hardrockcharlie1 You speak good truth.
"Babies stare at me a lot" :) Going back to the non-woods life after a 9 day excursion is bitter sweet..kinda like chocolate. I had fun on your vacation.
BackpackingAdventures They do. Thankee....
I've been singing "The Hickery Brothers Song" for days now. I CAN'T GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD.
Tim Lewallen For that we apologize!
It's been fun. I get a lot of looks when I sing it out loud. During church.
ascending pinchin whoops me every time. I prefer to handle that task when one can see ones own breath. Love that place...
I don't think I've ever been disappointed with any of your videos including this series. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures. You have a way of making me feel like I'm there with you.
Stormstaff from HammockForums
Stormstaff Sure appreciate you saying so.....
Phenomenal Shug just phenomenal. Always great to see your adventures with Kent.
Tmakmak I am bowing deeply here....thank you.
I love how you and Hickory each have a flavor going on your hammock setups. You got the green bean and hickory has the blueberry, they both look delicious! Looks like you two had fun (as usual) and stayed out of trouble for the most part. You made my mouth water when you ate those pizza sandwiches, they really looked yummy. Thanks for taking us along for a walk in woods with the Hickory Brothers!
Really love the hanging around the fire having dinner scenes here.
Love it when the Hickery Brothers get out together! Thanks for taking us along Shug.
Cappy Coleman making a comeback! Sweet echo off that Pinchin trail. Great trip, thanks for taking us along!

Another great trip all wrapped up and in the can (film can that is!). Great food and great scenery. Glad you got to see Jimbo! I could smell those sammiches on Laurel Knob. Thanks for the ride-a-long.
nohill4climber Those sandwiches were so good and eaten in the right spot.

Awesome video series Shug!! I'm glad that you all had another great time.
jstevens2010 Mucho Thanks.
That Pinchin trail looked pretty steep, and the scenery was surprisingly like what we have here in Northern California. It's all uphill here. Another great video and I thank you and am glad you guys had some fun. Hang in there!
guyfihi It was a lung buster...wanted to get myself panting)))))
Great video as usual. Looks like you guys picked a great time of the year. The fall colors and scenery are hard to beat.
E Wynn Fall Fun For Fools....
Okie dokie, I'll be listening for "Whooooo Buddy" next time I'm up north.

Love the video series!
lonestarrider Whoooo Buddy.
Really enjoy your videos.
Samuel Hatley We thankee.
Shug, I can't even begin to tell you how much your vids inspire me. I haven't been able to get out backpacking for a few months and am living vicariously through you at this point. Thanks so much for taking the time to shoot and edit these vids for us to enjoy. You are a true entertainer as much as you are an outdoorsman. These are some of the best backpacking vids on UA-cam.
I'm looking to pick up one of those ULA Ohm packs. What is the best price you have seen on one (new or used)?
Thanks so much!
outlan I love my OHM...whatever the price is on their website is all I know,
Sad to see it end, but it was a heck of a trip this year! I'm going to have to check out that Art Loeb Trail...
Ian Young Thankee for that.
Hi mr emery and kent. Love the shug videos. Next time you're down this way check out the foothills trail. A good weeks work.
Mike Summers We have been looking at that!
I'm only five seconds into this. LOVE the way it starts. Linville Gorge in a nutshell there. Hammock or tent in the background, fire from last night still going a bit.. Annnnd you notice that awesome rock firepit.....cause you're in the LIN-VILLE GORE-J. WHOOOOOOOO BUDDY!!!!!!
Wes Kanoy Best fire ring ever....

9:12 toast on the hood of the car was cool, especially knowing that you two were friends since the 6th grade..
Wes Kanoy He beer...me strawberry milk!
***** Love me some milk. I've never had a cavity nor have I broken a bone. Cause I've drank the heck outta some milk for decades. Buddy Whoo.
***** MMmmmmm...... Reckon what kinda milk FLAYE-YER you like? MMmmm......
Thanks again Shug! I put together a thank you Shug video as a small token of my appreciation... Wooobuddy!! It was the least I could do. No seriously, I tried to do less but I couldn't... Great trip!
Bryan Riddle Whooooo Buddy))))
Nice Dale's Pale Kent! I work a short distance (1 block) north of their Longmont brewery / tasting room!
rhinomahn He would never leave....
9 DAYS! It was a good run. See you fellers next time : )
CampfireTalk Yes it was. Need 17 days.

