@jermz999 hey they odnt make foreends for the mavrick 88 dued to the action bars connecting it to the fore are grip rather than the cyliender to the action bars but get piccatinny rails and tap some holes on the right middle or whatever angle you would like the picatinny rails and then nut and bolt them and but a pstol grip forearmgrip , mavricks 88 only downfall no forearm assessories but if you see inside once taken apart the forearm you can see where you can place picatinnys screws n bolts
some of the maverick 88's were field models that came with a diffrent forened yours is the security model and dosnt cover the reciver at all mine was a field model that i made multi purpose security or hunting. i had to dremel a little out my forened to let the slide come all the way back
Went to buy the Mav 88 at my local gun shop just this past Friday. They literally sold the last one the day before! Had to buy a bunch of Glock food instead. Gonna try again next week 🤞
Did the shield become lose after firing a while? looking into getting one, but the one with the iron sights attached, but if it gets lose i think ill avoid it.
The problem when you're the owner of a Maverick 88 is that most people like yourself won't change that pin forearm I changed it to a Mossberg 500 forend with a Magpul forend also I got it drilled and tap on the top professionally went ahead and painted and had a DuraCoat on it I added a heat shield but I put the plastic attachment which is a spacer the way you supposed to put it I added a ProMag sidesaddle archangel and an ATI folding
Hi, nice video. I just bought a maverick 88 cruiser. Do you know what differences there are between the cruiser and the security model except for the pistol grip, especially can i replace the grip on my cruiser with an aftermarket stock . Thank you. Fred
I believe the cruise is just the pistol grip. You could purchase a stock for it if you want the full size. Should have no issues fitting a regular stock.
Hey I have the Mav. 88 but its the field version. I have a 18.5 barrel / AR style buttstock on it but I want to put the side saddle on there. Your forend looks a bit different than the one on mine, I think mine is longer. So im a bit worried about it fitting on there. What do you know about this or should I get the 4 slug version vs the 6?
What specific side saddle will fit on a Maverick 88? I want to buy one but I know not all will fit correctly I have the 7+1 Security model. Which Specific Side saddle and brand should i buy?
Hey bro, where did you get that heat shield? I have a Mav 88 and all the sites I go to wont/cant clarify if their specific heat shield will fit Mav 88. Help please. Thanks in advance.
I think the problem with the forend and the side saddle is because they offer two different style for ends. The one you have does not wrap around and go as far back so you shouldn't have a problem. The style I have is different then yours and probably wouldn't work. But it is good 4 Shooters with shorter arms because it does come back further so they don't have to reach as far.
Anyone know where a guy can get a 12 inch heat shield.. all I see is 13 13.5 etc.. I'd like to have a heat shield and a particular flash light mount.. any info appreciated thanks
I actually put a couple gauze pads on the barrel when I put the heat sheild on. I havnt had any issues with the finish. Although the Maverick 88 is a blue finish. I could see it scratching a parkerized finish.
@TheMedievalMan The differences I am aware of are the saftey and the foreend. the saftey is on the trigger guard, as appose to the top tang saftey on the 500, and the forend on the 88 does not come off, The 500 forend comes off. Those are the only differences I am aware of.
hay man iv got a mavrick 88 too and my ati heat sheild will not stop sliding up while im shooting. Its getting very frustrating because iv tightend it so tight that iv broken screws and it still moves after only 8 or 9 shots. Im in love with my ghost ring sights that r mounted on the heat sheild and i really dont want to get rid of it. Can anyone help me out?
Yeah you may have the longer forened that wont allow it to be closed with the 6 shot holder. Some people just get the 6 shot and cut where it gets blocked, But if It were mine, I would just get the 4 shot holder.
Did you have any problems with the heat shield scratching the barrel during install? I was wanting to get one but most of the reviews for it say it messes up the finish.
@stallingbullet Sure you could. You could purchase the 28 inch barrel for it as well. Then when your done hunting, You put your short barrel back on for home deffense. At least thats what im planning on doing.
Do you have trouble with the ATI heatshield sliding forward when shooting? Because Ill fire 5 shots of birdshot and it will slide about 1/2 inch to the front of the barrel lug, Its not really a functionality problem but it does make the heat shield not fit flush with the reciever. I know the mossberg heat sheilds dont have this problem because there is a stop underneath it to prevent it from sliding forward.
@Riflemanm16a2 lol Yeah I frequent a few forms. The side saddle was 30 bucks. There are more expensive ones out there but this one has held up just fine. As long as you use some sort of Gun tight for the screws. I installed it in 10 minutes. Nice and easy mod for the money.
@boozeye66 The shell holder mounts by removing a couple screws that go through the receiver. Its very easy. It is a ATI shell holder. and the instructions that come with it are very easy to follow. I am not handy at all and don't own many tools, and I was able to put it on in about 10 minutes.
