Today I was lying on the couch with one on top of me, and I dozed off. When I woke up, she was just sitting there waiting, as good as can be. They do still squeal for a second when I lift them up from the cage, but they get over it quick. Time for some cuddles right now!
Pedro is sooooo adorable! Your piggies are all cute, but Pedro touches me especially, maybe because he was a rescue. Seeing him now, safe and snuggly, in the left corner of the video just melts my heart.
I just got 2 guinea pigs yesterday, both males and incredibly shy since it's been almost less than 24 hours since they've been brought home, but it makes me so incredibly happy that they already feel comfortable enough with hand-feeding, they're more than willing to get close to my hand and sniff it, while always getting close to me in general. I'm absolutely excited for what the future has in store with them

He wheeks, zoomies and popcorns though. I did set him up free range from the get go and i honestly think he is a miracle. However he is not ok with physical touches yet though he runs all around me and will sit with me. Thank you for this.

Thank you for these super useful videos! I just got two male Guinea pigs named Dirtblock and Soap. They are very skittish as they come from a farm and were barely handled at all. They’re both around 3 months, so I’ve got lots of time to tame them. It’s their 4th day with me and they are now willing to eat their veggies when I’m sitting next to the cage, but any movement still scares them. It’s gonna be a long and slow process but I’m feeling good about it and they’re adorable. Again, thanks for making these informational videos. You have some great tips and it’s reassuring to hear I’m doing things right for my piggies. (One of them even popcorned yesterday. I’m so happy to see them starting to get comfy in their new home)

Your video made me feel much better about our progress! I’ve had my two boys about six months and we are finally at hand feeding and they will stand on their back legs to reach for food. I don’t get inside of their floor time cage, but I sit with them the whole time, talking to them. They will let me scratch their heads, especially if I am reaching inside of a hidie. Over all, they still don’t love to be reached for so lifting them while they are inside a sack is helpful. Thank you for the video! I’ve tried to stay consistent with the time I spend with them. They aren’t hard to “tame”, you just have to spend time and handle them regularly!
Hi Dawn - that's great so glad it came in handy! And yes patience and keeping up a routine is key. Six months is still very young, they will change a lot in the next six months 😀
Great videos! You're so sweet, it shows how much you love guinea pigs when you talk. Will definitely show these videis to my 6 year old daughter who is a new mum of 2 piggies. Thankyou.
You are fantastic! Thank you for all your info. I’m learning more as my kids are getting busier as they get older and it looks like ‘mom’ is becoming the pigs main caregiver. I love your accent and your piggies!! Keep up the great work!!
Right now I’m focusing on the health of one of my piggies as he’s sick and needs regular checks, medication and extra care right now. But the others I’m just focusing on hand feeding some veggies, and when my husband cleans the cage fully out, I will sit with the piggies with some veggies. We have two cages set up right now. So lots of work. But doing the best we can during some difficult times.
Thank you so much I love your guinea pig content and your videos are so helpful I am a first time owner for 4 months now and bagel (my guinea pig) is still warming up to me before I watched this video I was really mean in my guinea pigs eyes I was holding her to much and petting and she didn't have a hideout but now I'm alot more educated due to this video. I'm in my room with her right now next to her cage and she's eating her veggies . Thank you for your help!
