I'm looking to adopt 2 piggies. They're both Absyssians and one (I'm pretty sure) has some agouti colouring bc she has 2 different colours in her spots. They're a girl (2) and neutered boy (3). Just inquired, but wish me luck in getting my first piggies!! Update; I got them!! It also seems like my boy has some longhaired genes in him bc he has long hair on his butt and nowhere else. My guess is Sheltie. He also has a similar colouring on his face like a Dutch crested but only has colour on his head, not his butt. Their names are now Apollo and Artemis
Very informative video with lots of cute piggies! Also fun fact, the agouti coloring gets its name from a genus of rodents called agoutis, which happen to be closely related to the caviidae family. They kind of look like long stretched out guinea pigs with that ticked coloration
@@transandpetsummm…. They have some similarities but Guinea pigs are more work and money but they’re definitely worth it, Guinea pigs also normally have more personality! ( I’ve owned both)
My girls are a mix, and both have different hairstyles, but are sisters! Daisy is an American Shorthair for sure! She has a slick, short coat that is mostly black but has small, golden patches here and there (almost agouti in nature! They start at the base black and end with gold which makes it more subtle). Her sister, Honey, is more fluffy, and is mostly black but has a white lip/chin (which is super cute!), and small grey-ish faint patches here and there (similar in agouti style) but less than her sister. Her hair is longer, and around her ears, it stands up. She also has a thin flap of fur that extends over her bum. I call it her "tailcoat", because that's what it reminds me of! She is American Shorthair I believe, but her hair is much thicker and longer than a typical short hair like her sister! If anyone can tell me what they think my girls are based on this basic description, do let me know!! I can try to upload a video with a few pictures/clips of them to my channel to see if anyone can identify what genes have gone into them! ❤ Edit: Upon further investigation, I noticed that the hair around Honey's head/neck/shoulders stands a bit on end, and it looks almost like her hair is trying to form a rosette on the back of her head, but is flat on the front. It almost looks like the hair on thee back of her head, closer to her neck is fanned out... I really would love to find out what breeds they are! They are definitely not pedigrees by any means, but I would love to know what breeds made Honey's lovely coat!

Omg I never heard of an agouti before and now I know my pig Jon is one and I would always discribe him as each individual hair having multiple colours on it!😅😂 🐹

Several years ago I went to a Guinea pig show in Sydney ... just to see such a show, as in the past I had bought a couple to help my grand daughters understand and learn the responsibility of owning a pet ... There was this Amber coloured long hair one with a young teen girl who had a matching hair colour just like her "Winning Pig" ... it was adorable...
Every single vlog I watch about piggies I learn something (or many things!) new. It’ll always be really interesting to puzzle out the breed or mix of breeds in a herd, and I love that piggy personality seems to be intertwined with how they look ... but I bet whatever I think I will look for when adopting a herd, I bet it won’t be quite as I expect in the end! Like humans and other animals, it really is the connection you first make that matters ☺️ And I can officially add Lyra to my list of favourite internet piggies ... absolutely adorable 🥰 🐹

OOOOOOH so my Cami is mostly Peruvian and Oxy is something between Abisinian and Peruvian. They are both so damn adorable, fluffy and truest me, Cami HATES when I have to cut her hair, she loves her hair but I need to mantain it or she looks like a galoping roomba
I have 3 female Guinea pigs they are all tri-colour, one is American, One Is American Crested and the other I think is probably a cross between various different breeds but looks close to an Alpaca guinea pig! Thanks for this video it was very interesting to learn what breeds my girls are! x
Wow thank you for your videos but this one is fabulous. I had no idea there were so many different types. My boys Dash, WomWom, Stiles and Jasper couldn’t be more different. I will have to re-watch a few times to get their breeds sorted. Dash is orange and really curly but his brother WomWom looks like a Wombat hence the name. His face looks almost rat-like, without the smooth sculpted classic Capybara type nose. I think I almost saw one like him in this video. His colouring is also like none I've seen before... My breeds: American short-haired (crested) Toast Rough haired (Abyssian) Fairy Toast is a female crested American short-haired guinea pig who is one guinea pig, she is a solid color guinea who is a tanish color! Fairy is a abyssian piggy who has some fewer rosettes then I’ve seen, she has two colors, a solid white, and a little bit of brown patches around the eyes and maybe on the body.
I just got Felix on Christmas Eve and of course he’s been pooping a lot. It’s good poop but this morning I saw some brownish like stuff up where his food is. It almost looked as if it was diarrhea. Is that possible

