You are right, Andrew. People need to be less sensitive. As a 60 year old Irish man, I've been called a paddy all my life. I worked in the middle East for years, and the British, the Scots, Welsh, yanks, Australians, even the Indians and Filipinos called me a paddy. People need to get over themselves
And 'Paki' used to be a term that Pakistani people used about themselves and in the 70s in England, a 'Paki' would be working with a Jamaican and some 'English' and they'd all joke about eachother but not in an aggressive mean or spiteful way - apparently that used to be called 'banter' but now it is called 'Fascism' - then as the term 'Paki' was used be the far right skinheads, the media decided it was a 'bad term' as they saw it as graffiti etc and not from it's origin amongst the Pakistani community and other normal people 'on the streets' - that is how shameful it is that words are allowed to be hijacked sometimes.

BLM has turned out to be a fraudulent joke. The founding members have abused the better part of $90 million in charitable donations, they operate on false narratives with very dangerous intentions, and they have done little to none for the benefit of the any community. In fact one can definitely form a strong arguement that BLM has caused damage to many communities across America. The Police will no longer patrol some areas of Minneapolis. Crime is way up.The Police have been successfully defunded. That is not a good thing ... Winston was railroaded out of his band by the same Populist radical ideology that bleeds from BLM. I’m a young 52 years old, I have a 10 year old boy who is funny, full of energy and never stops talking, I know that I influence him and my humour is from another time, so I fear he may step out of todays accepted guidelines. It’s extremely hard to navigate this but he is very smart and knows who he can say things to and who he cannot. I worry that moving forwards that no topic is safe, no joke is a joke, no comment can be taken as an opinion and no more. It feels like the situation is an ouroboros, when will it end and how will it end. Just a note, I’m not that well read or educated, I’m pretty average, I’m not pretending to be some super aware person.
Gosh what a struggle. I hear it in your voices . What to express, what not to? How honest or authentic can I be or should I just evade and hide? I admire you both for your genuine desire to be honest despite a very realistic fear that speaking out endangers you. How exposed we have become and how externalised. I think we have to live our life from the inside out and the more aware of the inner unfolding of who I am the more consciously I can interact with the outside world if I choose to, which in truth is less and less. Trying to live from the outside-in means we lose a sense of who we truly are . There is so much noise, tumult, and chaos going on it is essential that we find stillness and grounding from within. Sitting in a space where we can hear ourselves is essential. That still small voice of calm doesn't come from out there.
Never a big Mumford fan so I didn't know Winston by name before his exit from the band. Have followed him since. He is an amazing, beautiful human. Andrew, you're very good at interviewing. This was an absolute joy to watch. Riveting to listen to from start to finish. ❤
Yup, same, never a fan of the band, not my style of music is all, but after hearing this interview, Im now a fan of these two. Common sense conversation and debates is all I ask for in this world. But it seems even something as simple as that is too much to ask these days.
Woke is the word used by people who aren't funny anymore, only used by middle-aged people who are upset that they can't get the same reactions to the same jokes they've been using since they were a teenager.
You mean the made up insanity? People saying/doing something that causes reaction against them has been happening forever. The insanity is that people who happen to agree with that person just can't accept that their view may not be in the majority view. "Agree with me because reasons!" is their only way of viewing the world.
It's just a push and pull don't worry no one has really woken up. These are just people discussing the consequences they faced. Not discussing change. Be the change. We can't outsource the change we want to see. We are the insanity happening today
During the BLM ‘thing’ I watch associated websites - generally militant, black hyper left wing. The readiness to call for violence and vile slurs against Jewish people was breath taking in its vitriol and volume. Nothing appeared to be done by YT moderators. I found it staggering. I still don’t know why I had a channel blocked on YT (still!) - I challenged Gender/Trans militants on the issue of women’s safety and was jumped on. Incredible and inequitable double standards
I find it strange there's so much hatred towards Zionist jews for no reason at all.. Its not like they're behind lots of problems that white men get the blame for due to these white men not walking around with a their kippah on. The bible warns to be aware of the fake ones.
Linked to your point about proclamations of violence and double standards - I've seen a clip from a video of UA-cam Channels of a young black women calling for the death of the Royal Family, and being quite specific about how they should die, why they 'deserve' to die. But, at that time at least, no sanctions had been placed on that channel, let alone paused. I'm trying to remember which channel I saw it on. Could have been Sue Smith? POV?

