well I don't make enough to pay for a video reation but do enjoy your reactions but If did have enough I would put you onto Lovebites and Asami's Operatic style of singing like Iron Maidens Bruce Springsteen only she's the female version.
That's so crazy! I had the same reaction from my son when he was 3. I would drive him to daycare and had to play it over and over for him and he would sing along. 😊
Came out right after I turned 1 and my mom said I went nuts every time it was on the radio. Go figure, I would became a rock guitarist and still love the song.
one of the best damned guitarist ever. Many , many bands call BOC one of their inspirations. Buck Dharma, lead Guitar. The MOST underrated guitarist in my opinion.
That no dinosaur....thats GODZILLA....AHHHHHUHHHH 😂😂 i saw them for the first time in 78 and when Godzilla appeared it brought the house down, he had lazer beams coming out out his eyes and smoke and fire...crazy man. Im not sure but that might have been the Black and Blue tour with Black Sabbath. I cant remember, it was foggy in my brain. But ive have seen them a handful of times and they rocked it out evertime.
Hi Maggie, I do believe that you got short changed. The song is longer then that both live and studio. It's even longer live because there is also a little drum solo in there that the drummer does. I could see that you liked the song, so I didn't want you to miss out on getting to hear the rest of it. Great reaction!
@@thomasmacdiarmid8251 Then at the end of that, people get confused on what he's saying. They don't realize that he's speaking in Japanese. Lol Year's ago when I first heard it, l didn't know what was going on either. It was quite a while later when I finally found out.
Can't believe I must be psychic.. after not hearing this song for years was listening to it yesterday, today my girl MaggieRenee enjoying it. Love you girl
Thanks! In the Kaiju movies Godzilla is sometimes a good guy, especially when it comes to his arch rival three headed King Ghidorah. 🤣Loved your reaction! 🦖
Another BOC song you might want to check out is Then Came The Last Days Of May, performed at their concert called Long Days Night, which they played on the summer solstice June 21, 2002 at Chicago's Navy Pier. Highly, Highly recommend. 😀
The good old Capitol Centre was my home concert venue for years. Saw BOC in 1981 there and had a great time! This song was awesome to see live as the lights went dark and when they came on, the drummer had on a Godzilla mask on then proceeded to begin his drum solo.
One of my favorite bands...simply because they weren't too mainstream. And they were odd. 😊 I saw them probably about 25 times thru the years, but the last time was 20 years ago. I got old, too! Props to these guys...they are "ON TOUR FOREVER!"
"They loaded up on beer and cocaine Then they started their bikes with a roar They couldn't have known that on that night They were beginning their longest tour" - Feel The Thunder
It was said that they originally had a complete version of the Godzilla matching the head for stadiums. A couple of remastered versions of songs live are “ Veterans of the Psychic Wars “ and Astronomy “ from the eighties.
What this song is about is how Mankind creates their Godzillas, and their Nuclear bombs and Artificial Intelligences, and truly We have no control over what we are doing.
I FELT them at an outdoor concert in 1987 in Kingston NH. I was standing against the chain link fence 10 fee from the stage / speaker stack and my pant legs were moving from the kick drum beats. Yes my ears rang for three days as well.
Since you've already done this reaction to Godzilla, you might not want to do a reaction, but BoC has a covid lockdown version of Godzilla that you really should check out.
I live in “the outer boroughs” of New York City, and we ADORED rock bars. In the 70’s the drinking age was 18. And we all had fake ID’s anyway. But Blue Oyster Cult would sometimes play in a rock bar under the pseudonym “Soft White Underbelly”, Oh to be a teenager in the 70’s❤
Soft White Underbelly and Stalk Forest Group were earlier band names before they came up with "Blue Oyster Cult". I believe they sometimes used those names to play smaller venues when BoC was a big name in the 80's. Can't remember where I read that. Long time ago. Fun fact: "Stalk Forest" is referenced in their Cultosaurus Erectus album artwork.
These guys are still rockin' it. Saw them last month, 49y and 8m after the first time...with 35 or 36 visits in between. Some visits were ummm...altered and some not so much. Every visit was incredible. This time I got to hear the three songs I truly needed to hear which made the show that much more special.
It's not in a video game but they do use the song on the "Godzilla" pinball machine. You have a choice of using the original Godzilla theme from the Toho films or the Blue Oyster Cult song.
