Who is Marvel's Romulus? Original Lupine and "Weapon X" Mastermind.

- This video explores the history, powers, and abilities of the Marvel Comics character "Romulus." From being King of the feral Lupine race, to emperor of the Roman Empire, and the likely creator of the "Weapon X" program; Lets take a look at this shadowy enemy of the Wolverine. All including a short, canon biography and my own opinionated "Sage rating."

And then they threw Romulus into the raft and everyone forgot he existed. This is one of marvel's most underrated villains.
Could have been a great enemy for Krakoa. Too late for that though.
Romulus looks like a bigger nd more feral version of wolverine.
A copy cat version of wolverine
And yet he favors Wolvy as the superior evolution
@@TheSonSet in the marvel universe, most mutants with a healing factor also carry the feral gene that slowly turns them into a mindless beast with no hope of returning back, that's why Sabretooth looks more monstreous in his adaptations. The feral gene can be surpressed by overcharging their healing factor with cybernetic adaptations like Wolverine and his adamantium skeleton or simple cancer like Deadpool has.
His real papaw
Romulus is 7 feet tall, yet he looks up to a guy 5'3".
Yeah that is weird.
Good one
that my boy wolverine
everyone 5'3 short are ugly and have no character
@@AyeshSilva-e7e Do you mean wolverine?
In Roman mythology, Romulus and Remus were twin brothers raised by a wolf in the woods.
and sons of Mars.
@Jason Sonic V I'm glad they did or else there'd be no super hero comics at all
@Jason Sonic V who cares
Jason Sonic V literally everything is derived from somewhere else with a spinoff in the entertainment/art industry
@@arx3516 I realize this is a year to 2 years old. I thought I should point out Remus and Romulus are descendants of Troy. Most Italians who hail from Rome to Calabria claim that they are descendants of Troy because of that.
Marvel has many mutants that are 10,000+ years old. Yet they keep giving Apocalypse the false title of First One/first Mutant being from 3000bc...
If Romulus is 10,000s of thousands years old that means he predates the great flood and he could be from Hyberboria of Conan era or Atlantis from Kull's time period. The Eternals, Deviants, first vampires all roamed the earth at time openly. Heck be fun if they revealed that Eternals created Romulus
Brian Mccann that makes so much sense and would be dope to see on screen
If i remember it right there's also a female character that has like psychic or telepathic mutant abilities and she's supposed to be the first and oldest mutant...Xmen vs avengers may be where I read about it
ShalakumX Simba no not true Selene is older than Apocalypse by 5k years and I believe Saul is older than she is if the Xternals are to be believed
These new younger writers ruined Apocalypse by creating these older mutants.
Before Apocalypse was introduced in comics there was many mutants that was older than 10,000 years running around.
Its not new writers ruining Apocalypse.
It's Apocalypse himself ruining himself.
He was Never the First Mutant to begin with.
Why the hell have I never heard of this guy?! He's freaking badass
You got to read wolverine origin to discoverhim
He ends up not being as cool as you’d think at the end of it all.
@@midnightcoolcat2890 Yeah, such a let down he ends up just being an old ass Wolverine fanboy 🤣🤣.
@@princevegeta9763 kinda made me regret reading it. I understand having twists but finding out he was a fraud killed it.
@@midnightcoolcat2890 how was he a fraud
the binding process wasn't just adamnatium. it was a blend of vibranium and adamnatium to get himself a superior advantage over wolverine.
You sir..... are correct! Ideally, I should've been more specific! My bad. Especially because he's from the "Wolvieverse!" I love that class of characters! My point in character descriptions, is to be detailed enough without rambling on for too long. Good one, on that though! My apologies sire (in a British butler accent). You're obviously a fellow Logan fan. LOL!
jcmcclellan82 you mean proto Adamantium like Caps shield? I thought the process was irreplacable.
Perhaps it's a similar metal but not identical?
So I guess he will die in time from metal poisoning.
All forms of Adamantium are created with different Vibranium-Steel mixes, Porto-Adamantium is just one blend, Wolverines Adamantium blend is different than Cap’s and a lot more dense, for example. Romulus as it turns out is just using a different blend of Adamantium as well.
Need a Daken movie. Raised and trained by Romulus in Japan and becomes a Yakuza enforcer/assassin. The Yakuza betray and try to kill him. He then discovers he has healing factor and takes his revenge klling them until he gets to the boss...who is actually Romulus...
That sounds awesome for a movie idea
@Kaian凯安 No, not him! Andrew Koji should play him instead! Daniel Henney lacked screen presence in X-Men Origins!
I like how this channel talks about obscure characters
"How do we make an even MORE powerful Wolverine?"
"...more claws?"
"MORE CLAWS!"
I can't believe I'm saying this, but he sounds even scarier then wolverine 😲😲😲
+Caleb Claunch - Better believe it!!! And I wouldn't be opposed to that statement! Romulus is an absolute BEAST! Period.
Caleb Claunch
I still prefer Deadpool
Wolverine ain't scary, Sabertooth is. And Romulus is scarier
@@colonelsanders1349 ?????????
Marvelous AG Are you on crack?
