- Our Annual 8 Night Trip so this year Hickery came up to the NorthLand to check out some of the trails that I have been traipsing the last few years.
We have been friends for over 40 years and this time on the trail is fun and precious to us as it is usually the only time we get to see each other all year.

Great Disco Dance. Who would have guessed the pandemic & all that. The awesome years...the glory days. Miss my old home of Sioux Narrows off Whotefish Bay in Lake of the Woods. Return Bay if you ever get out there. The Canucks gave me the boot, but that vast lake is still there. A porch & chair & firepit & trees for a hang. A shore to beach on. There for you, and for me hopefully not gone...gotta get to filing those papers...Happy Hangin'.

Shug....Oh boy....here we go again. The annual 8 night trip with you and Kent the Hickery Brothers.Can hardly wait to watch these as they are uploaded. Part 1 was yesterday, and Part 2 came up today. Already watched them both Shug. Love you guys, the videos, the beautiful country, the trail talk, the tips and tricks, the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the campsites, campfires, cooking, plus the kidding and joking back and forth between these guys is so enjoyable and refreshing. Thanks again so much.

+shugemery ...You don't know how much pleasure these videos bring me. You really don't. I watch them every night over and over. I'm 69, be 70 in March, and battling cancer in 4 parts of my body but I'm winning, so far they say. Already had 3 operations with 2 more coming. This is my evening entertainment.Every night man. So after I get all this goofy cancer stuff cut out of me, I plan to start getting back into the woods again like I did 45 years ago. Watching these videos is like an online school. I've learned the best gear and gear suppliers, how to use the gear, how to cook, how to pack, and tons more. Will start in the backyard, then car camp with a hammock, then maybe some short one nighter hikes. Already got a Warbird Super Fly set up in porch mode in the backyard with a lawn chair under it waiting for a lightning storm to come. Hope it will be like the lighting storm on Rock Jock Trail in the Linville Gorge you and Hickery had. Remember that night. Oh man. One of my favorites videos. Wife thinks I'm crazy. lol. Oh well.... Think I'm rambling now......sorry old men do that haha.... I heard there was a Maple King in them woods up north in MN. So glad i finally got to see him. Tell him I said hi. :)))))

Always a hoot when the Hickery Bros get together! A buddy & I drove 20 hours straight to get to the BWCA for the first time in September. We went to Winchell from Cross Bay access off the Gunflint. In a life spent outdoors, the BW ranks easily among the most staggeringly beautiful places I've laid my eyes upon. Something about the place gets ahold of you once you've seen it. Its ruggedness and solitude pull at a man, calling him back.We're already planning next years trip!

I just moved to Morganton and last week we went to Boone up through Marion to the Parkway. Anyways, I passed Louise's Rock House and startled my girlfriend when I just yelled "Hey, I know that place!" Thanks for another great video Shug.

We were on our way to eat at the Daniel Boone Inn or I defineitly would have stopped. It will for sure happen here soon though, that and a overnight trip in the gorge. Because what would be the point of living in Morganton without several trips to the gorge. :)

Looks like my family and I were in the Ely area about the same time. We went into South Hegman lake this past Monday. I considered entering on Snowbank lake , but wind is a factor with a canoe, so I opted for the smaller lake. Love the videos. They are inspirational.