I have 3 guinea pigs twizle, twiglet and twilight, twiglet and twilight have silky fur twiglet has a black head and a white body covered in black spots and twilight is just black) and twizle still confuses me because she has white fur, fur that look like ginger, some sort of grey and she has red eyes but her fur is like a Teddy guinea pigs she confuses be so much(sorry that was long) also this video really helped:)
OMG We are new to the fur babies and we have 2 Lucky is the American short hair he is like caramel and white. He was the boss until Gizzmo came in and took over he is an pedigree aby and he is black and white. Due to his fur it makes his face look pointy like a possum which makes him such a cutie, my husband got me Gizzmo after we almost lost him due to covid we all got it but he has health issues, so it was an I love you thank you gift, he tells Gizzmo you have a face that only your mom can love. They are so spoiled and ive had them for some time I couldnt have them in the same cage but its more like your opened up cage and they finally are together, Lucky pushed through since it was divided I was to scared because Lucky was here first.But he kept at it and pushed through when i was not near them and now they are brothers and the baby Gizzmo bullies him, he is the boss. I have them so spoiled im ready for one more but my husband said Im going to turn into a crazy cat lady with Guinea Pigs, I dont care i think one more will be just fine.
I used to have a Rex except a neighbors cat grabbed her, my mum came rushing outside and the cat dropped her off a 2 meter high fence and she fell and broke her shoulder bone and jaw bone. We took her to the vet but unfortunately they couldn’t fix her :(
My mommy piggie has white, brown, blonde and lilac. She was a gorgeous runt. She darkened up as she got older but was quad colored when she was a baby.
I have 8 1 Peruvian - he looks like a little punk rocker 2 American short hair crested - she has orange on her nose and half her butt/1leg 3 American short hair bi-color - she has white brown and orange 4 dutch - may have some satin as her momma is next 5 satin/ American crested kinda - she is a shiny black piggie with a crest that has like 4 strands white and one foot has some white fur at the base 6 American short hair bi-color - as with 3 she is white brown and orange but her hair is a little longer 7 may be one of the foxes or agouti martins - she has a small bit of tan on her tummy but most of her fur is grey with a white patch around her back hip 8 agouti marin - she is the sister of 7 and has a dark brown base with specs of lighter brown
My boy that I got from Petco was a satin and they told me he was an American. But he was a a all black satin and ended up with cancer and his bones were brittle and his immune system couldn’t fight anything off so he ended up passing away. He was my whole world
I have an albino tricolour with a white crest and a tricolour predominantly black and white guinea pig with random splotches of brown on her body and around one eye. Still not sure what they'd be classed as.
We rescued two guinea pigs and it said both were boys and a week later we found out on got pregnant so we put them in separate cages one was albino and the dad was brown,tan bud black he had 0 white and the mom was the albino one. Me and my family went camping and when I came back she gave birth to 3 pigs and we didn’t think any survived. But I heard a little squeak so I lifted up her house and there was a little pig she was the only one to survive out of the 3 they came out a month late so I’m surprised any survived and she has black brown tan and white so she’s half calico and half albino which is really cool. Sadly both the parents passed away but the baby is now 3 years old and healthy
my piggie has short hair, no "dandelion poofs" (rosettes) and he has that white stripe going down his nose. His right eyes is black, and his left eye is like a reddish golden color. He also has a zigzag going down his back of white and that reddish golden color, and his belly has a half and half of reddish gollden on one side, and white on the other going down his belly. Definitely an interesting-colored piggy.
i had a black and whit piggy he had 2 big black spots on one side (one near his head and one near the but) as well as longer hair and he also had a lill crest. it reminded me of the Japanese yoki 'kappa' that have a little crest on there head that holds water. i see media that potrayes them with like leaf hair that kinda sprouts out form that. Anyways, that was a super long way of saying his nickname was 'little kappa' C:

My breeds: American short-haired (crested) Toast Rough haired (Abyssian) Fairy
Toast is a female crested American short-haired guinea pig who is one guinea pig, she is a solid color guinea who is a tanish color!
Fairy is a abyssian piggy who has some fewer rosettes then I’ve seen, she has two colors, a solid white, and a little bit of brown patches around the eyes and maybe on the body.
I just got Felix on Christmas Eve and of course he’s been pooping a lot. It’s good poop but this morning I saw some brownish like stuff up where his food is. It almost looked as if it was diarrhea. Is that possible
I have an idea of what colors I'm looking for but thats just baseline for me. Once I meet them ill know which ones are going to ve good for me. Theyll choose me.

