Thanks for posting this. I would never have thought to raise the swinging arm to give more clearance. I'm about to fit a Nitron shock tomorrow to my GSXs1000GT. Some really good tips including checking for clearance on the remote reservoir and hydraulic preload adjuster
@@thelostchronicles after your help very smoothly thanks I’ve done a 230km ride and now 450km ride. Front end sorted (Nitron 25mm cartridges). I need to make a few small adjustments to the rebound damping and ride height and then I’ll be happy. The rebound adjuster is too close to the exhaust to touch when the bike has ran
Thank you for taking the time to post this. I found this interesting, I've spent the day researching rear shocks for mine. Looks like the K-Tech is worth the extra money over the Hyperpro & Nitron. Curious, now its been over a year are you still happy with the result? Did you do anything to the forks? Thanks again Tris
I chose this shock for the remote, primarily. I want to be able to sit on the bike and make adjustments without having to dismount or remove the pillion seat. Everyone has different requirements, though, and the K-Tech seemed perfect. Admittedly, I saved up for it but have no regrets. As for the forks, I set those up for my weight prior to installing the new shock. They are still dialed in just right. I think I'd flash my ECU before upgrading the front, mostly to eliminate the fuel cut on deceleration.
@@thelostchronicles I ended up with K Tech front and rear in the end, flashed the ECU with a Woolich map and K&N filter and full arrow exhaust. Did a tour around Wales and just couldn’t get on with it - can’t say I didn’t try with this bike! All those upgrades have been removed and sold. Bit of a waste of time and money retrospectively, but least I tried 👍🏻
Thanks for the video 👍 I am changing my shock on the same bike to the same K Tech shock..... how have you found it? More compliant, comfortable, noticeably different to stock? Could you explain please? Thanks
For me it completely transformed the bike. The OEM shock, while stiff enough, had too much rebound (which was not adjustable). Had a close call on the street, while leaned over, and it sealed the deal for me. It's a corner on a back-country road with a dip just before the apex. That night I ordered the K-Tech. IMO the shock is the very first thing to invest in on this bike. The second thing is to get the ECU tweaked to disable the fuel cut on deceleration. You won't regret it.
@@thelostchronicles Thanks for the reply. I ordered my Razor R shock and waiting for it to arrive so I am looking forward to it. Yes I also reflashed my ECU and the bike now has been transformed into something so so much better. Very happy with what I got now. Hope your suspension is working well for you. My plan is to install the shock and put all the clickers to the standard setting and go from there. Have you set the sag and used your clickers for fine tuning yet? If so have you noticed the sensitivity of them as you adjust? Thanks again Jeff (Australia)
Thank you for posting this and sharing your experience. Pop ups were added entertainment! Would love to see follow up video or comment here on your experience with the new shock. Worth the upgrade? Thank you.
I'm still tinkering with settings so I can share some wisdom when I do the follow-up video. Stay tuned. And, yes, absolutely worth it. The bike is transformed so much that, initially, it was like riding a completely different bike. As a bonus, the infamous "snatchy" throttle mostly disappears because the bike is rolling much smoother.
Hi mate good job , can i just say if you had of feed the reservoir first before you put the shock in position would it not have been a bit easier ? .. anyway nice to see mate ..how's the shock and have you got a link to the one you bought . Cheers .
You are absolutely correct. If I were to do it again I would feed the reservoir up through the swingarm first. I was just overwhelmed with trying to record the steps that I wasn't really thinking ahead enough. The good news is it all worked out in the end. I'll post a follow-up video in the near future. Here's the link: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/k-tech-rcu-razor-r-rear-shock-suzuki-gsxs-1000-f-2016-2018
your either a genuis or a magician!! there is nooo way i could get my shock out without dropping the exhaust off. just wondering why you didnt actually show any footage of the shock coming out OR going in? and one more thing, how the hell did you keep you hands so clean?

How did the Nitron swap go? A lot of folks love that shock as well.

Thanks man, fixed it in 1,5 hours with this video
Glad it helped!
Thanks for a great video . Gonna fit mine today . Great to see someone fix this bikes real shortcoming . Handling first , then power.
Thanks for posting this! Going to try the same with a few tweaks. Will post results at the end
Awesome, glad to help! If you end up posting a video, leave a link here so others can find it. The more how-to's the better IMO. Good luck.

I did break a nail!
great video, thanks. what is the code for your pannier rack?
Hope the video helped. There are 2 parts needed for the Givi rack: TST3110 (the actual rack) and 3110KIT (an adapter for the tail of the bike).
@@thelostchronicles Thanks - thought it was a plx type rack in the video, but as you have said it is a TST soft case rack.
Tell me about your s1000 with fairing
De gsxr 1000 no son válidos?
Lamentablemente no.
Hey mate Im fitting mine in a couple of days....did the reservoir end up hitting the hugger after you rode the bike?
I've not experienced any contact at all. Good luck with your install!
@@thelostchronicles thanks mate