I really enjoy watching your Guinea pigs videos. I adopted two baby girls they are just two months old and I have been watching all sorts of youtube videos on how to care for them. I like your videos the most, they are a lot fun to watch. I just love my little Guineas pigs soooo much :)
You are a ray of sunshine, these videos always are super cute and you’re always super cheerful! So relaxing to watch and I don’t even have piggies anymore lol
Thanks Sarah, what a great video with some really helpful tips. My piggies are very tame like yours but I remember our first 3 girls used to squeal and even dig at the floor to try to escape being picked up when we first had them which was awful. Can’t imagine that 3 years on now as they all come running and wheeking when I come into the room!! Food, affection, patience and time are really key to winning your piggies’ trust. A couple of mine still do try to wriggle when I’m putting them back into their cage and the ‘popping them down backwards trick’ always works a treat and it’s very safe-they just potter off calmly! Yes, Pedro you are the loveliest little piggy soul- so loving and affectionate- bless him xx 😘
I have two girlies (sisters) that I just rescued four days ago, and they are currently kind of comfortable eating from my fingers. Previous owners accidentally had babies, but treated them super well and handled them often, so they came from good roots! Just needed a new home because there were too many piggies in the home! I can also usually stick my fingers or hands in the cage while they are eating hay if I move slowly, or I can play with their toys while they eat and they don't care, or they try to play with me. They still run a bit but are learning that when I get up or move it is not always to bother them, and one of my girls, Daisy, has made a habit of sleeping out in the open, sprawled out with her eyes closed which is a huge step that even some long time owners don't even get! I am very proud of them!! They are only a little over a month old and are very spunky and confident, even for their age! After they get over the initial fear of being picked up and are tucked into my chest, they calm down and make cute little noises (the kind they make when they're just out and about, eating) so think that's a good thing! They don't squirm or try to run away when I pet them in my arms, and often try to climb up my chest toward my face or explore my arms! I am just so proud of them and don't have many other places to talk about it, so I thought I'd share here! If this is only four days, imagine where we'll be in a month! I love my piggos (Daisy and Honey), they are the best thing for me! I have had a lot of health issues lately and have recently become disabled, so I can't go to school and have no one to talk to outside of my family, so being able to sit by the cage while they eat and just talk to them, or have someone to hang out with while I eat pizza or a vegan burger is just so nice! I love finding them fresh veggies and seeing which ones they like! (Not a fan of strawberries, zucchini, cucumber, or bell peppers so far, but love carrots, celery, romaine lettuce, kale, parsley/thyme, and celery leaves so far, although I only feed them lettuce and kale daily and switch other things out depending on how often they can have it!) They also aren't a fan or orchard hay, but wheek for Timothy, so I may venture out to find other hays to see what they like (thinking of meadow next!) I love your videos and they have been so helpful! Removed my hay rack thanks to your wonderful "what they don't need" video! Much love from Daisy, Honey, and I! ❤❤ Happy holidays!
Mine love it when I use a finger tip from the end of their nose. Up between their eyes then down their back. They also enjo when I use a thumb and forefinger and stroking/ massaging both sides of their neck.
Just got my two piggies a couple days ago. One is sooo shy. The other lets us pet her already. 😊 Just made fleece liners for their cage, from your tutorial. Love your videos. 🥰
I am 12 years old, i first got my 2 boy guinea pigs in 2019 and i have 6 now. I adopted a new girl who was pregnant which came along with 3 new guinea pigs and it didn’t take long for them to get used to us but when our 5 year old guinea pig died we were devastated so we got a new baby boy this year but he is still very scared of us and this video helped so much! He is definitely a lot more welcoming but still a bit scared. Trust takes time! Thank you for this video.
This is really helpful and really reassuring! I have some rescue guineapigs and the process is slow, but they're gradually beginning to trust me :)) I have one named Pedro too!
OMG I laughed so hard when one was gradually chomping down a long blade of grass and another one came and just snipped it in two for themself. so cute.
These are great tips! As a little twist on the first tip that I've done, is you can read to a timid guinea pig. 😊📖🐹 (By the way, I just love the captions you include of your piggies talking--it makes the videos such fun.)
Thank you for this video! My piggies get grumpy if I try to fuss them without giving them a treat first.. I'm starting to think they're just training me! 😂❤️
I had an old hooded top with a pocket on the front...my piggies would sit for hours on my lap hiding away and getting a stroke..they loved it...good way to bond aswell.
Yes, it worked well for me when ours first arrived and really hadn’t been handled at all. A large Romaine leaf or a dandelion leaf from the garden are both ideal!
Our 2 new babies are quite timed but we did hand feed them today - day 3. We’ve done 5-10min pats per day too. I have been doing the talking but their are more tips here we’ll try! Patience, pantience! : ) Also - that grey Guinea pig at 12 mins 30 is particularly adorable (all of them being adorable - of course!)
