      I make it in my instant pot I know it's not the traditional way but i love it. Yes please on the chickens I thought chickens for eggs became meat chickens eventually but I guess not lol

      The instant pot is great! I will add the meat chickens video to my list of videos to make, thank you! The layers can become meat ones, too :)

      @@mariyoreo I just bought an Instant pot and I was curious for how long do you cook the broth.

    I've wondered about putting salt in your bone broth. I thought that Sally Fallon said it hinders the release of minerals from the bones, but vinegar helps extract the minerals (like you mentioned). It sure improves the flavour! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge through your videos Marissa. We live in Northern Alberta on a relatively self-sustaining farm and also raise our own meat and dairy - making up to 30 varieties of artisan goat cheeses for our winter storage!

    We raised our first 100 meat birds last year.. we thought they would sell good but ppl really dont know or want to know how much better they are raised on pasture..and dont want to pay the extra bit. That's okay! I love the fact I have plenty for myself lol

      Good for you for raising them! Yes, I find that the education has to be there in order for people to know WHY pasture raised is so much better. Usually they can taste the difference right away, too, if they go ahead and buy one :)

    I live in a town-home and would like to know how to raise chicken. I'm just curious about the slow cook, what about if you let the lid a little bit open, that could be the perfect temperature? ...just wondering. I like your videos.

      Thank you! I will plan a video on chickens :) I have experimented with the lid a bit, and I think it depends where you live. We have a pretty dry climate here, so if I leave the lid off, it tends to evaporate the water quickly. Good thought, though! Maybe it would work in another climate.

      When I do the warm setting, it doesn't seem quite hot enough to be a simmer; I don't see bubbles rising. I think we need to invent a broth crockpot that stays at the right temperature! I will plan a video on chickens :)

    Do you make a beef bone broth, and do you have to roast the chicken or the beef bones before making the broth?

    • @bumblebeeapothecary
      @bumblebeeapothecary  4 роки тому

      Yes! I am planning to do a video on beef bone broth. I do like to roast beef bones before making broth, to get the best flavor. When I make chicken bone broth I use bones from an already roasted whole chicken. :)

    How long can u be saving chicken bones for before you make broth . I’m 1 person household .
    Is instapot ok to make chicken broth ?
    After you make broth w the bones do you use same bones for another batch of broth or do you need all new bones? Thank you

    • @bumblebeeapothecary
      @bumblebeeapothecary  2 роки тому

      You can store chicken bones in the freezer until you have enough to make broth. You can use the Instant pot, and I use new bones for each batch :)

    I know you are super busy but could you perhaps make a video called Nourishing traditions for dummies or like a where to start on this diet book? I am doing gaps but am trying to do nourishing traditions for my kids who HATE gaps soups right now. we are relearning everything and I'm stuck.

    I'd love to see how you do your chickens? We have egg layers and do not have a rooster but it daughter will give us fertilised eggs when the girls go Broody. We just hatched our first 3 chicks and they are cute. The rosters will be slaughtered. My daughter does this in their homestead and say it's so much easier to let the Mama's hatch and raise them. More natural but your don't get 50 at a time either. The balance and figuring it the journey is sick an adventure!
