Aw man my two favorite times of the year (fall and spring) when shug and hickory get together and we get to tag along. It was really awesome to see those photos of the ole gang back in the day. Really enjoyed it and brought smiles to my face.
Beautiful. The older you get the more precious the friendships, especially as some pass on. It's always frightening though, the difference between the bright, shining memory, the immortal 20 year old you that we all keep in our self image, and the grainy, faded colours of photographs that appear to show a very long time ago indeed.
But those times are bright in my mind along with the trouble we got into::::::

The color looks great in the gorge this time of year.Like you, I remember the days from the 1970s when I was a teenager hiking and camping in my home state of Montana. Good memories from a different era and yet I can go back to those same trails a relive some fond memories. Thanks for sharing your video Shugemery. :)

Another fun one Shug. Tx again for sharing! I took my WBRR and CB tarp for a quick backpacking excursion last night. I was in bed for 12 hours!! lol haven't been able to do that in years. Getting in and out is mucho better than a little tent as well. I have you to thank for this improvement. Really made a big difference in my outdoor adventures Shug. ty. Booh ya!

I had the same car as Ken in my younger days but it met a fairly nasty end at the hands of a guard rail on an off ramp. Good old 5th gen Toyota Celica, those pop-up lights are the best. Thanks for bringing us along again, looks like you boys had a blast.

killer video. in 1978 we were up on the AT in GSMNP when a couple of F- 16s came by. I got the camera ready but didn't push the button because all I could see in the frame was the pilot. the Maple King is real ... like wrestling. peace brothers

I have been sleeping in a hammock that I hung up in my bedroom since I broke my back too. Thank you Shug for turning me onto the hammock life! I also hang it in my van for camping on the road.

I really look forward to your backpacking vids but when ol' Hickery shows up it's like Christmas! And the Maple King... hilarious! As a "survivor" of a few gorge trips myself I know how tough these hikes are. And your routes are insane sometimes. A lot of your viewers don't really understand just how difficult the gorge can be.
You guys share a bond that's the envy of many. Keep 'em coming. Please!

One can't help but notice that Hickery always disappears when The Maple King shows up. Must be some bad blood of some type between them. Having seen the vicious whack M/K gave you last year for blowing those party favors I can't say I blame him for steering clear.
