You just saved me a whole bunch of money, and time, and energy, and sanity!!! Thanks sooo much for the video! You're awesome and spoonflower is awesome! I do embroidery by hand, and I was literally considering doing 300 labels by hand cuz ordering them is an expense that I can't take on right now. Thanks again😀😀👏👏💖💖
Thanks so much for sharing this idea for making fabric labels. I was about to order from another site and spend $44 on only 100 label. This has saved me a TON of money!! Thanks again!
Ms. Melaine Ham, this shared tutorial was very helpful! I never thought to use interfacing with the labels but I certainly will add that step in my process of finishing my product. I wish you continued success!
You can upload your image size and set up all the "repeats" on the spoonflower site within their editing system, makes it super easy!! So it works for any size image and is fully customizable.
I love all your videos but this video I think I have watched so many times 😂 every time I watched my plan was to look into ordering fabric labels. I always end up thinking I can get locally made labels lol. Today is the day I think I'm going to try ordering. Thank you so much I have learned a lot from you. 😍
Thank you Melanie this is so helpful and I can’t wait for my order! All your vids are so organized and methodic making it so easy for beginners. Thanks for sharing all the tips! 👏
I zigzag stitch my labels into my projects. .results in no frayed edges..thx for this video. .this so much cheaper than the company I ordered my labels from long time ago.. .I will try spoonflower nx time ..
9/23/21: I spray some Sulky temporary adhesive on an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper and stick it down onto some muslin or cotton material, which I've ironed before the fact. Cut away any excess, choose a font and size on your computer and type your label info. Add a heart, smiley face or whatever logo you want in b/w or color and place the sheet in your printer, material side down, and print it out. You can get quite a few on a sheet and the cost is next to nothing. You can't go wrong and you can get majorly creative with it. Just sharing.
@@kourtneyalameda7727 When after its printed, you need to peel away the fabric from the paper leaving you with the print on the fabric. The paper is only used as a buffer to get it through the printer.
I ironed it on my ironing board. If the instructions say a hard surface, like for the t-shirt transfers etc, I have little wood side table and I will put some batting down to protect it and press on that. A pressing board would work too!
Thanks for the information and tutorial, Melanie! I've been looking for a simple label to add to my projects and I think this type will actually be quick and easy! Awesome! :)
Thanks, Melanie! This is exactly what I was looking for - much easier than printing to heat-transfer paper and ironing to each and every label!!! Don't know if you answered this below, but which fabric did you order from Spoonflower? They have several options to choose from. At 2:04 in your video you show it. It sort of looks satin-like, but I'm not sure. Which do you think works best? Thanks!
Hi Melanie I'm trying to get the correct sizing for my labels i'd like them the same size as yours is there a manual function that I'm missing? I only sees the smaller or bigger tab.
thank you so much for sharing this! As a single mom/full time teacher I need as many cost effective ways to help me build by little space on etsy. Thank you again! :)
would you plz make a video on how you created the label and got it spaced like you did on spoonflower. I'm am so confused. I'm trying to do it but its not coming out looking right.
Hi Melanie! I'm looking to make some fabric labels for some glass jars. So they need to be self adhesive. Is there any way you can suggest for that please?
Well there are many different kinds of weights... lightweight to heavyweight and also sew in versus fusible. It really all depends on the project and what type of fabric... maybe I should do a video on it haha, it can be kind of complicated lol ;)
What kind of fabric do you get? Cotton? Does it have a name? Could you make a video tutorial uploading a design to see the process? Thank You for sharing!
Ha! I was just planning on researching getting labels made for my projects!! Thanks! I'm going to make some that just say "handmade by.." and my name. :)
