    Shot 8 rounds this weekend (10-14-12). 2 each of 000buck 9 pellet. 00buck 8 pellet 00buck low recoil 8 pellet, and 1oz slugs. Felt great...but the Mav 88 shoots great anyway... I did have the stock positioned all the way out. I did add the drop spacer for aiming accuracy prior to shooting. Hope to post a review soon..just get busy with life as you might know. Thanks for posting a comment and watching.

    Nothing like playing with my guns while listening to some good 'ole R&B music...lol. Thanks for the comment and thumbs up lilg111111. Yeah, it is hard to reach the action lock lever after you install this ATI stock. But I do like the stock. You can watch all my Maverick 88 videos on my YT channel's "My Maverick 88" playlist. I plan on going to a shotgun class later this month and will be taking this Maverick 88 with me. This is gonna be fun!! Thanks for watching.

    Thanks biggmoves. I just came back from a 6 hour shotgun training class and shot plenty of rounds today. I will say that the pistol grip with Scorpion gel pad did come slightly loose and I chose to remove the ATI stock and install my original Mav butt stock. I'm glad I took my OME stock and the tools to make the change during the class. I'll post a review of how my accessories on my Maverick 88 did. Thanks for watching.

      Canadian Prepper Hi CP. Thanks for watching and giving my video a thumbs up! The music is so classic. It was a nice day when I decided to install my stock and shoot my video, I just couldn't stop lisening to that good 'ole R&B! Yes, the stock works very well. If you haven't already check out "My Maverick 88" playlist on my channel. My last review was after taking a 6 hours "Fighting Shotgun" class. I reviewed all of the accerssories I've installed on my Maverick 88.

    I decided to go ahead with the mod. I drilled through my cheek rest and put the ATI shockforce shell holder on it. But in order to reduce "shock" while shooting, I put a strip of 1/2" weather stripping under the shell holder. It actually helps make it fit snug to the cheek rest.
    I plan on going to the range soon, so I'll let you know how it performs.

  • @MrMnmn911

    Thanks for the comment. I really do appreciate it. Thanks for watching and the sub. Hope you noticed my note on using a 3/8 inch drive instead of a 3/4 inch drive. The 3/8 drive is smaller and will allow your socket to fit the tight space in the stock of the original butt stock. Happy tacting. I really enjoyed doing mine.

    Hi Jack, I have a new video on the ATI heat shield I had issues with. I use 1-1/8 oz. slugs in that video. I don't mention it in the video but I shot 9 rounds and the recoil was much less on the hand and shoulder.

  • @MrMnmn911
    @MrMnmn911  12 років тому

    I've only had a chance to put 8 rounds thru. Some slugs, low recoil, 00 and 000 buck, I've not noticed any srcrews coming loose. A friend of mine has told me that the pre-applied loctite will not work as well once you remove and re-insert a screw. He suggests adding a small amount of loctite back onto the treads if you remove a screw. One thing I have done is to add the drop spacer...without the drop spacer I was very hard to use the front bead sight properly.

    Yes, you are correct AYSKOFI. I misspoke . If you have annotations "on" you'll see that I mention to use a 3/8" not 3/4" drive ratchet. Unfortunately annotations don't show up on mobile devices, which is the format most people use to surf the net these days. I do also mention this in the first line of the video description. You can see all my other videos on the Mav88 in "My Maverick 88" playlist. Thanks for liking and commenting.

    Cool. Sounds like you got a good fit. And you get to keep your red dot sight on your gun. Yes, let us know how it performs. Got my new silicone pads from ATI today. These are clear and not black, but that's OK. ATI also sent new V-block spacers, a new pad for the front sight and the inside of the front of the shield, and new screws. Great customer service from ATI.

    Hi Jack Kingsford. The recoil is reduced but to be honest the Maverick 88 is so good it's hard to tell. I don't shoot to many rounds when I do shoot it so it's hard to tell. But it does feel great and if needed in tactical situations I think it would work well. Thanks for watching, liking, favoriting and commenting.

    I think you may actually be able to if you do not install the cheek rest. the holes look to be in the same place...or perhaps you can install it over the cheek rest and get slightly longer screws.

  • @rlmarin1968
    @rlmarin1968 11 років тому

    Yup...it fits pretty snug. Like you, I'm just concerned about recoil vibration making it loose over time. If that becomes a problem, I'll simply remove the cheek rest and put the shotshell holder on the stock directly. Having the extra shells is more important to me than having the cheek rest.

    Yes. that's a cool mod Jethlin2020 has done to the ATI Talon 6 Position Shotgun Stock. The fit is near perfect. It's a nice addition to the stock. I don't thing I'll ad a holder to my stock but it's good to know it can be done...and how to do it. Jet didn't do a follow up video. I would have liked to see it with shells in it and while shooting. • @rlmarin1968
    @rlmarin1968 11 років тому

    Just a thought. What if you drilled through the cheek rest on the side you wanted to mount the side saddle...putting a screw through the side saddle, cheek rest and the bracket under it into the stock holes. This would make the cheek rest stationary...but if you have it where it fits you...not necessarily a bad thing.

    I'm also looking into the velcro detachable shotshell rigs to mount on my weaver rail adapter. If I can get a 6 shotshell holder velcro strip to hold steady, I can avoid the whole holder on the cheek mount. I have a temp holder from my old stock on it at the moment...so I'm in no hurry.

  • @rlmarin1968
    @rlmarin1968 11 років тому

    I'm looking into it because I have a Weaver scope mount on my receiver (which doesn't make it easy to have a side saddle) so I may have to do this in order to have extra shells on my rig. The only thing I may do different is try to screw the the shotshell holder into the stock itself through the cheek rest...for stability.

    I was afraid of that. I have the weaver mount on my 88 which goes over the receiver and has the picatinny rail on it for a sight. I like the way my red dot looks on it, but I may go away from it in order to make room for a side saddle. Either that or do away with the cheek rest and put the ATI side saddle on the stock instead and keep the red dot. Thanks for your reply.

    Very nice video. Clear and detailed. I personally do not see putting a $120 something stock on a $187 ( that is what I paid) gun. Mavericks are cheap and reliable. That is why I have a couple stashed for home defense. I could see spending it on 500 or 590 especially if you shoot it often but that is just me.

    Definitely one of the best instructional videos I've seen so far. I can't think of a single thing you left out. The detail in your video was amazing as was your technique for getting the washers on the screws using a screw driver. Hmmm. Interesting about using some JB Weld. Shoot some video if you can and let us know if it works out.

    Great video - Yours was the 1st one to appear when I did my search using - Mossberg Talon Tactical Shotgun Stock. I just purchased mine, and it will arrive on or around next Wednesday. Although I downloaded the instructions and read them, I wanted a visual. Thank you for a detailed, descriptive video of your installation. I see you're a prepper as well. i.e. (silver) =) I've liked and subscribed.

    Hi Cheech1968. I don't think I see how one could be mounted with the cheek rest/pad on with this particular buttstock.

    Having a problem removing the stock from the tube. The instructions say ""pull down on the latch lever, and remove the buttstock from the buffer tube". I don't want to force anything but it does not seem to come off. Any suggestions?

    I was thinking about using some JB Weld and extending that Action lock lever. It might look funky but i think it could work.

    Is there any way to mount a side saddle on that buttstock while you have the cheek pad on it? I like the idea of the cheek pad, but would hate to think installing it would keep me from mounting a side saddle.

    anyone know how much shorter this stock is than the original stock? I have short arms and I can't shoulder my maverick comfortably with the original stock on it.