he had the winter soldier to shoot and kill wolverines wife to get wolverine back into the world and took the baby and brainwashed him to hate his dady
Straight psychopath... Lunatic... But for some reason?... He's still awesome!!! LOL!
@@NewSage true
I would not be surprised if they revealed him to be WOLVERINES' and SABERTOOTHS' ancestor. That would make a nice story.
wonder if hes twin healing factor is better as she doesnt shown any signs of aging like him with his hair
every1 knows womens Hairs re much stronger.. ^^
He came waaaay before the cavemen he could've been the first man-like creature. That's what I feel marvel was getting at.
That would mean that Wolverine has divine blood in his veins, since Romulus is the son of Ares, quite fitting for Logan to be descended from the god of war...
@@arx3516 literaly was thinking about that this whole morning.
Dude i just subscribed yesterday to give you a boost! Your channel is LIT, alot of Heroes here I totally dont know about. I am a comic book fan but im some what only see them thru TV,Cinema or UA-cam, so i only see the ones on mainstream. Keep doing what you do and ill try catch up of all these folks here. GL!
He needs to be in the upcoming Marvels Wolverine game
I always loved the characters that similiar to my fave characters.
There are many examples:
Dante, vergil
Venom, carnage
Batman, owlman
Hulk, red hulk
Flash, reverse flash and other thousands of examples.
So you did a very well job cuz i like the characters who weren't known like others. That's why i subscribed. Keep doing good work.
I could Imagine Hugh Jackman as Romulus
Some people say that Romulus and Wolverine's older brother John Howlett Jr; who is known as White Ghost in Marvel Universe 4011, as opposed to Universe 616 where he most likely is dead, are actually the same person. The only problem with this is how do you explain his sister Remus and the fact that he has allegedly been alive since the time of the Romans, he wasn't actually part of the Lupine race as Remus reveals that the story was just put there to distract Wolverine while Romulus harvested adamantium. Meaning his most likely origins were that of a mutant born in ancient Rome. However, it is still possible that he wasn't even that old and that his memories were tampered with aswell by the Weapon Plus program. The rumour is that Romulus is John Howlett Jr and that he was Weapon IX or Weapon 9 before Wolverine. You can debunk this by citing Wolverine relating Remus's scent to Romulus, meaning they actually were related, so unless Wolverine and John Howlett Jr have a sister they don't know about (considering she was flirting with Logan it would be incest) it's pretty safe to assume that John Howlett Jr and Romulus are two different people or rather mutants! It's like when everyone including apparently those in Hollywood tried to make Victor Creed and Dog Logan the same mutant, when again, they were not, it is possible that through their parents there could have been some relationship between Dog Logan and Victor Creed and it would be fun to speculate. Here is an interesting fan theory Victor Creed is Dog Logan's half brother and John Jr's cousin through his mother Victoria. Okay just to make it less confusing: James Howlett was later given the nickname Logan and was called Wolverine. He was supposed to be the son of John Howlett Sr and Elizabeth Howlett *maiden name Hudson* but was actually an illegitimate son of Thomas Logan and Elizabeth Howlett, his older brother John Howlett Jr was supposedly also an illegitimate son of Thomas Logan, but seeing that contrary to the movies it's actually more likely that the mother passes on the mutant gene, then Elizabeth is the reason for John Jr and James's mutant powers, not Thomas or John Sr, so it's entirely possible and more likely that John Sr and Elizabeth were John Jr's parents, whereas Thomas and Elizabeth were James's parents (given the resemblance between Thomas and James). So John Sr and Elizabeth have a son John Jr, but what if Victoria Creed, Sabretooth's mother was actually John Sr's sister, her maiden name being Victoria Howlett (facially she kind of looks like she could be his sister) and has a short fling with Thomas Logan while she is married to Zebadiah Creed as they loved each other ever since Thomas was made groundskeeper of her brother's estate when she used to live there, but couldn't do anything about it because of social class implications so they have an illegitimate son, but out of fear she hands their son over to Thomas to look after and lies to Zebadiah about it telling him that the baby died after it was born, the last time they meet whilst weeping she tells Thomas that they can't be together and that she can no longer see him and that it is for the best and that he must take care of their son. Heartbroken, angry and confused Thomas becomes an alcoholic who abuses his son, especially for associating with the Howletts and gives him the name Dog out of anger at the social class and status situation. Sorry I know this was about Romulus and John Jr but the point is even if they are not directly connected you can still make the story interesting, hell maybe I should write for Marvel Comics lol
That is one extensive genealogy.
Dog you the shit bra. Just when I thought comics was getting stale in my eyes you've lit a new fire in me. Thank you and keep up the awesome work. Could you do one of how Rouge actually got her powers
I would like to see him to get introduce as one of MCU's Wolverine's villains in the MCU.
Shelli Ingle should be played by Hugh jackman