I learned some new things from this interview, so thank you. One thing I cannot let go of though, is that after I have been a lifelong supporter of Israel - I now have such a heart ache for the Palestinians in Gaza, I am shocked that Mr. Marshall (a self professed reader and seeker) is dismissive of the situation in Gaza. The State of Israel has exhibited a gross disregard for lives that are not of the Zionist clan... calling "the others" "animals" as a justification for their (the IDF's) behavior, with thousands of children dead, mutilated or orphaned. Don't get me wrong: Hamas is awful. Now, "Zionists" have proven they can be even worse than Hamas. So many people are afraid to acknowledge this.

Andrew....you are knocking the ball outta the park with this channel. Not only mega important topics discussed openly but you yourself really show your true value as a journalist. Keep going ....this is important work 😊
Loved the chat thanks One thing to say on Jews. I grew up totally uneducated on what a Jew person was. All I ever heard was funny jokes in the 70s about how tight they are with money and the Germans killed them all for what reason I didn’t know or think about I just knew they were disliked and treated horribly. Growing up in the North East I probably may have not encountered many Jews. But if I did I could have only judged them on character and how they addressed myself. As I was ignorantly naive back in the day. I wish we were all ignorantly naive of each other from a religious perspective then we would only have character to judge others by.
Its still so unfathomable to me that a rock and roll band could be so insipid, weak and spineless. I have seen them a couple of times in concert and Winston was an integral part of the band. I had no clue he departed the band and under such circumstances. A huge loss for Mumford & Sons
The activists always claim that those who have opinions differing from theirs 'brought cancellation upon themselves'. Thinking has to be extremely distorted and narcissistic to assert that those you abuse are to blame for what you do to them.
He quit the band himself... He showed support for stuff the band didn't like, he quit. No one is entitled to have accomodations made to keep them in Mumford and sons. If their views clash, they clash. He can start his anti-antifa (double negative..?) band and everyone's happy.
Most people "quit" their job rather than get officially thrown out, so let's put that one to rest. Following your logic you would support, for example, an employer with strong religious beliefs sacking somebody because they liked a tweet supporting LGBTQ rights by saying well, they can go off and start their own business. I mean they have just brought it upon themselves, right? You should only work for someone if you share the same beliefs, blah, blah, blah. What nonsense.@@rgghjs9270
I can't quite see how he's been cancelled. His Question Time appearance and a regular podcast hosted by the Spectator would suggest otherwise. Do some of his former fans and colleagues think he's a dick? Yes, but thats another matter entirely.
How can we know what we truly believe in unless we are sometimes able to read or be privy to what we don't.. We cannot live in echo chambers.. So much of life and conversation is nuanced and yet we are made to believe everything is extreme.. Winston Aubrey Aladar deBalkan Marshall was born in Wandsworth, London, on 20 December 1987,[1][a] to Sir Paul Marshall, a British tycoon and co-founder of the Marshall Wace hedge fund, and Sabina de Balkany,[4] from a genteel European Jewish family. Silver spoon had everything since birth and you call this brave...please
His bandmates stood up for what they believe in too by the sound of it. Why would anyone want to spend time on the road with someone they didn't like? He acts like the first person to get sacked from a band lol
Only if they believe what you believe right👍😂