@vanessakopacz3077 Yeah but you could have also ignored that other comment. They just said they are quite tamed not fully. So ur commentar was actually rlly unnecessary too. Just saying
@vanessakopacz3077 also I am way older than you and ur telling me to shush. But anyways u said ur guinea pig is sneezing much right? It could be bc of the bedding. If u have Wood shavings or something I might would change it
we've had our piggies a week and they had their first lap time today. They were very scared at first and just stayed frozen but after a few minutes they started eating from our hands which was nice
1:45 I read my books in their presence and I think that helps a lot instead of just random blathering if you find it hard to just randomly talk to nobody
Thanks! This video helped so much :) I recently got my first 2 guinea pigs. They are sisters and when I sit in their cage with them and hand feed them, Marshmallow will come up to me and climb on me whereas Brownie will stay in a corner and barely come up to me.
Awh thank you glad this helped! It's very common for them to be quite different in personality - keep up the good work with Brownie and eventually she will come round, this exact thing happened with Roxy and Phoebe 😃
I just rehomed my pigs to my co worker I'm a nurse and had no time during the covid always working. I'm so sad I had them since they were babies and they are 1yr old two boys. And when I watch your videos it makes me soooooo sad because you taught me so much of taming feeding bathing EVERYTHING LITERALLY. My boys were so spoiled I do get to see them and make sure they are doing well I even baby sit them time to time. So yeah keep up the good work.
your tips really help me, i got guinea pig last weeek on friday, and i wasnt really ready yet, but now i found your yt account that is completely helpful with tips, tysm! I just need a bigger cage and another piggy since i only have one. I named him Toffi:)
I’m a new piggie mom and feel like I’ve got some trusting piggies. They get excited when they hear my voice, run to the entrance of the cage and eagerly take food from my hand. They will eat out of my hand, one actually seems to like me to hold her food for her so she doesn’t have to (spoiled I know, but I love it). I feel like they trust me quite a bit but they don’t like to be picked up or out of cage time. I’ve tried the hat trick which worked great at first, even got one of my piggies to sleep while holding her in the hat next to my chest and talking/petting her. It was so special and adorable. But I feel like they’ve regressed and now know my hat trick leads to cuddles, and don’t go in. They are young, so I thought it would be best to try and do as much as I can with them while they are young to show them they can trust me. But maybe out of the cage time isn’t ideal when they are young? I also bought a large “play pin” for them to get some out of the cage time in and they didn’t seem to enjoy it. They just seemed scared so I felt guilty and haven’t done it since. I’m just trying to find the balance of pushing them a little, but not too much and terrifying them. Thanks for any advice you can offer 😊
Oh, thank you for this video! I was upset and didn't believe that it is possible to make friendship with my guinea pigs But I opened that we did good, they take food from my arms, touch me and let pet one of them a little bit during eating I hope they are going to trust me soon And I hope it will be easier to catch them
I’m trying to get my newer boy used to me, I’m currently at where he’ll let me stroke his head sometimes and he now associates me with food and shouts for his dinner, but I want to be able to cuddle him more. I only rescued him a couple of months ago and not sure how he was kept before but he was a bit afraid of being touched, thank you for the tips ❤️
We have three boys of 5 months old and only one is allowing to pet himself more than others. One is always scared and prefers to eat inside of the house. 😏👍💗😘
Awh, give him time and he will improve. Phoebe was always the confident one but now Roxy is better at being handled and stroked as she enjoys it, after being a wee scaredy bum when she was little!
Thanks for these videos. I've ended up with Guinea pigs with no prep as they needed emergency rescue. They're really small and scared, and your videos are helpful. I would also love a video or any advice on how to move them when they are still scared and don't trust you. I need to clean the cage because it's filled with hay, I've gotten some lovely fleece liners (thanks for suggesting), but I need them out the cage so I can clean it.