thats a nice 88 . I just bought one and put a hogue pistol grip in it....my 88 just has a single action rod so i couldnt attach the hogue forend, solid gun at a great price !!!
It's nice that shotguns are so affordable so you can use the money to accessorize. Maybe I missed it, but how much did you pay for the side saddle? I want to get one for the Mossberg 500. Oh yeah, funny thing: I was searching for something on a gun forum and I saw a post from you about your CZ 75B. I guess the internet is a small world. lol.
@Highflyer2250 No extra drilling was needed. It seems like it might be a difficult install, But it was surprisingly easy. Involves taking out a screw here and there, But everything you need comes with the side saddle. Literally took me 10 minutes to install. Very easy to do.
You can order an aftermarket forearm and once you get it you can measure to find out if it's 6 3/4 or 7 3/4 then order a mb 500 slide tube and nut of relative length. Inside tip ;)
@MRALANCJACKSONJR I got the heat sheild from cheaper then dirt. Its the ATI heat shield for the Mossberg 500. If it says its for the Mossberg 500, It will fit the Maverick 88.
Thank you so much. I have a maverick 88 with retractable butt stock, shotshell holder, camo cheek weld pad, sling, red dot and flashlight. I use it for police patrol and it is an excellent shotgun. The fact that is costs only 200 bucks is simply AMAZING.
the 'issue' with the fore end contacting the side saddle are caused by 'user error', not with the side saddle, by ppl installing it on a 'field' model that has an 'over lapping' fore end that, when cycled rearward, covers a portion of the reciever (like on hunting/fowl models). The problem its USERS trying to attach accessories NOT intended for their model. The onus is on the buyer to ensure the accessory fits/functions on their firearm.
I have that forend on my Maverick 88. I really don't care for the side saddle so it doesn't bother me that much. Plus the look and feel of my forend there's much more to my preference then the round corn cob Style. It also comes back a little further so it might make it more comfortable for smaller shooters or once with shorter arms.
I'm thinking about getting a Maverick 88. I'm a bit of a beginner, though, and I'm unsure about what barrel lengths are available and which one I should get. Any advice?
+brachio1000 depends On what you want to do with. If its strictly home defense go with which barrel length your comfortable with, Or you could spend a little more and get a Mossberg 500 and buy different barrel sizes to suit your needs. For home defense anything between 18 and 20 inch is a great length, But thats just my opinion. The 88 has been reliable and I've had no issues with it. I also have a 870 and 500 now. All great choices.
If you want it for home defense go with the 18 inch smooth lug berral if u r hunting like birds go with the 24 to 26 inch bird berral with removable chokes
brachio1000 Please find the video about the Mossberg drop problem. If you drop it from 8" or more a pin in the side drops out of the hole. Moving the forend slightly forward and back will reset it. Forcing a full stroke in this condition will jam the gun requiring disassembly.
actually, the explanation is EASY. If you open the action then look inside you'll see the ejector. Its held in by a SCREW. THAT'S the screw he's talking about. Its replaced with a longer screw that will be proud of the reciever (on the left side) and allows for the saddle plate to be mounted to the left side of the reciever. See, EASY.
Why can't mossberg make their 18.5 inch barrels with a longer tube to be able to hold at least 6 shells? I don't really want to swap the barrel out with a 20 inch for the sake of adding more shells.
I think it's because of the 28" barrel model. The 28" barrel is interchangeable with the 18.5". So to Mossberg, making a model with a longer magazine tube would be a "loss of money". Kinda sucks. Wish they did have a longer magazine tube that would be ~18"
It mounts by removing the trigger housing pin. Also one screw is removed from inside the chamber. The side saddle attached though the replacement screws you are provided with in the kit. Its kind of hard to explain, But you should be able to find a youtube video of someone installing theirs. Good Luck.
@Ramos2905 Thanks. My buddy has the ATI folding stock. Although it looks cool when folded. Shooting it while the stock is extended kind of hurts. I still wouldn't mind getting one for myself. He really likes his. I probably would have gotten the folding stock if I hadn't had found this stock on sale.
The first time I put it on, It felt like it rubbed against the forend very lightly, But after racking it a few times it went away. It did not leave any marks on the forend.
I have tried the Hogue rubber pistol grip before on my friends shotgun and it felt great. i am not sure if they make a wood one, but hell. I've found weirder gun products before.
@Gumbie2009 You dont want mine, Its beat to hell, lol. I am actually putting it on my new shotgun and putting the KNOX stock on my 88 instead. It costs more, but its worth it in the end.
I have a maverick 88 bought it brand new about 5 months ago then I went shooting one day it was cold. The forend broke right where it was pinned. No worries though I have a Mossberg 500 action tube slide coming
@FullmetaljacketJ No reason, I guess its just persoanl preference. I wasnt a fan of the way they look. Plus I had already had the regular heat sheild on it.
I would check out the mossberg forums, some good info there and someone might have had the same issue as you. Wish I could be of more help, But my heat sheild has never moved when shooting.

