    You remind me of my friend. She always had a baby on her hip while she works throughout her day. She had 6 little ones. They are grown now and she didn’t know what to do. She loves the little ones so much. Grandchildren are starting to come now 😂 Thank you for all your hard work and teaching us. You are truly blessed.

    I make a combination of nuts and also add dehydrated cranberries and some green powder to give it more of a rounded nutrient boost.

    Add orange oil, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, and stevia or monk sugar. The kids will devour it like candy! Also know that the 170 temp will destroy the probiotic of the kefir. An air fryer that sets to 105 makes a great dehydrator! Its faster and can hold a lot if it’s stirred every once in a while. Great video Marisa!

    6:40 Do NOT let your kids stick their hands into the food processor like this little guy did a few times, the knife is super sharp and an accident can easily happen. Actually a woman I know had a little mishap with her food processor knife and ended out with 7 stitches (and the forever scar) to remind her forever to be careful with food processor knives!!! 🤗❤❤❤

    Can I use kefir instead of whey to ferment the nuts?
    I want to make keto sourdough bread.
    Will fermented walnuts give the bread more of a sourdough flavour?
    Like fermented wheat flour does.

    I got so excited finding this, but got so disappointed when you added whey, because that is something I cannot get. And also, I’m plant based, so it’s also something I’d like to avoid. BUT, I do have some probiotics which usually is my go-to when I make my homemade coconut milk yoghurt. Could I add one or two of those capsules (the inside of, of course, not whole capsules)??? Do you think that would work? PS! I am planning on making a chocolate spread with the almonds. A nut butter is the start, then you add cacao (I may use carob instead, just because I love that milder chocolate flavor), sweetener (honey or whatever you like, I guess)… Sounds sooo good!!! Thanks a lot!!! 🤗❤❤❤

    Interesting. Where do you get the whey? Can something else be used? Perhaps yogurt?

    • @HVTILLVIB
      @HVTILLVIB 3 місяці тому +1

      The most common way of getting whey is by straining curdled milk or yogurt with a cheese cloth, so yes, yogurt with less water should work. If you make your own greek yogurt, this will be a great way to repurpose the isolated whey for fermenting the almonds.

    • @emilieuribe9893
      @emilieuribe9893 2 місяці тому

      @@HVTILLVIB sorry I'm french, and I just want to be certain I do understand what whey is : is it coming from making cheese or ygur , the liquid thats separates from solid part of cheese or yogur, please ?

    • @HVTILLVIB
      @HVTILLVIB 2 місяці тому

      @emilieuribe9893 Both. When making cheese or yogurt, you are involved in the process of curdling, which turns a milk protein called casein into a concentrated solid. The process usually separates this solid from the liquid that contains most of the other nutrients-this liquid is called whey.
      The result is the same for both yogurt and cheese. For yogurt, you typically use bacteria cultures to denature the milk; for cheese, you use enzymes or an acid to separate the protein.

    • @cycleofficial4744

      fermenting is supposed to remove 95 % of all anti-nutrients, by far the most effective method. raw apple cider vinegar, water kefir (vegan), kvass, sauerkraut juice, vegan joghurt, anything that has living cultures in it. Bye the way its a beautiful video, but I never heard of fermentation processes below 3 days, so rather try 3-7 days in a fermentation glass that you open for 5 seconds every day, and try them after a few days, the longer the better. You could go months on some types of fermentation and it only gets better.

      @@bumblebeeapothecary Actually soaking and fermenting are 2 difference processes, fermenting generally increase the probotic action and soaking reduces the so called antitoxins levels. There not actually anti anything; just if you eat a lot of certain food types you may be getting too much of a certain acid (phytic acid)which by the way has anti toxin actions an reduces the risk of certain cancer and bind well with iron especislly if you eat too much red meat and your getting on a bit. cons and pros =balance diet; avoid wheat,sugar and trans fats, fast food ect. fruit should be eaten first on an empty stomarch. all flour based/grains/seeds and beans contain phytic acid it dsoent make it bad but if you eat alot of these foods/ consider food seperation for digestion purposes and fermenting and soaking. But please do not get obsessed I stop eating grains daily but I still indulged everyone individual and have different tolerances to different food types so self assessment is advised.
      Again a treat now and then is not going to shorten your life or kill you but fermented foods in general are very good for your microbiome keep it healthy and your a lot less likely to get long term inflamation based disease. no guarantees.
      or if you have!change your diet and lifstyle before resorting to a life of medication, pain and low mood( Unless you relish pain and misery).
      apologise but I do like a rant hehe.
      hope that helpful.

    • @emmypoole2636
      @emmypoole2636 9 місяців тому

      Whey is a byproduct of making kefir and yogurt when they seperate. You could probably collect some from store-bought plain non greek yogurt (greek yogurt already has most of the whey strained out.) Have you ever noticed on yogurt there is sometimes a thin watery, sometimes yellow tinted fluid on top? that's whey! If you see that on your yogurt, pour it into a small jar and you can use it to ferment your nuts.

    • @stephanieriddell1863
      @stephanieriddell1863 9 місяців тому

      @@emmypoole2636 Thanks for getting back to me, when I looked further into it, I was told that greek yogurt has the most whey & that's why the protein is higher in that yogurt than others. I totally know the watery stuff you're speaking of :) I did see a lot more in the greek yogurt, but some greek yogurt that is low in protein, I would assume doesn't have as much whey. If I'm correct, more protein, more whey :)

    Can I use apple cider vinegar to ferment nuts? If so, how much would I use per 1 cup of almonds?

    • @bumblebeeapothecary
      @bumblebeeapothecary  3 роки тому

      I'm not sure if it would work the same way, but I'm guessing it would be better than not fermenting at all! I'd probably dilute the ACV in water and use enough to cover the almonds.

    @Bumblebee Apothecary Coconut oil gives me heart burn, can I use olive oil?? Or what would you recommend in place of coconut oil?

    • @bumblebeeapothecary
      @bumblebeeapothecary  3 роки тому

      Yes! Olive oil or avocado oil would work, it might make the nut butter a bit thinner at room temp.

    My oven temperature stays a consistent 100 degrees with the oven light left on. Would this be a good temperature for dehydrating the nuts?

      @bumblebeeapothecary  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, that would be even better! The lower temp will preserve the enzymes :)

      Yes! You can use a vegetable fermentation starter packet: amzn.to/345J8Te

      I get whey from homemade yogurt or kefir. You can scoop some out if you see it in the jar, or you can strain it from yogurt in a colander lined with cheesecloth :)

      I make whey by dripping homemade yogurt or kefir :) Whey powders are highly processed and not recommended.

    how exactly is it easier to digest with mounds of coconut oil added? now my almond butter tastes more like coconut butter and not almond butter - it infuses the entire butter and it's gross; and yes, I used organic extra virgin coconut oil - I am trying to use less oil in my diet, I didn't watch the entire video before making which was a big mistake - I did like the fermented nuts and I thank you for that recipe but I like the recipe where the person just makes almond butter in their blender (Vitamix) and nothing added, only almonds

      Buy a good quality yogurt with live probiotics and strain it, just get a regular one, not the greek one because you won’t get any whey from that.

      I haven't seen or heard of one yet, but the AVC idea is a good one to try! Otherwise, something like a fermented brine might work, too :)