I'm gonna get my first Guinea pigs this week and i already heard that talking to them helps a lot to "tame" them and since I love reading books and have like a hundred books I thought about just sittinf next to the cage and "read to them" 😂😄
I realise I can't have piggies cos I would end up sewing designer hides and custom made hammocks and tunnels, my home would be overrun, so happy to watch videos of others happy piggies, especially the ones in large gardens and small holdings.
I just adopted a guinea pig today. I know 2 is best, however, she was surrendered by her owners/breeder because they have a herd and she doesn't get along with any pig sharing her space and the owner didn't have room to make her own space since they had a herd. so she's rather solitary on her own. My original plan was to get 2 and house them together and wasn't planning on getting any for a couple more months. But when I went to the pet store to play with the ferrets (they unfortunately didn't have any) I saw her and asked about her and was told her back story. So while id love a duo herd, I felt I could give her the best home considering I'm disabled, always home, and can Interact with her often to entertain her since she doesn't like piggy buddies. And I'd rather me adopt her than someone that works most of the day and doesn't have much time for interaction with her. She's in a temporary enclosure, 40 Gallon tank, just for a week or two so she can get used to the new environment and it gives me time to get the proper 2.5×7.5 enclosure and other toys and hides id like for her. I also know spontaneously getting a guinea pig without already having everything is frowned upon. But the place I got her guinea pigs especially surrenders get adopted out within days of being put up for sale. And since she's such a skiddish baby she's not gone around her temp enclosure at all yet. And when I notice her out more I'll take her out for moving room til I get the proper cage. And even then, she loves to cuddle so Ill still take her out to run and for a snuggle. If anyone has any toy suggestions id love to hear them. I have some ideas but unfortunately not too many
Hi! I want to get a little piggie soon, and before I get a new pet, I always try to prepare myself and know what I need to properly take care of my pet, and your videos are so helpful! what breed of guinea pigs do you recommend for a beginner?
Are used carrots on step 4 and when I tuging I kept having to put my nail in the carrot so they couldn’t take it away and it actually worked pretty well
a lot of people will say that guinea pigs are easier to tame that hamsters but I have had guinea pigs for over 2 years and they still aren't fully tame and I have had my hamster since march and he is tame already!
I did my first guinea pig lap times today for both my boys and one of them was definitely easier than the other but at first both jumped off my lap (did them separately), I was inside their enclosure on a tiny stool so it doesnt appear to have caused any harm, one boy did better on the second attempt but the other was hiding in a food basket on second attempt which I then lifted onto my lap but he stayed tucked inside there as far as he could get. I gave him a few gentle strokes, waited a little while to see if he calmed as his breathing was very fast. Hopefully next time goes a bit smoother.
Thank you for your video's. I watch them a lot. I also watch certain ones again when I have questions. It's funny, I can hear my piggy saying some of the same things your piggies say. wheet wheet

(Not a fan of strawberries, zucchini, cucumber, or bell peppers so far, but love carrots, celery, romaine lettuce, kale, parsley/thyme, and celery leaves so far, although I only feed them lettuce and kale daily and switch other things out depending on how often they can have it!) They also aren't a fan or orchard hay, but wheek for Timothy, so I may venture out to find other hays to see what they like (thinking of meadow next!)
I love your videos and they have been so helpful!
I’ve been listening to your vids around them snd they find your voice calming
i finally got my guinea pigs (miffy and bambi) yesterday and they are the cutest!!! both abyssian piggies.
can't wait to tame them fully :)
I love how cute Roxy is in the back chillling !!
I am 10 and I have two guinea pigs so this is really helpful.
Just got my two piggies a couple days ago. One is sooo shy. The other lets us pet her already. 😊 Just made fleece liners for their cage, from your tutorial. Love your videos. 🥰
I love them omg I want to become a Guinea pig biologist when I grow up
Omg same
I have baby piggies so this was helpful. I have started some things and I think I’m on the right track. Thank you!
Yay! Good luck! 😄
This worked so well!!! I have had my pigs for 6 months and was so sad that we were making such slow progress. Thank you so much.