What brand side saddle is that. I just picked up a Maverick with the 8 round tube and want to put a good side saddle on her.

@gpsupersport Go to your local dunhams, they have em there you can buy them and they are very easy to put on, goes right into your stock!

I am getting this gun. But my local place has it "on sale" for $220. where did you get it for $156????
Does it hurt ur hand with a pistol grip and have u shot slugs out of ur shotty

Don't waist the clowns time lmao!!!!! Do you know if you can use a choke tube on that model
@jermz999 better than a bb gun
also is it a good idea to get knoxx recoil reducing pistol girp (no stock).
I hated the plastic pistol grip. Hurts your hand after 25 shots of birdshot
I actually put a couple gauze pads on the barrel when I put the heat sheild on. I havnt had any issues with the finish. Although the Maverick 88 is a blue finish. I could see it scratching a parkerized finish.
I say go for it. Not to pricey and worse case you don't like it, you can just take it off. Mine works great and actually works for me.
@TheMedievalMan The differences I am aware of are the saftey and the foreend. the saftey is on the trigger guard, as appose to the top tang saftey on the 500, and the forend on the 88 does not come off, The 500 forend comes off. Those are the only differences I am aware of.

whats that above the mosin?
Its looking good jermz... what do you think of the ati folding stock? The one thats folds over.

Too bad Mossberg refuses to support this shotgun. They will NOT supply any barrels.

I think I just want mine stock for what I got it for.
Long barrel or short?
@@goatguns6910 mine is the 18.5 inch barrel. Wanted it for my home, on a budget raising a family.
@@Nick-Stewbreeze yeah it's a great gun for that. Theres a $25 heat shield on amazon that goes nice on that short barrel
@akadj1 Yes it is. Its my Mosin Nagant 91/30 7.62x54r. Good eye:)
I just bought one and I'm thinking of putting a heat shield.....what do u think
can a security Maverick 88 with a 20" barrel be replaced by a 26" or 28" barrel without changing the magazine tube?
yes there's one right next to me in the gun safe we live in. (he dont have an account yet)
you sure can
not if the magazine tube holds seven. Called Mossberg direct and the don't have a longer barrel for the mag tube of that size
I added so much useless crap to my gun just to make it heavier
Javier Evora just remove it. No shame if it’s too heavy for you.
@@jermz999 oh na i like it heavy i even added a makeshift bayonet
