- Jane & Van Pelt, on the hunt for an art forger, end up in a small town. He claims to be the professor that seduced her, much to her annoyance.

Jane knows that VanPelt is bored with always being in the office and likes to give Grace the opportunity to go to the field with him and amuses himself with Lisbon's jealousy
Jealous? Really? Look at her face at 0:45. She knows Jane wants to take Grace out to mess with her, and she thinks it's slightly funny. The girl practically begs for field experience, and Lisbon is letting her get the Jane kind. Gotta know if the girl will last on the team.
Seriously, everyone in this fandom thinks Jane and Lisbon are raging codependant hornballs at all times
Van Pelt's look of "oh, crap. I'm going to regret this" when she realized she is going with Jane is priceless.
Not to mention Lisbon's brief look of jealous until she realized Jane was going to mess with someone else.

Van Pelt was right to feel apprehensive about going into the field with Jane. That impish look from Jane as they left the office 😅. I expect Lisbon was also relieved to have a day off from Jane's tomfoolery 😅

who knows exactly, I only saw one street and it had side walks and multiple stores. My hometown is less then a mile long and has one gas station a post office and a flower shop and they are all spread out down the one main road

My favorite episode. Wish there had been more “embarrassing” Jane/Van Pelt scenes.
This was my first scene of Mentalist. I thought Jane and Van Pelt were going to be together and gave up shortly after. Wasn't watching TV anyway. Only came across mention of this show during pandemic. Sigh.

Apparently I was wrong. In the episode with Kristina Frey she was going to interview Frye again and Lisbon approved Jane going with her without a second thought, saying someone needed to be able to tell if Frye was lying. I think it was 1x7. So in just a few episodes she got possessive.