Thank you for all your help. I’m a new to guinea pigs.
OMG I laughed so hard when one was gradually chomping down a long blade of grass and another one came and just snipped it in two for themself. so cute.
Working on petting knish and picking up both :)
These are great tips! As a little twist on the first tip that I've done, is you can read to a timid guinea pig. 😊📖🐹 (By the way, I just love the captions you include of your piggies talking--it makes the videos such fun.)
Oh yes great idea with the reading! Ah thank you glad you like them hehe! 😃
I read to my piggies as well and it really does help! ❤️
Great idea. How about Olga da Polga …? They’d really enjoy hearing that I’m sure 😊x
@@jemma3459 Oh, I just love those books! They're so fun and funny, and would fit perfectly with Olga telling her tall tales.
@@MillsSkits Perfect 👍 Enjoy 😉 x
Thank you for this video! My piggies get grumpy if I try to fuss them without giving them a treat first.. I'm starting to think they're just training me! 😂❤️
I had an old hooded top with a pocket on the front...my piggies would sit for hours on my lap hiding away and getting a stroke..they loved it...good way to bond aswell.
I love the long veggie idea, that's brilliant
Yes, it worked well for me when ours first arrived and really hadn’t been handled at all. A large Romaine leaf or a dandelion leaf from the garden are both ideal!
Thanks, Sarah. 😍 Will try some of these tips with Bella .
Wow, this was good! Thanks for the steps. I just adopted a rescue gp, it had been a few years. These were helpful tips!
Our 2 new babies are quite timed but we did hand feed them today - day 3.
We’ve done 5-10min pats per day too.
I have been doing the talking but their are more tips here we’ll try!
Patience, pantience! : )
Also - that grey Guinea pig at 12 mins 30 is particularly adorable (all of them being adorable - of course!)
Your piggies are so huge! I love them!!!❤❤❤
This is the BEST taming video! Thank you for the wonderful information!
You are the reason I got guinea pigs, thx for all ur tutorials and tips! They rlly help me and my family with my guinea pigs :D
Yay I'm so glad to hear that!! Best of luck with your piggies! 😍
Thx!
1:45 I read my books in their presence and I think that helps a lot instead of just random blathering if you find it hard to just randomly talk to nobody
Cool I will have to try that
Danke für die guten Tipps...sehr schön
I just got guinea pigs. I appreciate the videos
Thank you this video was really helpful as I have 4 little guinea pigs myself
I just rehomed my pigs to my co worker I'm a nurse and had no time during the covid always working. I'm so sad I had them since they were babies and they are 1yr old two boys. And when I watch your videos it makes me soooooo sad because you taught me so much of taming feeding bathing EVERYTHING LITERALLY. My boys were so spoiled I do get to see them and make sure they are doing well I even baby sit them time to time. So yeah keep up the good work.
Awh thank you, I'm sorry you had to give them up but well done on making that difficult decision, so glad you still get to see them too! ❤
Thank you Sarah!! Great video!! 💖💖💖 Your piggy family is so cute!!😊😊💖💖
Thanks so much! :D
I am so happy I have found your channel! Thank you for your hard work. Sending love to you and your little friends ❤️ 💕 💗
Love your video's. Extremely helpful just now so many thanks.
Beautiful kind little creatures
your tips really help me, i got guinea pig last weeek on friday, and i wasnt really ready yet, but now i found your yt account that is completely helpful with tips, tysm!
I was upset and didn't believe that it is possible to make friendship with my guinea pigs
But I opened that we did good, they take food from my arms, touch me and let pet one of them a little bit during eating
I hope they are going to trust me soon
And I hope it will be easier to catch them
Can You Please Do A Turtorial On How To Make The Hidy Houses And Beds For The Next Video It Would Mean The World!
That would be a great video
I will be doing them eventually, I have plans which are taking time 😂😀
@@SqueakDreams Ok!