I have 3 guinea pigs twizle, twiglet and twilight, twiglet and twilight have silky fur twiglet has a black head and a white body covered in black spots and twilight is just black) and twizle still confuses me because she has white fur, fur that look like ginger, some sort of grey and she has red eyes but her fur is like a Teddy guinea pigs she confuses be so much(sorry that was long) also this video really helped:)

OMG We are new to the fur babies and we have 2 Lucky is the American short hair he is like caramel and white. He was the boss until Gizzmo came in and took over he is an pedigree aby and he is black and white. Due to his fur it makes his face look pointy like a possum which makes him such a cutie, my husband got me Gizzmo after we almost lost him due to covid we all got it but he has health issues, so it was an I love you thank you gift, he tells Gizzmo you have a face that only your mom can love. They are so spoiled and ive had them for some time I couldnt have them in the same cage but its more like your opened up cage and they finally are together, Lucky pushed through since it was divided I was to scared because Lucky was here first.But he kept at it and pushed through when i was not near them and now they are brothers and the baby Gizzmo bullies him, he is the boss. I have them so spoiled im ready for one more but my husband said Im going to turn into a crazy cat lady with Guinea Pigs, I dont care i think one more will be just fine.

I used to have a Rex except a neighbors cat grabbed her, my mum came rushing outside and the cat dropped her off a 2 meter high fence and she fell and broke her shoulder bone and jaw bone. We took her to the vet but unfortunately they couldn’t fix her :(

My mommy piggie has white, brown, blonde and lilac. She was a gorgeous runt. She darkened up as she got older but was quad colored when she was a baby.

1 Peruvian - he looks like a little punk rocker
2 American short hair crested - she has orange on her nose and half her butt/1leg
3 American short hair bi-color - she has white brown and orange
4 dutch - may have some satin as her momma is next
5 satin/ American crested kinda - she is a shiny black piggie with a crest that has like 4 strands white and one foot has some white fur at the base
6 American short hair bi-color - as with 3 she is white brown and orange but her hair is a little longer
7 may be one of the foxes or agouti martins - she has a small bit of tan on her tummy but most of her fur is grey with a white patch around her back hip
8 agouti marin - she is the sister of 7 and has a dark brown base with specs of lighter brown
I have a tri colours guinea pigs (2) and they are both American short haired guinea pigs :))

My boy that I got from Petco was a satin and they told me he was an American. But he was a a all black satin and ended up with cancer and his bones were brittle and his immune system couldn’t fight anything off so he ended up passing away. He was my whole world
I have an albino tricolour with a white crest and a tricolour predominantly black and white guinea pig with random splotches of brown on her body and around one eye. Still not sure what they'd be classed as.
We rescued two guinea pigs and it said both were boys and a week later we found out on got pregnant so we put them in separate cages one was albino and the dad was brown,tan bud black he had 0 white and the mom was the albino one. Me and my family went camping and when I came back she gave birth to 3 pigs and we didn’t think any survived. But I heard a little squeak so I lifted up her house and there was a little pig she was the only one to survive out of the 3 they came out a month late so I’m surprised any survived and she has black brown tan and white so she’s half calico and half albino which is really cool. Sadly both the parents passed away but the baby is now 3 years old and healthy
my piggie has short hair, no "dandelion poofs" (rosettes) and he has that white stripe going down his nose. His right eyes is black, and his left eye is like a reddish golden color. He also has a zigzag going down his back of white and that reddish golden color, and his belly has a half and half of reddish gollden on one side, and white on the other going down his belly. Definitely an interesting-colored piggy.

i had a black and whit piggy he had 2 big black spots on one side (one near his head and one near the but) as well as longer hair and he also had a lill crest. it reminded me of the Japanese yoki 'kappa' that have a little crest on there head that holds water. i see media that potrayes them with like leaf hair that kinda sprouts out form that. Anyways, that was a super long way of saying his nickname was 'little kappa' C:
