I'm probably the only sentient who thinks this, but the Federation (eventually) became part of the Systems Commonwealth. I read so much about Roddenberry and it's the only place it fits. I can't think of how else he meant for it to fit.
Watching this I'm having the realization that the Orville really reminds me of this ship style. Unfortunately I don't like this style, it's too weird and many of the other ships in universe don't have those long sweeping booms looping around the ship, meaning they're unnecessary. PS, that means I don't like the looks of Orville either, looks like flying toilet seat. Show is good though.
those booms actually do from what I recall have functions built in them that make the High Guard ships able to smash lots of ships that do not have those booms
Well Andromeda was suppose to be part of the Star Trek family, hence the Commonwealth was their equivalent of the federation of planets. Except, that the Milky way I think was included altogether under it already, something the Federation had not achieved yet.
As I understood it Star Trek and Andromeda are separate to each other like Earth: Final Conflict is. All they have is the same creator. The Systems Commonwealth you could say is the equivalent of the federation of planets. But as they cover in the show its involving 3 Galaxies worth. It also has a time line of their own. To give you an idea in the timeline of the show. Humans made first contact in CY 7055. By the time of the show which is CY 10087 when the Eureka Maru found them. Its about 5167CE/AD. With the systems commonwealth collapse occuring a few years after they get stuck in the black hole. This is why you see so many references to humans that have been away for thousands of years. Plus it would be enough time for genetic manipulation to spread through the human species.
@@horusrage Jep Commonwealth is very similar to the Federation with two differences: 1. Earth was just a member world and unlike to the Federation not a founding Member but the commonwealth existed long before Earth even achieved spaceflight. 2. Unlike the Federation which despises sole build Warships and uses Exploration ships which could also fight in opposite to that the Commonwealth did use an active military. The Glorious-Heritage-Class like the Andromeda was indeed an allrounder starship and feels a little bit like StarTreks Galaxy-Class but is first and foremost a Warship which could also explore if there was nothing to fight against. Others like the Wrath of Achilles class were sole build starship killers (a term used by Captain Hunt to describe the balance of Judgement). Also they painted some ships golden like the Pax Magellanic. So the Commonwealth had no Problem using an active Military and project their power even through means like weapons of mass destruction like the nova bombs.
My favorite was the style around the 20 second markers. The ships the Triums would fly in.
Would love to get hold of the pictures you used in this for the high guard fleet! Those Vedran ships at the end look amazing. nice video
There were more powerful vessels, but the Glorious Heritage class will always be my fav.
that one at 01:17 is called a Siege Perilous Class ship. Very powerful, very destructive.

Did Roddenberry intend all of his series to fit together?
If so, very cool. Asimov (my favorite Sci fi writer of all time) did much the same.
LOVE ANDROMEDA
@jchiefbear Definitely!! These ships were so hard to find!
Such glory!
Yup DSA 1 - Righteous Fist of Heaven, my newer version of this video gives the names of the ships :)
Sci-Fi Lego Just exactly WHERE is the new video you made? I sure would like to see it!
Andromeda needs a way better wiki
Cool :)
DW I love andromeda as well.
What type of ship is at 0:19. Is it DSA type 1?

Always creepy to see the Federation DNA in the ships.
