because the flippers have gotten so shady to where I refuse to be associated with them. However, I do end up going behind them and fixing all the stuff they put lipstick on when they sold it.

    • @LaidOffGarage

I said In video that your profits would be much lower if you had a shop do the repairs. The fact I did it means there is no labor expense. That’d be like putting brakes on your own car and adding a made up labor charge to the price of parts.

Here are two clues - if there is a wire going to the seat ( big clue ) and then there is a wire going to hte carb - you have to be sitting on the seat to start - safeby switch - fuel cutoff. If there is wire to seat but no wire to carb - probably still safty switch - but cuts spark.

$50! You could sell one of the wheels for that. Great deal. Tufftorq K46 gets a bad reputation because mower manufacturers install it in machines which are too heavy or overpowered. Blame the mower makers not Tufftorq!

I was really hoping to find an issue so I had an excuse to bust it apart. Taryl Fixes All has some really informative videos on them!

How the hell do you guys find this things so cheap. I've been looking for riding mower for the past 2 months. Some guy wanted 1500 dollars for a 20 year mower. I guess Europe became insanely expensive.

I’m not sure! I always think it’s cool when I see someone across the pond with a Wheelhorse. They were made about 3 hours from me here in the states!

A 25 horse power Husqvarna is worth between 1500 and 2000 dollars used. That's why the man pulled up with a trailer within minutes 😢