You’re a great and patient Mom❤
Thank you for that I have 2 guinea pigs and now I can finally tame them
Thanks for the great tips. We just got our first piggy. Her name is Ruby and the kids love her. Keep up the tips and tricks.
I hope you get/got another, piggies are herd animals!
Hi,did you ever get another pig? They are herd animals and need a buddy
Great content, very helpful, loved watching. Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤
A few more months and you'll find him a lot more settled :) build up a routine with laptime and he'll be snoozing on you in no time 😀
My guineapig love just my general presents so much it’s lovely
We have three boys of 5 months old and only one is allowing to pet himself more than others. One is always scared and prefers to eat inside of the house. 😏👍💗😘
Awh, give him time and he will improve. Phoebe was always the confident one but now Roxy is better at being handled and stroked as she enjoys it, after being a wee scaredy bum when she was little!
Hey! Love your videos. Where do you get those beds from? The ones with a big circular hole
Great video. First one I seen on training them to be friendly. I have used at least five of these just by experimenting. Thanks for the other tips.😁😁
I am fostering 2 guineas & they are soo scared. I'm going to try these tips & see if something works. Thank you!
Thanks for these videos. I've ended up with Guinea pigs with no prep as they needed emergency rescue. They're really small and scared, and your videos are helpful. I would also love a video or any advice on how to move them when they are still scared and don't trust you. I need to clean the cage because it's filled with hay, I've gotten some lovely fleece liners (thanks for suggesting), but I need them out the cage so I can clean it.
when i saw this im like i need to know this and thanks so much for videoing this just ty . im a big fan.
Thank u so much I used to have a very timid guinea pig but now she just wants to snuggle in y clothes with me 🥰
Your Guinea pigs are all so cute your great at taming them👍
Thanks for this!
I have some ideas but unfortunately not too many
Thank you for these tips my piggies are tame already but these tips would have made it much easier (Pedro looks so confused when you chased roxy
Haha thank you! And he's like why are you running away to Roxy 😂
You really helped me in your videos thx
I really love your videos!!! 🐹💖
Fantastic content, liked and subscribed! What is the name of the song that you use? I’ve heard it in other UA-cam videos and it’s a real earworm :)
OMG I made one for my two male piggies coco and puff they LOVE it I need to make another one they don’t like sharing it
Hi! I want to get a little piggie soon, and before I get a new pet, I always try to prepare myself and know what I need to properly take care of my pet, and your videos are so helpful! what breed of guinea pigs do you recommend for a beginner?
Are used carrots on step 4 and when I tuging I kept having to put my nail in the carrot so they couldn’t take it away and it actually worked pretty well
squeak dreams what's it like to have a guinea pig because i really want one also what type of pellets and hay do you use
a lot of people will say that guinea pigs are easier to tame that hamsters but I have had guinea pigs for over 2 years and they still aren't fully tame and I have had my hamster since march and he is tame already!
Great video ❤❤❤
I did my first guinea pig lap times today for both my boys and one of them was definitely easier than the other but at first both jumped off my lap (did them separately), I was inside their enclosure on a tiny stool so it doesnt appear to have caused any harm, one boy did better on the second attempt but the other was hiding in a food basket on second attempt which I then lifted onto my lap but he stayed tucked inside there as far as he could get. I gave him a few gentle strokes, waited a little while to see if he calmed as his breathing was very fast. Hopefully next time goes a bit smoother.
Thank You So Much!! 🫶🏻🥹🤍
im just setting up my garden for 2 guinea pigs , do they like dust baths ?
Love your videos! I really want a guinea pig and your videos are very helpfull! thank you!!
You're welcome 😃
Im gonna have 2 guinea pigs soon called pumpkin and pip and thank you for inspire me 🐽🐽🤩🤩😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you
Thank you for your video's. I watch them a lot. I also watch certain ones again when I have questions. It's funny, I can hear my piggy saying some of the same things your piggies say. wheet wheet
Hi i just love your video’s ! Finally we got our piggies 2 weeks ago 3 females but they are still very shy :( do you suggest floortime after they are comfortable with you handfeeding them in the cage ?
