    Wow
    Back in 1980's I was standing across Table Rock Mt . on the Wiseman View look out
    I saw a small Cessna style plane fly through the gorge when two seconds later an fighter plane flying sideways flew past me
    I could clearly see the pilot
    Seconds later another fighter plane flew by but this one went vertical, straight up!
    Now that was a show!

    I was at Linville Falls yesterday (5/11/23) and they flew over. Was literally the loudest sound I’ve ever heard in my life. They were so low and I had no clue this was actually common until I found this video.

      They do it for low altitude training and terrain flying training. They fly low and close to ground to stay undetectable by radar. It was way more common when the war in Afghanistan was at it height.

      My son and I were camping in Lost Cove Wilderness area on 6/14/23 and two flew over, again VERY low. It was deafening! When I heard that initial high-pitched ripping sound, my brain said "No way there are fighter jets approaching!".

    You may enjoy the videos on the Crack of Doom, a dangerous crevice on the Shortoff Mountain cliffs on the east south side of Linville Gorge. It would be interesting to see drone footage of that crevass while climbers were scrambling around inside it.

    3/24/23 03:20 pm. Four Fighter Jets just flew over & nearby Morganton/Lenoir Regional. Unusual for me in this area, even though I lived behind Ft Bragg’s jump zones.

      Pretty sure they went through the gorge as well. Was hiking and heard them go over.

    Was at Lake James today and had 2 jets fly over very low altitude!! Wonder if this is where they were headed?? Is this a common occurrence around that area??

      Yes, good chance they were. It’s fairly common, couple times a month or more

    I totally understand the need to train and have razor sharp aviators but respecting a federal wildness area would also be nice.
    As a civilian doing the same it isn't illegal but at the same time you're requested not too.

    How often do you see these F-15's fly through there?

    • @NelsonAerialPros
      @NelsonAerialPros  2 роки тому +1

      Not very often, maybe 1-2 times a month. I could not have been anymore lucky with my timing. Right place at the right time

      I work near the end of the gorge. Recently, I've been seeing them nearly every day! Def have ramped up training lately due to global tensions

      @@NelsonAerialPros Yes. I am very curious as to its contents. If any. I have some pics I can send you. Standing at the most right viewing platform, it is about 50 yards to the right and just below the viewing platform. What makes me curious is, it does not look natural. It faces east, so the best pics would be during morning hours. Interested?

      John Garland is it down in the gorge itself? May be hard to get to and fly the drone legally. Can’t operate from designated wilderness area and must keep drone within my line of sight too

    Why does it look like you are flying sideways in the end of both shots if you're on the ground? Not trying to be drone police or anything (couldnt care less about the rules in the US since Im EU located), just wondered since you pointed out that you didnt take off.
    Nice shots though, and those are F-15C's

    • @NelsonAerialPros
      @NelsonAerialPros  5 років тому +2

      Jacob Gramtorp because the drone was flying. The drone did not take off, land or operate from the designated wilderness area. That means it could have taken off, landed and have been operated from other land, which it was.