Just curious.... could you not just use the fusible interfacing and then print and skip the freezer paper step. Fusible interfacing makes it stiff with the paper backing on...?
Has anyone used a double sided fusible so you can just iron on the label to the item? If so, what did you use? Thank you so much for this idea. Spoonflower is really easy to use.
Though you technically didn't make the labels, I think it's a brilliant idea. What fabric did you choose from Spoonflower? Was it just the linen-cotton or the petal cotton or something else?
hello :) what size are your labels? (1.61in x 0.8in??) i'm in the process of making my own but i'm a little unsure of what size to get. I made clothes, kimonos, backless halters and such... thank you in advance xxx
Hello. I love your videos. I was just wondering. Is 1.33 x 0.33 the normal length and width of a regular size label. Or is that too big. This is what sunflower said the width and length of my labels are going to be. Please contact me before I order. I like the way yours are nice and small. I don't like big.
No, I don't sell anything that requires that information, so I am not sure where to direct you to. Seems like that information may be on your state's business website?
+Melanie Ham When you first began the process (before you uploaded your file to spoonflower) did you create your labels on an actual Word label program? Then you saved in a format that spoonflower accepts? Thanks in advance - love all your tutorials!
This is just such a great video! Thank you for sharing as I was unaware that companies could do that! Is it possible to have them made on a continuous ribbon, to stick out of seams ( like a loop)?
Melanie... sorry if this has been asked, but after getting through about 10 replies and the snarky responses from some people, I decided not to go further. My question... did you upload a single logo to spoonflower and they created the repeat or did you upload exactly what we see on the far quarter? If so, how did you create that large piece of logos? Hope this isn’t too confusing. Thank you and I promise not to be snarky with you! ❤️
Terri Shaver , in one of her replies , she says she downloads one label design to the Spoonflower website and uses the website to repeat the design as many times in whichever size she needs. I had wondered the same thing. Sounds like she got good service from Spoonflower, although the fabric looked like a very poor quality. Perhaps for this application, it works. I have read horrible reviews for their fabrics, the faded colors they use, and their customer service. Such a shame, because I almost tried them. Good luck!
Did you iron the interfacing on your cutting mat? where do you iron when instructions say a hard surface? I ironed on my cutting mat once and it got wavy! :-S
The Pellon SF101 doesn't come from Spoonflower. It's an adhesive backing that you can get from the fabric store to stiffen the fabric that you order. Helps so the labels don't fray when you cut them. The question I have is which fabric did she order from the site. They have a few options.
I'm a bit lost here.... does Spoonflower make the printed label material, and then send this to you? Tho' you can design your own idea, for them to manufacture?
You make your own design, upload it on to spoonflower.com, choose which fabric you want & the size then you add it to your cart, pay for it, Spoonflower will print them on to the fabric & size of fabric you paid for & then they will mail it to you.
Hi Melanie thanks for the video. Question, after i did the interfacing my tags turn out to be quite thick what machine needle do you recommend using? 14 or 16 ballpoint? Btw i'd be sewing that onto my crochet stuff. let me know thanks.
did you use the same cotton i used? You might need a standard needle and not a ball point so that it will go through the woven, I would say 14, 16 seems a little large.
@ Melanie Ham. Good morning. I am in the process of getting my logo Trademark, and needed a Product Specimen. If I made a product label using the same type of fabric and Spoonflower software to put on my shirts, will I be infringing on your style. I didn't want to get into any trouble if I make a label the way that you suggested. Thanks!
Question, I had some labels made from spoonflower which I love but don't know how to space them apart like yours. when I got mine they are very close together. is it something I have to do or something else? thank you so much

