Fir Valentines Day please do Versailles Serenade, you'll love the singer's voice,, it is a sad love ballad, and was dedicated to their bassist who died during the recording of this album. Their guitarist Hizaki played the bass for this song. In the video Hizaki is the guy wearing the red dress. Yes he is a man and that is just h8s costume.
It feels bizarre you never hearing about BOC, and myself, I've been getting into them since 1974. I've seen them 9 times in concert, I have a Blue Oyster Cult cross tattoo on my arm, Buck Dharma is my favorite guitar player. On and on and on. BOC forever!!
BOC was truly one of the best great live bands back when the bar was so high I don't think we will ever see a time like that again. Their first three albums might be the strongest 3 albums spree of any rock band and that was before they even got to the more mainstream better promoted stuff. Mightiest of the mighty, my most favorite band of the countless shows I have seen for over 50 years.
The echo of the guitar isn’t an echo. Since they have two guitarists they layer them in the songs. This gives the impression of an echo but it’s just that each one is playing a different note and some of the notes are the same and some or slightly different.
Saw them live. Godzilla, Veteran of the Psychic Wars. Don't Fear The Reaper. When they did Godzilla as their last song they had a 20 foot high Godzilla. Veteran of the Psychic Wars was in the film Heavy Metal.
I saw these guys about 30 times thru the years. They freakin' rock live. First time was in 1980, the last time I saw them was 2003. They'd come thru town once, maybe twice a year. I'd always go because they effing ROCKED.
If you wanna explore BÖC for Valentine’s Day, you might wanna check out “I Love the Night” or “In Thee” along “Your Loving Heart” by Buck Dharma, the guitar Master and lead singer in this song [all five original members of the band were songwriters and sang and were famous for harmonies and each sang lead on at least one song. In fact, you would probably enjoy their cover of the Motown legends, The Ronettes’ “Be My Baby”.
Excellent video! Thank you! And thank you Mike. You were awesome setting this up. Unlike me dealing with new software or devices. I build computers as a hobby, but I easily get flummoxed with some software. In my defense I am old (I knew Nosferatu. Nosferatu was a friend of mine).
This album was intended to be the soundtrack for the movie Heavy Metal, but the producers decided to only use the one song "Veteran of The Psychic Wars." The song "The Pact" fits the video of the segment with female warrior avenging the city that was destroyed. Keep on keepin' on young lady.
saw them in concert at one of the Texas Jam concerts in 78 or 79 in Dallas . Their biggest hit was don't fear the reaper, check it out. btw I'm 66 years old
I found you a few years ago, and just am in love. 😄. Many of the songs you are now doing, I grew up with, and always suprises me when someone it music, has not been exposed to. But, you are awesome.
You need to hear "Fire of unknown origin". It's a great song, but one I would love to hear someone with an operatic background sing. There is an anguished line belted in the chorus, which I don't think the band ever really got just right. It was still amazing, but it takes someone with some serious vocal chops to attack that line with the power it needs, and not lose the emotion it's meant to convey. An opera singer could do it. Ideally, I'd like to hear someone like Corey Taylor, Eddie Vedder or Floor Jansen cover it. I think Peter Steel could have done it perfectly, but sadly we'll never know... But an opera singer, that could be very interesting.
I've been a big fan of BOC since the early 70's. I've seen them in concert about 28 times and they put on a great live show. You are only going to find 3 commercial hits from them. The rest of their music catalogue is filled with hidden gem after gem after gem. Try the hauntingly beautiful "I Love The Night".
I saw them in 1981 on this tour. Outstanding show, they were great live. Some recommendations, Joan Crawford, Take Me Away, Veteran Of The Psychic War.
Its always a great pleasure to see you being your usual happy self with your heavenly beautiful smile and personality you really are a real breath of fresh air well and truly and i always love your take on these great songs you listen to with great enthusiasm and id dearly love to know how i can actually get on the twitch as i always have problems trying to get on twitter to carry on listening to the rest of what you have to say you are totally awesome ❤
love this band....."dont fear the reaper" is a MUST!!! love your reaction. you should check out super tramp "long way home" another awesome song and band thats has a rabbit hole of songs
Apologies, but as a 50 year fan of BOC, was always totally ambivalent about this song. Never knew why it was a hit for them. Their library has got so many more/superior pieces.
@martingrey2231 Astronomy is a way better song. Plus pretty much anything else in their discography rather than this song listen to anything off of Club Ninja, Imaginos, or Revolution By Night.
Hi Maggie :) If you want a really creepy but cool song by this band, try "Joan Crawford". I was sick last week... Tried a new coffee place and the coffee I selected messed my stomach up for 2 1/2 days.
It’s funny some people think this band is of the occult, if you read their lyrics it’s more science fiction or as I like to say science faction, A cult is not Necessarily of the occults

Lizzy Borden song "Visual Lies" or for something heavier "Me Against the World",
❤❤❤❤
I got to open up for them twice in Alaska
I probably saw you at both shows!!
The first time was at the Greyhound in Fairbanks and the second time was in Suldatna and Kenai area in 2 different bands.
The irony of making fun of the director for not knowing the "music joke" while simultaneously not knowing it came from SNL is hilarious

