I have a second video on how to reset a Chromebook, using different steps, if you are having difficulty with these steps: ua-cam.com/video/rEysFhrZPPo/v-deo.html
Hi there! 1st and foremost I wanted to say THANK YOU so much for being an american. I can't tell you how happy I am to be able to understand and hear you clearly. WOW, what a major difference. So thank you for that. I was so frustrated before I found your video. I followed each step, and it fixed my problems in less than 2 minutes. That was truly amazing. I appreciate people like you who take the time to make a video to help other people like myself. You make life a lot easier. My name is Cindy & I'm reaching out to you from southern California. Have a great day! Stay safe.
Sir I just want to Thank You for this video ♥️ when I say I was struggling with my laptop to finish my schoolwork I was literally about to cry! God is going to bless you and I hope he already have 🎉 Thank you again. I hope you read this one day.
It's about time that someone has cut the small talk I really enjoyed your video it was short and sweet and not too much talking okay when you're frustrated you don't want to hear a lot of talking we need solutions for our problems thank you very much
Your directions to reset my Chromebook were so simple, thank you for being so detailed and for showing us step by step. My Acer Chromebook 15 is now Reset 😊😊
I am not sure how but I am already in developer mode at the 0:43 screen how do I exit developer mode and turn OS verification back on ? If I turn of my laptop and turn it back on I see your system is performing a critical update please do not turn of , if I press esc refresh and power I go right back to please insert uSB stick or SD card , if I input the UsB and reinstall the OS it tells me the OS verification is off when it completes the OS reinstall and restarts It takes me back to your system is performing a critical update and then the screen goes black, I suspect if I can exi5 developer mode and get Os verification back on it might work but I dot know how to do it it I'm stuck
To exit developer mode on a Chromebook and turn OS verification back on, simply restart your Chromebook and press the Spacebar when the OS verification message appears during boot; this will re-enable OS verification and disable developer mode, but be aware that it will also wipe your local data on the device.
@@selmateacher7Hello and thank you for the quick reply, I mentioned this in the first message I posted, when I restart the Chromebook I get a message your system is performing an update please do not turn off, then the screen goes black, pressing the power button again only shows the same message , system is performing an update , please don't turn off there is no OS verification message
@@selmateacher7 Hello again, and thank you once again for your assistance. I was able to find the solution I removed the battery and it fixed every problem, the update message still appeared but the screen did not go black and the OS verification message soon appeared, after that everything worked out. Just thought I would provide an update in case anyone else reached out to you in the future and had the same or a similar problem maybe my solution could help them as well, once again thank you for your willingness to help me, Take care and all the best.

Do you think this would fix a black screen issue? I have tried all other options to fix it. I have a external monitor attached and it works great. I think it may be the back screen needs replacing . My chromebook is ASUS Chromebook Flip C536.

I have a question when I get to the control + D part I don't know why but it just kind of freezes and doesn't advance no matter how many times I press those keys it's like the screen freezes and doesn't It does not advance
For whatever reason this didn't work for me (after the Ctrl+D) step. Had to use the flashdrive method. Not sure if some Chromebooks are just made that way... Should be pretty simple based on your steps.
This stopped working for me also, at the point where on the video the OS verification is switched off and then the blue reboot screen appears. I don't get the blue reboot screen
@@KT180X I am sorry to hear of the difficulty. If these steps do not work for you, please try the other steps found in my other video that I pinned in the comments.
@@selmateacher7 That giant car carrier near Holland, full of hundreds of fancy German cars many of which are EV's that are difficult or impossible to put out comes to mind. Lots of dangerous materials and smoke coming from that. Putting out a fire on a regular car is far easier and less dangerous than an EV fire.
@@nelsonv741 I have had my eye on that. right now, I just saw a report that it may have been a gas car that started that fire. It is true that EV fires are hard to put out. Thank you for taking the time to write to me.
Hello I did the steps as told and once finished it took me back to my screen that said “ your device is locked “ and on the side saying to return it to the school but I have moved states and have plans on selling it what can I do to get rid of this screen so I can sell it
If the Chromebook was a private party owned unit, yes. But a school Chromebook has it's serial numbers saved in a special database at Google, so even after installing the Chrome OS, as soon as that unit gets on the Internet, Google will put those same restrictions on it. The school needs to remove it from their database or "catalog" for it to be free from their ownership.
I enabled extended security updates and it disabled play store but what I didn't know is that it also disables adb debugging. I want to to back will this work?
Hi i followed instructions and it switches off to wipe data but comes back on to the same screen as at beginning about missing or damaged os,what else can i do please?
Ouch. it should return to a screen allowing you to set up the computer and sign into a Google account again. Okay... if you keep getting the error message , then the internal storage of that Chromebook may be damaged and not readable . I would repeat the steps with a deferent USB drive , just incase it was not a good copy.
Hi thanks for you're reply,i didnt use a usb i did the control and D together press like you did in video,it did everything like in video until it reboots,it then just starts at the os is damaged etc screen, done it mutiple times and same cycle,i dont have another computer to be able to do it by the usb method,is there anything else i could try? Thankyou for all your help
If you need to reinstall the OS, then yes, you ill need a USB drive, like a 8GB flash drive that yo find at walmart. But this video is going over just a factory reset and you should not need a USB drive to do just a reset.
Update: I got it working! 😁 I have done this and it takes me to the Connect to Network page and then it goes to update, when finalized it goes back to connect to network page. 😞
That is the correct. The Chromebook is is "reset" Reset means to loose all data. The new user will then sign in to it without seeing your data, network info, etc. A factory reset means the Chromebook is erased of your data, therefore it will need to connect to a network and get it's updates again..
@@metztlisalome960 I am here to help. When we do those steps in my computer class, the units do that only once, then after logging into the network and the students' accounts, the Chromebooks work normally and do not need to be re-connected to the network or other accounts. May I ask what issue you were having with the Chromebook to facilitate the need of the reset in the first place? As, I have other videos that go over the steps on "powerwashing" the Chromebook to fix problems .
@@selmateacher7 Good morning, the initial problem was that it wouldn't finish loading up once I would turn it on. It would stay on the Chrome Logo. I am assuming my son downloaded an app which caused it to fail. I have power washed it and and did esc+Refresh+power.
