How to Factory Reset Chromebook - Powerwash Without a Password

- How to factory reset a Chromebook? In this tutorial, I show you how to factory reset and powerwash your Chromebook. This works whether you remember your password or not. This can be very helpful if you need to restore your Chromebook back to the default settings and completely delete all of your user data. This is especially helpful if you need to wipe your Chromebook before reselling it. In this video, I cover two different factory reset methods: how to reset your Chromebook without a password and how to reset your Chromebook while logged in.

Note: a factory reset will delete all user data on your device. If there are any other users that share the Chromebook, their information will also be deleted.
How to factory reset your Chromebook without a password:
1. Turn on your Chromebook.
2. From the log-in screen, hold down Shift + Ctrl + Alt + R. This should open a new menu that says Reset this device. From here, select Powerwash and Revert, and then select Continue to confirm.
Note: a factory reset will delete all user data on your device. If there are any other users that share the Chromebook, their information will also be deleted.
How to Factory Reset your Chromebook while you are logged in:
1. Turn on your Chromebook and log in.
2. Select the Clock icon in the bottom left-hand corner, and then select the Gear icon to open the settings.
3. Within Settings, search Powerwash in the Search Apps cursor. Once it loads, select the arrow beside Powerwash. Select Restart to confirm.
4. After the Chromebook restarts, you should see a screen displaying Reset this Chrome device. Select Powerwash and then Continue to confirm.

So I plan to factory reset my chrome to clear my storage for better performance, but will it only remove catche files, images, videos etc off, and will affect anything else?

So if you are singed in with the same account on 3 different things a you do it to just the laptop with it just wipe the laptop or all of them?
The problem I'm having is different. After the power wash I did, it keeps rejecting a new password, telling me I'm not connected, when I'm, really am connected to a internet, and so on🤔💭 its pretty frustrating. I on the other hand had to with no choice. Because my Chromebook always kept blanking out every single time you either touch it in a certain spot, could be a chance that it's a factory fault but you can't do much besides try a power wash and see if it works,☹️, and it always wants to shut down for no reason at all, or that little square box wood shut you down automatically, so that's kind of the reason why I had to power wash whether I liked it or not, but now I'm having the problem with trying to sign into a brand new account as a fresh one, and it won't work no matter what I try & do it just will not let me🤷🏻♂️sign in, any help would be appreciated 😔Cheers✌🏼.

You should back up her pictures and or files to cloud or google photos first I don't know about the settings but the files he said would be deleted so you should back it up first.

No, those are saved in your Google account and will sync once you log back into your account.

I've done the factory reset, but first, the original problem is my husband went to close out the program by pushing the ex button, with that the browser blew up my home page blew up, everything i open wether the brower or home pages were all at 100% thier normal sizes. Signing in, I don't know. But as for your games, yes, it will be wiped.

@@christopherrousseu6133 Can your chromebook still boot up? If it can, use an SSD, then simply transfer all data into it. I'm assuming your games are downloaded games or something. What kind of games are those?
@@gregoriysharapov1936Yes, they are downloaded. I got some "City Car Driving, Bus Sim, Candy Crush Soda Saga, things like that.
And I'm not a computer whiz, so idk what a "SSD" is.
@@christopherrousseu6133 An SSD is a solid state drive. A faster version of hard drives. Nevermind, you already have a hard drive. Assuming you are happy with your hard drive, you just need to plug in your hard drive (i'm assuming yours is some sort of USB) into your Chromebook. Then, transfer all your games' files and other important things onto your hard drive. Cut and paste. Eject your hard drive. Then, powerwash your Chromebook. Then plug your hard drive in, then transfer your data into the Chromebook.