leetshots Whooooo Buddy)))
Are you and Hickery planning a trip this year? Im getting out this weekend for the first trip of the season, I'll be hootin' some Whoo Buddys on the trail loud and proud for you Shug! I'll also be trying out some Dutch gear, a Wilderness Logics TadPole tarp, whoopie sling marlin spike suspension system with a new adjustable ridgeline, AND some Pack-It Gourmet, all of which will be my first trip using. Cheers, Shug. Happy trails and keep sector seven secure.
+Rick Barnwell We won't be in the Gorge this year....we are doing the trip in a differnt locale this year. Nice gear you got....Whoooooo Buddy
Thats great to hear that the dynamic duo will be gracing UA-cam with another installment of the Hickery Brothers!
Them eggs looked like they had some ramps in 'em.
Grubkat Not ramps but other goodies. Powerful good I say...
Great as usual. I enjoyed watching. Ever think of doing a medley video of all your "I'm Sean.. I'm Kent... ♫ and we're the Hickery Brothers ♫"? Have a good day.
Steve InMichigan That would be a fun lil' project...thankee.
I really like the changes of the light you get in the fall & winter. The sun is more on the orange side & casts such a nice light at sunset.
Shug what the difference between liver mush & Scrapple?
1timby Livermush has cornmeal and carmel coloring...
dang it! you where so close. I would of Loved to throw a Ballantine on that trail witcha!
Boozin Bozo Turn the Gorge into a Circus)))
***** They wouldn't of known what to think of us doing dead alive in the middle of the forest.
Boozin Bozo Touché
Another fine adventure! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Quick question:What are the geographical limits of sector 7?
Seems awfully big,isn't it? :)
camembert101 Sector Seven is a 100 foot circle around me))))
Awesome Hikes. That Linville gorge Shure is beautiful Thanks for taking me along. Now down to the nitty gritty what was the name of your stool and where did it come from, just kidding and who are the Hickery brothers ?
Kevin Bradley Haaaaa!
good video looks like you had a lot of fun
brausse85 We did for sure.
Liked the video Thanks
Mae Wilson Thankee Mae.
Wait what are your names again??? Those woods are scary 'Cappy' campfire scary😳 Thanks for taking us on your beautiful fall
trek.
LuvtheGR8Outdoors Those graves you know....haints!
Great to see pic of the gorges. Got to get down there some time. How far off the trail you guys camping?
Bud4me0007 It is only 500 feet or so off-trail.
Enjoyed all the videos; I had fun being with my Gorge Rat friends last week.My wife said she will order another (Southern Supreme Nutty Fruitcake) for the next hang.
Michael Willard I ordered one already too Moose! Thanks again.
thank you so much for sharing your trips with your old buddy Kent.. Just wondering if you took any showers during the nine days and also what about ticks I go on an overnight and always seem to get a tick somewhere. No pajama people in the gorge?
jormawails We did shower after the Art Loeb Trail....no ticks too cold.
Reckon we were the Pajama People.
Have I got this right. You are the hickery brothers.
eamonn280958 We are for sure...my name's Sean....
Well, I've been wondering for years, but now I just have to ask. Do you eat that kind of stuff only as part of the camping/guys in the woods adventure or is spam and beany weanies part of your normal fair? We may have to have a talk bout your dietary habits... Don't want to lose you before your time. Hell, I didn't even know they still made Wonder Bread.
Great video, as usual. Thanks for bringing us along.
Jerseyhighlander No Sir...backpacking only. Why eat kale and spinich whilst down South when the good meat looms. We turn into 12 year olds. First time Wonder bread has been in my gob in 17 years. Oh so good in the woods though.
Thanks for the great videos. =D
I see a lot of the packit gourmet meals.. do you not eat the Hawk Vittles anymore?
I'm planning on ordering some of each on payday.
Eat Carbs I prefer the PackitGourmet.
Right on. I'm planning on ordering some soon. =D
I loved the sawyer suck segment. (try saying that 10 times fast) Enjoyed watching as always.
Dan Watts We did too...fun to laugh that hard.
Shug
How long and how difficult would it be to go from pinnacle th down leadmine and out conley cove.
ncmulligan That would be a right good trip. Can't comment on the difficulty as I don't know your skills and trail knowlwdge but I would rate it as Challenging.
