To solve the Case Of The Slipping Scarf Joint, when I was ready glue on the headstock to the neck, I first applied a strip of double sided tape between the 2 pieces to temporarily join them together correctly. I then put a clamp on them and drilled holes for 2 screws. After removing the screws and tape, I then glued them together, reinstalled the screws, and clamped them back together. I removed the 2 screws after about an hour, then applied more clamps. Next day, I install 2 dowels in the headstock. I found that the double sided tape works well to hold them in the proper position for drilling and clamping.
That's a great idea. I haven't tried a scarf joint yet, but it's in my plans to. Think I'll use your dowel method. Looks good on the back of the neck too. Btw..."Crushed Out" was cool.👍😎🎸🎶
Have you ever tried using salt to stop the pieces from slipping. First, apply the glue, and then add salt to the glue and hold the pieces together using clamps. It's a lot less work.
I’ve done the same thing to connect a heel to the neck. Worked fine. Thanks for the tip.

I thought about using brass pins to the same thing but haven't tried it yet. I thought brass or copper would give it pop.