One of the reasons BOC never got bigger than they are (in spite of a couple of iconic hits) is that they never conformed to a single sound--every album was something different and if you are a fan, you learn to appreciate it all, albeit with favorites.
Spinal Tap was based on anecdotes by several bands, and BOC is suspected to be one of the largest contributors. This song revived their stalling career in Japan, because they did speak Japanese.
You are awesome Maggie, that is a😅 great song. The emoji was by accident; but it fits, loved your reaction. I hear you about the bass, by the way he introduced it you would think he'd be thundering away. But that break gave the song a chance to breathe. See you again soon.
Unfortunately, you only saw one-half of the song (performance). Normally at this point, drummer Albert Bouchard would perform his drum solo, followed by a return to the song. Thanks for another fine reaction video.
You have to checkout Blue Oyster Cults' spot on cover of the Ronettes 1965 hit, Be My Baby! That will give you perspective of how diverse this band is.
One of their biggest hits off of one of their best albums, Specters is great, start to finish and definitely worth a full listen when you can. You just saw the original band, the 1970s is their classic period though they still made some great music after drummer/vocalist Albert Bouchard left in 1980 or so. As long ad Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom are in the band, they always sound like BOC. Great band until this day, they still play around, seen them 19 times 1972 - 2013, they always delivered. Try Nosferatu from the same album, do the studio original for an amazing noir vibe about vampires. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶
I saw Johnny Van Zant (when he was solo) open for .38 Special, open for BOC. At the end, BOC brought Todd Rundgren out on stage for Don't Fear The Reaper.
Keep in mind, while some tweaking could occur during recording, at the time this was recorded auto tune did not exist. Saw them in 2019 and they still sound as good. As for this song, I may or may not have used it for my mother in law's ring tone.😂 (She thought it was pretty funny!)
BOC has always done well in Japan, and are credited as inspirations to many of todays bands, including A7X and Ghost. My favourite, and most seen live show! Peace from Nebraska.😊
I saw BOC, Heart, Rossington Collins Band and others in Orlando at a Football Stadium. BOC did this Song with the Big Godzilla (Inflatable I Believe). I'm glad that I grew up with this music back then. I'm OLDDDDDDDD 😂.
This version is incomplete, it is missing the ending. My favorite version of "Godzilla" is from the 1981 Hollywood Florida concert. ( Rick Downey drum solo.)
I recently heard that BOC and Black Sabbath were touring together and that BS were “standoffish” and were “pissed that the Godzilla figure would take an hour to be taken down” b3fore they would take the stage.
There are so many great songs in BOC's library, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Check out their 1988 album "Imaginos". It's an album length sci-fi rock opera. In particular, "The Siege and Investiture of the Castle Frankenstein" should be right up your alley. Carpe Diem! I saw them at a open air show with 30000 of my closest friends in the summer of 1993. That show was Rare Earth, Iron Butterfly, BOC, the Guess Who and the Doobie Brothers. What a line up. I threw my Godzilla T-shirt on the stage in tribute. I nearly hit Buck Dharma but he side stepped it easily. I'd apologize to him if I ever get the chance but he probably won't remember. A few years later, a friend's band was thier opening act in a small club in Murray, Utah. 🏯🗼⛩️🦖
"Imaginos" is beautiful, heavy and dreamy. Really a BoC-related side project originally by Al Bouchard (drummer) and Sandy Pearlman (writer/producer). Such a shame Columbia changed the order of the tracks, had them reworked (by BoC I believe, without Al Bouchard) and then threw away some of the songs to make it less of a financial risk. It was very upsetting at the time.
6:25 ROFL, I recognized everything but "The Ginza area" as I'm actually an American who is only fluent in anime and video games (since the late 80's)...I got, "Please be aware, Godzilla is on his way to.....Please be aware."...but not because I actually know the context or language structure, only because I know that, "Itadakimasu" means, "Thanks for this food." and I know how emergency alerts work...I think I first made the connection in the 90's with Neon Genesis Evangelion, as there are A LOT of broadcasted messages in that anime from the "Government"...lol...
Great song, but I'm a bit disappointed that this version leaves off the last verse - which is where the main point is made: "History shows again and again "How nature points out the folly of men "Godzilla
other songs by them that you should check out, Hush, Burnin for You, and (Don't Fear) The Reaper. ...cause I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cow bell!