That was real fun Shug. Thanks man, it was like I hiked the Gorge myself. Now, about that dog with the little red beeping light..... Are you sure that really happened??
Miat62 Oh it did happen...we saw that dog the next day too miles away.
Love the music lead in on these videos....you should cut an album Shug.
+RS Marett Well...we just jam.....soundcloud.com/you/sets
+shugemery.... Good Grief!!! I did not know....Stupid Me.....Very talented you are Mr Emery! "Another One Gone" and "John Hardy" are beautiful.
Shug, how many of the Packit Gourmet meals have you tried and which is your favourite? Ive just ordered some to the UK!
Philip Mabbott I have tried many but not all. So far no diddapointments. Best I have ever had. Favorite is the Big Easy Gumbo.
Hi Shug, what kind of mileage do you average out at on any given trail? Do you set a limit to how much you'd be willing to walk per day?
Martyn Pass We don't think miles in the Gorge. It is rugged and we just shoot for the area we want to get to. sometimes it takes all day to go 10 miles.
Thanks Shug.
Thank you Hickery Brothers, that was a fun trip. Babies only stare at two kinds of people, the trustworthy kind, and the scary kind. I'm assuming you're the trustworthy kind?
***** I like to think I am...the babies always grin.
"Haints".....OK, you spilled the beans for all the northern and western viewers. Why not just let them find out about haints and boogers on their own? :)
flysubcompact I am the haint whisperer.....
Carl Sighting!!!
In the linville gorge !!
john anderson Uhh-huhhh I reckon.
From the description... it seems like you are in my neck of the woods.... I live in Huntersville NC - I need to look a bit closer at the places you hike... (avid backpacker - Boy Scout assistant scout master - wanna get out in the woods more guy) might even have a tip or two to add to your marlin spike hitch hammock 'set up' .... and you are hilarious keep posting ... MV
Michael Vassily Whooooo Buddy)))) was in Huntersville whilst down there...pre-gorge.
I'm going to assume that Kent Hickory is not a gram weenie. How much did it dang GSI Kettle weigh?
He is not though way lighter than he used to be. The GSI Kettle only weights 5.8 ounces.
Werewolves, vampires or zombies; none of these scares me half as much as that luncheon meat.
M00nsplitter I concur))))
Nowhere beats linvile gorge for fall colors...............em maybe west virginia.
It is good wherever you are standing.....
Shug you should be in the gorge Tonight it's currently 11 degrees.
ksnc21 Slept out here last night...5º
Did you say an "hour and 5 mins" for up Pinch In? Hiking time, after subtracting breaks? If so thats awesome, I allow 2hrs and make it up in about 3. You came up it on a warm day too. Pinch In - a cardio workout with a view.
Now I'm scared to camp at the bottom again, jk. it sure gets dark and lonely down there at night. Great campsite, i think that area is where the rats should meet up sometime.
Jim de Friess Yessir...hour and 5 and that includes the stops. I went at it. Wanted to get "panting cam". Pinchin makes you feel it!!!
That would ba great Rat meeting. Another site close-by too.
I'll take the Dodge , Flap Jack.
Grubkat Hickery Mobile....
Shug, whats the deal with the short britches?
I like a breeze up me britches)))
do you guys tell ghost stories at the campfire?
Bob Bob No.....we chit-chat about the old days of our mis-spent youth.
so scary stories...
looks like you guys could do this for another 20 years
0:21. Yes..
Wes Kanoy Aye!
Great times good eats and stomach gas from liver mush....
***** We did fart up out underquilts that night))))
Well thats not bad. Not as heavy as it looks. I still dont think anything beats 12cm Imusa!
Dont you just love it when you have a really heavy case of gas just when you your about to get in your bag. Why burp and waste it when you can fart and taste it.
Thanks for taking us along. Looks like you had a great time.
you're tryin to hard to be funny
Our Moms always say that.
I am consistently thrown off by the various processed poisons you keep eating on these otherwise wholesome healthy trips. Balance in all things I guess!
Ernest Hemingway Healthy food is no fun to film nor do I crave it or get excited by it))))
i bet you're a blast at parties ernest
Hey, my kush and wine are organic and home made.
Ernest Hemingway kush is weed...right?
uhuh. Not that frowned upon up here in the great white north.