Romulus and Remus. .. a great piece of historical legends
My little brother just read about him a few days ago reading through my Marvel Encyclopedia book. He is a cool character!
Nice presentation. Many facts, few suppositions, no hype. And your introduction did not irritate and make me want to switch channels. Also, good job in explaining a character I'd never heard of. I shall subscribe.
+Dave Rhoden - 😅 Cool bro! I shall attempt to be worthy of thine subscription. Have a good one!
i like this character
+Alexander Blankson - No joke... He's one of my favorites. Period. 😎 He's been moving like a Boss for thousands of years! LOL!
Great channel. I thought I was the only one who loved these characters (Pitt, Badrock etc)
+Private Private - Thanks! I'm glad you're liking the channel, and sharing the "vision" of its content! Have a good one! 😁
Romulus should be in the Externals, along with his sister and Nightcrawler’s dad, Azazel. All immortal.
Why? The Eternals are Thanos's race, they have nothing to do with Romulus?
Externals…are immortal Mutants, not Eternals.
This channel is pretty cool. Comics channels always talk about the popular hero's but it's cool hearing about more obscure ones I haven't heard or aren't too familiar with.

This is dope.. Im intrigued
Romulus is one of my favorite characters, next to Daken and Sabretooth when it comes to Wolverine villains. Sadly he hasn't been utilised so much in the comics
Love for marvel to make this animated movie

Very well explained I'm enjoying your channel I was wondering if you ever did anything on BRONZE TIGER?
Are those the same Adamantiun Wolverine possess or different?

Wow. I see thumbnails of characters not known to many including me so i subscribe
Thanks a lot bro! Glad you like and appreciate the channel! There's much more to come. Have a good one!
It’d be cool if he were wolverines brother that was supposedly killed before he was born. The one they talk about who had bone claws and scared his moms back
That was wolverines half brother. Not dog
Romulus is a older more feral white haired version of wolverine and a powerful lupine and also larger at the height of 7 feet
Pretty clever to use the named Romulus and Remus, the founders of the Roman Empire
Why is that clever?
Best explanation for romuluse thank you
Romulus, father of Rome and probably the forefather of the romulans..uhh,wait a minute
+kirby march Barcena - 😆 I know right?! Who knows... This dude might just be a "multi-brand" threat! Next thing we know, he might be holding down Star Wars, too!
Multi-brand threat?!? He must be more powerful than the one above all!
He didn't kill wolverine's wife, it was the winter soldier
We'll never heard of this guy, and I don't remember him wolverine orgins comic. I guess I have some reading to do... Thanks for the info

He's an interesting character that's for sure.
Somehow, I figured that you'd rate him as a 7. lol. Cool vid bro!

I wonder what would happen if the venom symbiot got on Romulus or even Blade.
He would become GEMULUS
Venom would be having very interesting conversations with them
How can his brain sustain this load of memories stored for thousands of years
Terragamerz the 8th hoe-cage maybe his phsycic abilities play a part in that
Evolved from wolves, emperor of rome, 2 sets of claws. Give me a break.