There was a segment on SNL about this band & cowbell (it had Christopher Walken in it). You should be able to find it on UA-cam 🙂
The line that has been in our rock lexicon is, Christopher Walken saying he has an illness that only "more Cowbell" will fix.
Fire Of Unknown Origin (1981)
Saw them live. Godzilla, Veteran of the Psychic Wars. Don't Fear The Reaper. When they did Godzilla as their last song they had a 20 foot high Godzilla. Veteran of the Psychic Wars was in the film Heavy Metal.
"Godzill"a is an awesome song, as is "Going through the motions."
I would add ETI to that list, plus the live version of "And Then Came the Last Days of May"
One of my favorites. If i comes on the radio, i have to sit in my car until it finishes. So good.
Joan Crawford
Godzilla
Fire Of Unknown Origin
I Love The Night
(Don't Fear) The Reaper
and
Godzilla

I saw them back in '83 and '98. They sound great live. 😎😎😎😎😎
I saw BOC live in 82 (I think that's the year). Very good show. Godzilla was fun as hell.
Last Days of May
If you wanna explore BÖC for Valentine’s Day, you might wanna check out “I Love the Night” or “In Thee” along “Your Loving Heart” by Buck Dharma, the guitar Master and lead singer in this song [all five original members of the band were songwriters and sang and were famous for harmonies and each sang lead on at least one song. Two thumbs up for In Thee.
Excellent video! Thank you! And thank you Mike.

This is a better song than Don't Fear The Reaper in my book.
This album was intended to be the soundtrack for the movie Heavy Metal, but the producers decided to only use the one song "Veteran of The Psychic Wars." The song "The Pact" fits the video of the segment with female warrior avenging the city that was destroyed.
Keep on keepin' on young lady.
The working title of that track was 'Taarna's Song', the female warrior you referenced is named Taarna.
@@bobprivate8575 Thank you, it's been some time since I've seen the movie and the brain was not able to get that deep into the storage at that time.
"cowbell" was from a Saturday Night Live skit
saw them in concert at one of the Texas Jam concerts in 78 or 79 in Dallas . Their biggest hit was don't fear the reaper, check it out. btw I'm 66 years old
Good luck on your tour!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The song on the SNL skit was BOC, Don't Fear The Reaper.
I found you a few years ago, and just am in love. 😄. Many of the songs you are now doing, I grew up with, and always suprises me when someone it music, has not been exposed to. But, you are awesome.
One of my fave 80s songs. Altho does sound more like a 70s song. Either way all time classic! ♥
time to play B-sides 🎶💿
Im burning for music

Some religious groups typically took offense to the lyric, "I'm living for giving the devil his due"
Cowbell cones from a skit on Saturday Night Live its about Blue Oyster Cult, you got to look it uo. If yoy type more cowbell you'll find it.
2 Saw them in 81, great concert
three concerts - and I am from Europe
I am 65 anthey have bin my favorite band for 50 years
Just like Zeppelin, there's lots of occult symbolism involved in the cover art. Great reaction. Thanks. Peace. 😎🇺🇸

My college boyfriend used to open the listening and playing rooms in the music building. He'd play a good bit of BOC. He was good.
The guitar in this is soooo good
I saw them in 1981 on this tour. Outstanding show, they were great live.
Some recommendations, Joan Crawford, Take Me Away, Veteran Of The Psychic War.

Please review their song I Love The Night, very dramatic beautiful song
You mentioned cow bell in this video and in Don't Fear The Reaper. Check out Christopher Walken's SNL skit, a BOC parody.
1
I have seen them live so many times
Apologies, but as a 50 year fan of BOC, was always totally ambivalent about this song. Never knew why it was a hit for them. Their library has got so many more/superior pieces.
It's that riff @27:53 and the baseline. It's not rocket science 🤔
What Martin said! That's why. Plus it's good.
@martingrey2231 Astronomy is a way better song. Plus pretty much anything else in their discography rather than this song listen to anything off of Club Ninja, Imaginos, or Revolution By Night.
@@eyesofascension8678have to agree with imaginos and revolution by night, amazing albums, but I do also love this album.
Short for radio, accessable to non fans, and: Roesser sings, which is THE hallmark of all favorite songs of theirs.
Love Blue Oyster Cult! If you haven’t, should do some Oasis, either the music video for Wonderwall or Don’t Look Back in Anger (live in Argentina)
I grew up with them you will love them so Kool
23:20 - Starts

I think the people are here for the reaction but you're killing the point lady

Hi Maggie :)
If you want a really creepy but cool song by this band, try "Joan Crawford".
I was sick last week... Tried a new coffee place and the coffee I selected messed my stomach up for 2 1/2 days.
There is music video you know.
Time to play b-sides.
I’m applying for a position as roadie or groupie.😂😂👍🏻
I could be in a blue mussel cult, but I'm not so sure about a blue oyster cult...
you picked out the blue oyster part the peopleare the cult.
Try listening to them high. Another group like this Enigma
Home to play B sides
Try "Black Blade"...
love your air guitar you would be air drumming to Rush
Boc the Golden age of leather
👍
Godzilla!
It’s funny some people think this band is of the occult, if you read their lyrics it’s more science fiction or as I like to say science faction, A cult is not Necessarily of the occults