I had to play this song over, and over, and over again for my son when he was a toddler. He's 27 now and still loves it.
That's so crazy! I had the same reaction from my son when he was 3. I would drive him to daycare and had to play it over and over for him and he would sing along. 😊
I made sure to start my kids on classic rock early on. I put both of them to sleep as babies by singing them Stairway to Heaven.
Came out right after I turned 1 and my mom said I went nuts every time it was on the radio. Go figure, I would became a rock guitarist and still love the song.
You should check out their live song" Veteran of the Psychic Wars "for crazy vocals and an unreal guitar solo
one of the best damned guitarist ever. Many , many bands call BOC one of their inspirations.
Buck Dharma, lead Guitar. The MOST underrated guitarist in my opinion.
I saw blue oyster cult and fog hat, 1981 in St. Louis Mo.
every time BOC would sing the word godzilla, fire would shoot out of the dinosaurs nostrils.
I saw that tour in Hartford CT, they were as good as previous tours and Godzilla was a hoot!
Saw that tour in Minneapolis, it is was great!
Foghat live was a great record

Yea, I was surprised that it was cut short
Yeah the call and response from opposite speakers "God ... Zilla, God ... Zilla, God ... Zilla, ..." is iconic.

I Love the Night
Joan Crawford
Burnin' For You
Fire Of Unknown Origin
and
(Don't Fear) The Reaper
All fabulous classics. 10/10 from me. I'd add "Lips in the Hills".
Harvester of Eyes.
I Love the Night is fantastic. I'd add Veteran of the Psychic Wars and Astronomy to that list.
Red and the Black......Cities on Flame.....
As a singer yourself, you'd appreciate the pipes on Eric Bloom via the studio version of "Astronomy" from 1974.
Yes. The entire Secret treaties album is great. I also like Metallica's cover of Astronomy.
One of the great live bands of the 70s and 80s, this is a great song but they have so much more.
This is one of my favorite songs.
Can't believe I must be psychic.. after not hearing this song for years was listening to it yesterday, today my girl MaggieRenee enjoying it. Love you girl
Hi dear, I would like to see what you think of Heart, maybe Straight On, or Magic Man
There wasn't any autotune back then. Most bands at that time recorded live in the studio.
😊
Aaaaaagggghhhhh!!!!!!!
They cut the song short!
.
"History shows again and again,
How Nature points up the folly of men.
GODZILLA!"
Thanks! In the Kaiju movies Godzilla is sometimes a good guy, especially when it comes to his arch rival three headed King Ghidorah. 🤣Loved your reaction! 🦖
Thank YOU!!💖🦖😁🎶🐶💟
One of the best bands in concert ever
I had the joy of seeing them in concert in 1978. Totally awesome!🤘
Saw them twice on this tour, both times were insane, fantastic live band, absolutely fantastic.
They are amazing live.
Another BOC song you might want to check out is Then Came The Last Days Of May, performed at their concert called Long Days Night, which they played on the summer solstice June 21, 2002 at Chicago's Navy Pier. Highly, Highly recommend. 😀

I heard them live in a small club in Boston more than 30 years ago. My ears rang for three days afterward. Fantastic band.
I FELT them at an outdoor concert in 1987 in Kingston NH. I was standing against the chain link fence 10 fee from the stage / speaker stack and my pant legs were moving from the kick drum beats. Yes my ears rang for three days as well.

the original Godzilla film was released in 1954; we have a new one coming out in less than 2 weeks......longest lived movie character!!!!!............
When we saw them they had the giant screen showing Godzilla breaking through the power lines, it was AWESOME!
BOCs Cities on Flame with rock-n-roll is another banger!
I've seen them 7 or 8 times... Great show... One of the best bands ever..