I tend think he should be more connected to Apocalypse if he is that old.
can u do a video on ronin from the new avengers
I enjoyed it
Glad you did bro! Thanks for your support! Have a good one!
Amazing Characters little use! If I had my own Comic Universe I won't let down every new character and make them expand their storylines.
How does Romulus fit in with the likes of Apokalypse or other villains?
Great vids but Romulus doesn't have claws those are gloves with blades. Keep up the good work man love your vids.
Eric B- a Muur that's not what he said
+Eric B- a Muur - Thanks a lot bro! I thought I made the distinction. He does have claws (like Sabretooth), but his metallic claws were on his gauntlets. I believe that's what you were referring to, and you're right! He did, eventually, end up getting adamantium claws implanted in the same configuration as the ones on his gauntlets! Either way, he's a beast though! 😎 Thanks again, and have a good one!
New Sage oh I didn't know, that's dope. I probably misheard.
New Sage you did make the distinction. You were very clear & articulate about pointing that out.
+Eric B- a Muur - Oh. You're cool. I probably just didn't say it clearly enough! Thanks for keeping me honest in my vids though. I like that! 😎
Have you ever done a vid’ on Logans brother from Wolverine: The End? If not.....
This storyline is why I sold all my comics before the crash. I knew it was over after feral Wolverine and then the Clones. I mean, why would he have four weird claws and the rest of the line have none?
sub earned
He is literally just bigger Wolverine
one more thing.what I don't get is you said like wolverine drugs like traqulizers have no effect.if drugs have no effect then why is Logan always drinking.if drugs don't work alcohol wouldn't have any effect either.I always wondered this.any one has any theroy on this would love to hear
I must read this comic it looks interesting.
I have a fan theory about Romulus... What if Frank Castle was a part of the weapon x program but no one even knows it? Before you say naaaw let me explain. In Punisher MAX: Born, Frank was talking to something inside himself that seemed like the devil. This devil was goading and goading him into becoming the killer he eventually would become. When Frank eventually faces death and says yes to the offer he goes apeshit and kills three dozen Vietnamese soldiers while soaking up seven bullets. At the end of the book this devil says that his choice will come at a cost. What I'm getting at is what if this devil was Romulus and he actually was the one who was the mastermind of the deaths of Castle's family? What if he also affected Castle's life in the shadows throughout the years like he did with all of the other weapons? It's a thought. Another thing to consider is that Romulus may have telepathic abilities also. He does nearly kill wolverine every time they meet healing factor and all, and most of us know what came out of Punisher vs. Daken. Its a pretty legit theory.
Other than looking cool, kinda, what's the purpose of that thumb blade? Lol, seems like it has little use.
Would be cool, probably have to be in a version in another dimension similar due to the eternals. In pre Roman times when the brothers raised by female wolf. Romulus was one of the brothers and if you think about it, it can be tied into viking history from the wolf in Thor ragnarok. Odins 1st daughter's pet though male, has to have a mother...
So the bone claws and the big ass nails from Wolverine and Sabretooth are part of the lupines physiology or they are an individual mutation?
It seems like all lupines have some type of "claws" in some fashion or another. It's part of their lineage. But they're individualized as well. In my opinion; It seems as if Romulus has a little more in common with Sabretooth than Logan. When considering the "fingernail" claws, larger stature, and feral seeming nature (i.e. - I didn't say it, but Romulus prefers to run around naked!). So it's kinda like the wolf or feline species. There's many species within the group. But they have their own unique looks and traits.
New Sage
I like this channel but... in this video you said Rom killed Itsu. Granted Rom had something to do with it, but he didn't do the killing himself. Iirc He had Winter Solider do the deed.
+Khaaliqu Wilcox - I got you. More appropriately... He's BEHIND the killing. Yeah... He's kind of the mastermind BEHIND the scenes in a lot of drama in Logan's life! 👍
He definitely has the look to keep one wondering
+Isiac Artison - Yeah. He just LOOKS like a BOSS! 😎
@SAGE CAN YOU DO A VIDEO OF WILD THING WOLVERINES DAUGHTER?
Sounds like he will be a future player.
3:25 Romulus trolling Wolverine
I thought this character was going to be a person from Roman Mythology at first.
this guy is really cool
Him and Apocalypse should team up. I doubt he’d agree to be a horsemen but you never know
Wait I thought he was a future version of Daken
So is he like wolverines ancestor
He looks like he could be the father or grandfather of Wolverine but ik they aren't related just talking about his looks
What's the name of this beat
I'd like to see him in a movie or something
they totally screwd up with Romulus, he was the son of Mars wich is present in the MU, and later ascended to godhood ,that's his prominent aspect in the legend, another important aspect is that he KILLED his brother Remus! Why make him some some sort of mutant? he could be an excellent enemy for Hercules.
that beat tho
I know right?!... LOL! Thanks and have a good one!
nice video , I just think it would've been better if you didn't flash a new pic like every 3 seconds. I kept pausing so I could spend more time looking at the artwork.
Yeah I heard about this dude he is crazy.
Romulous looks like he could be the ancestor of Wolverine and Sabertooth.
He suppossedly is! 😎👍
New Sage that would mean that Romulous is fighting his own great great great x500 grandsons.... I guess the rage and family disputes run in the genetics.

Given how fast wolverine's healing factor is, he shouldn't even age one bit, he should look the same forever.