You’re a lifesaver!
ty I just ordered new labels I have satin but needed some cotton, full ordering process about 7 minutes to get it done. TY for your video.
Love this!!! How did I not know about Spoonflower? definitely going to design and print my own labels now. Thanks for sharing.

YESS!!! Thank you! I have been looking for a beautiful/inexpensive way to put a fabric tag on baby blankets I make. Thanks! Super excited now!
Kathryn Zukauskas woohoo, happy to help!

HEY MELANIE!! MY LAST NAME IS BIGHAM! ILY

Hi Melanie
I'm trying to get the correct sizing for my labels i'd like them the same size as yours is there a manual function that I'm missing? I only sees the smaller or bigger tab.
I would be interested to know what fabric you use at spoonflower, what dpi was used, and what font size your template was.
thank you so much for sharing this! As a single mom/full time teacher I need as many cost effective ways to help me build by little space on etsy. Thank you again! :)
How did you make the label image? Did you use a specific program?
Wow! Thank You for the video.
Good one Melanie. Thank you!
I went to the website and got started but I'm having trouble deciding what would be a good size? What size image did you select?
I would definitely enjoy making my own personal label for my quilts... Great video...
That's really useful! Thx Melanie!

What a great idea. I was wondering what size are your tags I would like to have mine to be the same size on spoonflower
mine are roughly 2 3/4 x 3/4. Happy Sewing!

I’m lost on the spoonflower website, what do I look for?
what kind of fabric did you use for your tags from spoon flower? Is it the organic cotton sateen ?
How did you print your label onto the fabric?
Thank you for the tips..would I be able to us the on crochet item. If yes would you have time on how to place them..
Have you attached tags using double cap snap ons? if so, could you please show how to do it? I am stuck. Please & thank you

Great tutorial!!! I'm wanting to know however what type of white fabric in this video you chose to put your logo on from Spoonflower?
iheartstitching Ok so what exactly do you use from Kona? I mean color etc? Like Kona white fabric or what?
look around cheaper options for fabric shops out there like carriage house or Gypsy soul or Stogner custom printing
Thank you so much. Awesome video.
This is awesome, thank you!
How did u print your logo on the fabric itself and what fabric did u use?
Which fabric from spoon flower did you use ? You talk about the interfacing brand, but not the fabric selection. Please advise.
Right there with you. I need more instructions on this. I'm wondering if the site has changed since this video.
would it be easier to just order the fabric in cotton versus satin, and eliminate the interfacing?
+Melanie Ham When you first began the process (before you uploaded your file to spoonflower) did you create your labels on an actual Word label program? Then you saved in a format that spoonflower accepts? Thanks in advance - love all your tutorials!

hi love your video! I was wondering if you just did one design and they multiplied it or did you write out an entire sheet and upload it?
limsmy they have the repeat function in the upload on the spoonflower website
Great idea, thanks for sharing :)
I was wondering though- do the labels not fray?
1:50 she mentioned some products
If you sew the label to a clothing item, can you then machine wash it? Will the label hold up?
Hello, I don't see the Pellon SF101 in the option, which fabric that you choose in Spoonflower? Thanks
The Pellon SF101 doesn't come from Spoonflower. It's an adhesive backing that you can get from the fabric store to stiffen the fabric that you order. Helps so the labels don't fray when you cut them.
The question I have is which fabric did she order from the site. They have a few options.
Great video! Thanks :)
Thanks for this tutorial, it was very helpful.
Какая приятная молодая женщина-творит роскошные вещи
What size is your design for labels?
Is your pellon fuseable? Didn't know if you ironed it to crisp it flat or if it was to fuse it to the fabric. :)
Thank you!! Looooove your videos btw!
Ashley May yes it is 1 sided fusible ;)

Increíble gracias x compartir
So you send them your logo and they print it on their fabric... They mail to you and then you cut and use... Is that correct?
Any issues with the ink bleeding?
that would make a great label!

Hi there! I'm currently on the website and I am having a hard time finding the fabric you picked. Which one is it again? Thanks!
What type of fabric did you select for your lables?
So you design it, submit it, and wait for them to send it to you?
Thanks for the tutorial, I think I'll try with my embroidery machine, and see if it works :)
Question, I had some labels made from spoonflower which I love but don't know how to space them apart like yours. when I got mine they are very close together. is it something I have to do or something else? thank you so much
+Reesie Bentley I spaced mine apart within the spoonflower upload feature

Hey how did you make your design repeat itself
I don't see an option for any Pellon fabric at Spoonflower...
Hi I've tried to upload my logos, but they are too blur. May I know what resolution and sized you used for your photos?