@@utredutredson1686 Exactly. It's like Lawrence Fox all over again. Privileged men who can't fathom why other people matter. And of course he hates Marxism, which entitled little rich boy doesn't? If he were black from a deprived childhood, he might have some credibility. As it is, he's sulking because the music industry disagrees with him. Well, it's an industry and that's how capitalism works, so his hedge fund embossed butt will have to suck it up.
I watch a lot of your stuff Andrew, you ask common sense questions, interview mostly interesting people, but, mostly, you just exude such an overall niceness, goodness, gentle humour and those things are priceless!
He’s a poppet, isn’t he? He has a lovely gentleness that I find incredibly appealing.
Wow! A musician / artist with INTEGRITY?! THANK YOU sir, this world needs more of you.
For sure. If only the industry wasn't ran by those horrible people who some I know are straight up Satanist. While others are another popular religion but, aren't actually living it or aren't orthodox in it. Unless they are using the religion as a cover for their true intentions and religion. They may know exactly what they're doing and just want to pretend they're this specific religion. I can't name the one I'm talking about because my comment will probably be deleted 😅
I was boycotted by my local music scene for not having GROUPTHINK.
I'm going to plan a local show using a different name and see if they try to boycott me then.
Having integrity is the barrier to a career in this industry.

My grandparents always refer to my great uncle as paddy and I just thought it was his name 😳
"paddy", please explain.
There is no reason to call someone from Ireland this. Just because you claim it is ok does not mean it is.

I just have to make it known how shallow his band mates really are to let this minimal shit tear them apart. It's really unfortunate how possessed some people have become. I love how reading is the antidote to Marxism. We got to get these kids off of social media programming.
It’s not just social media it’s also being pushed throughout the education system and mainstream media!
Right, Marxists don't write books. Idiot.
I am alarmed why this generation would even flirt with Marxism, it produced some of the most murderous anti-human regimes of the 20th century.
Reading broadly is THE antidote to the blinders of any ideology…
… & being open to experiences… rather than filtering them through a coveted ideology…
@@ericjohnson9468 Being literate offers you the possibility of escaping ideological blinders, but it is no guarantee. You have to actually fucking think about what you're reading. And you also have to have a decent enough background of contextual knowledge.

@@zivkovicable right? "I've been cancelled" seems most often to actually mean "I'm a prick and everyone figured it out"
I became aware of Winston through his interview with Peterson. Very thoughtful and well spoken fellow.
Very genuine and thoughtful conversation. Thanks for this ...
I've been following Winston since they tried to cancel him. Congratulations to him for all his success. He has so much to offer this world.
How can we know what we truly believe in unless we are sometimes able to read or be privy to what we don't.. We cannot live in echo chambers..
So much of life and conversation is nuanced and yet we are made to believe everything is extreme.. Its so sad that conversation is becoming so uncomfortable and bonds and friendship lost upon differences of what intrigues us..
That was a truly great comment. 🤍
@@toribern816Thank you so much (((🤍))) means the world 🥰
Great interview!!!
Brilliant interview. I will be looking out for Winston from here on in. Thanks guys.
Your not canceled to many if not majority of the people. It seems like there is a lot because the media is everywhere. But you’re not canceled. Stay strong.
Love you Winston Marshall ❤ please release a solo album. You have people who support you and would adore music from you.
...REALLY interesting and engaging interview Andrew. I am loving your new channel stuff. It's really good! I love your old channel as much ☺
Respect to staying true to your beliefs
Great interview, Andrew! Winston needs his own UA-cam Channel. It took me a while to realise that all his content is hosted via the Spectator.
When there’s one that speak the truth, a leader is born and the world will know, and be saved.
Truth will set us free !
Refreshing to listen to two intelligent gentlemen. All too rare.
I laughed at the use of "pdf files" as a way to talk about the evil actors without infringing on the YT protocols. Very clever!
It's very sly...I love it😂
I hadn’t heard of him but am now a fan. He’s great
i really appreciate you doing these interviews, Andrew
I have never listened to a Mumford and sons song that i know of (don't come for me). This interview was really good. This young man (Winston) is a very intelligent and articulate speaker. You both speak really clearly on very debatable subjects.
Very worth my attention and time. Lovely guy, Winston. Heard him before on his own channel. Here is an example of someone who could NEVER be boring. Thanks. guys, for being on right side of history 🙌👏🏼🙏💪✡️🇮🇱☮️😬🇬🇧