I saw them live at the Civic arena in Pittsburgh in the 70's and yes there was a 30 foot tall godzilla blowing smoke on the stage
One of the best concerts I ever attended. These guys knew how to rock.
I saw this concert LIVE and Godzilla was awesome in concert!
It's not in a video game but they do use the song on the "Godzilla" pinball machine. You have a choice of using the original Godzilla theme from the Toho films or the Blue Oyster Cult song.
I’ve been a fan since 1972,they are unreal in concert!
Godzilla for President
Buck is so underrated as a guitarist

Probably the most heavyest boc song ever written. BOC forever

Great song and reaction
1 lol ya taking me back to my childhood. lol. now i have echos of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show and Little River Band playing in my head.
I like the video of this song using Godzilla movie footage 👍
Hey Maggie, that's Eric bloom on lead vocals and rhythm guitar and buck dhrama Roser on lead guitar
Seen BOC multiple times in concert and they always exceed expectations.
Was a cool concert.
A bit shorter than the studio version, not all the godzills back and forth after the announcement

I suggest you definitely listen to the recorded version as well.
One of my favorite BOC tunes when it came out!
I always played this song when I got to the part in Gears of War 2 where you control the Brumak!
this was in a video game. it was called Crackdown 2. it was a remix but still pretty interesting
Buck Dharma's solo album "Flat Out" (1982) is funny (in a twisted way) and a sonic feast. Such a good lyricist, vocalist and guitarist.
Band is still touring.
You should check out them performing "Veteran of the Psychic Wars"live
I saw BOC that year. The godzilla head was awesome.
BOC has always done well in Japan, and are credited as inspirations to many of todays bands, including A7X and Ghost. My favourite, and most seen live show! Peace from Nebraska.😊
My fave BOC song has always been Buck's Boogie - saw them live and it was great.
great song got to see them in concert
"Gojira", in Japanese. Toho still owns the rights to the character.
I saw BOC, Heart, Rossington Collins Band and others in Orlando at a Football Stadium. BOC did this Song with the Big Godzilla (Inflatable I Believe). I'm glad that I grew up with this music back then. I'm OLDDDDDDDD 😂.
I saw triumph box, aldo nova and journey at the rose bowl in I think 1982 the head of Godzilla came up when BOC was playing
I miss the old days when music could be for fun and live shows were affordable.
This version is incomplete, it is missing the ending. My favorite version of "Godzilla" is from the 1981 Hollywood Florida concert. ( Rick Downey drum solo.)
Red Barchetta by Rush live Exit Stage Left. Best Rock trio ever. Drummer GOAT recommend Neil Peart Drum Solo live in Frankfurt
Watch the version done during the Covid shutdown. They all (the modern band) performed over the internet.
I recently heard that BOC and Black Sabbath were touring together and that BS were “standoffish” and were “pissed that the Godzilla figure would take an hour to be taken down” b3fore they would take the stage.
The lead singer is Howard Sterns cousin.
They're from Oyster Bay , Long Island NY
rode a boy with a six-pack in his hand......
I seen them in a parking lot, Pontiac Silver dome 1983 nobody was watching but me and 5 other people
ha ha ...no auto tune here!
Who knew Howard Stern was in BOC?
BOC are from NYC
Godzilla even fought Mechagodzilla. I forget who won.
The concession stand
There are so many great songs in BOC's library, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Check out their 1988 album "Imaginos". It's an album length sci-fi rock opera.

you can actually see this on a video game... its called guitar hero ( the first one) hahaha
Had to be the worst version in of Godzilla available. Captions were incorrect. Half the live performance wasn't even there
Flirtin' with disaster or Dreams I'll never see by Molly Hatchet.
Xanadu or 2112 by Rush.
Freebird (77 Oakland version ).
There was NO autotune back then, People had to have actual talent.
Cities on Flame!
The Capitol Center in DC! Saw many great shows there.
Two things… I never knew he actually did the Japanese part! And, why was the song cut short? Basically in half?
BOC is GREAT guitar rock,,,,,💥💥💥👍😎
Great song, but I'm a bit disappointed that this version leaves off the last verse - which is where the main point is made:
"History shows again and again
"How nature points out the folly of men
"Godzilla
BOC "Red and Black" and "E.T.I."
Always listen to BOC live.
You listened to 2 boc songs that aren't in their top 25 songs. 😢
Listen to Blue Oyster Cult Lips In The Hills.
They cut off the ending, the ostinatto, "History shows again and again how nature points up the folly of man." Sadness!
I am and love this song
other songs by them that you should check out, Hush, Burnin for You, and (Don't Fear) The Reaper.
...cause I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cow bell!
The studio version is longer
