RIP Chester - his voice was like no others.
Yep!! & July 20th will be the 4yr anniversary of his death
Rip
He truly was an okay singer.
@@kheldaur2107 ~SAY WHAAAT?!?!? AN OKAY SINGER?!?!? HE HAD ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL VOCALS!!

So I'm 63 years old and I love Linkin Park's music. Sorry that Chester left this world.
Me too, I wore black scrubs the day I heard...
Me too sorry for Chester and Chris!!!
Me too. ❤
Same! ❤ 😢❤
62 here. Some great tunes. Chester is missed. 😩💔
I was lucky enough to see Linkin Park twice and they just blew me away. The power, the emotion, the musicianship, all first-class
RIP Chester. Please everyone know that no matter how bad it is there is always someone willing to listen.
not unless they getting paid..
No
In the end, the story is not yours. In the end, they take the narrative. In the end, it doesn't even matter
Chester's suicide gutted me. The loss of such a talented, beautiful man.
Same. It's great that the band has continued on but it isn't Linkin Park without Chester and his piece of Linkin Park is lost forever. I found it really hard when the radio stations were playing their songs featuring him for a long time because the lyrics he belted out and their meaning reflected not only what he had gone through back then but that it stayed with him until the very end. I love Linkin Park but I can't listen to any of their new albums without him. I was gonna say that a reaction video to One More Light which is beautiful would be touching but I don't think I or others could watch it here without totally breaking down.
I felt the same. Watching so many interviews of him sharing his depression, made it so clear that he did not want to be in this world anymore. It’s devastating to see someone suffer inside and there’s nothing you can do about it. He was an amazing talent.
Me too
The world is a bit darker without Chester
My husband and me cried when we heard the news. We listened to Linkin Park the most during long road trips, singing to all of them. Plus they were part of our childhood.
You will never fit Linkin Park into a single genre. They were pioneers of mixing rock, rap, and hip-hop and some of their videos are deep. Go down the rabbit hole they are amazing. Knowing how Chester ended up taking his own life, you cannot listen to the live version of "one more light" without shedding a tear. If you do that one be prepared. It's an emotional gut punch
Live version of 'one more light' is simply beautiful.... u can feel the pain. Such a loss
I agree with you go down the rabbit hole with LINKIN PARK
rap rock is a genre
well said Mark!!
@@Zalazaar Except this is Nu Metal.
Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn wrote this song. Nu metal, Rap-Rock and Alternative Rock. This band had at the time many layers. Rest In Power Chester.
Kinda insane how Mike Shinoda’s cadence is so melodic that people question whether or not it’s rap. Wildly underrated artist imo.
"Given Up" is the song you want, only to hear Chester hold a multi-note scream for 17 seconds.
One of my favorites; that and papercut
Given Up is one of my favorite songs by LP. Instrumentally, vocally, overall. I still headbang to that song.
Facts but don't forget valentines day and in pieces under appreciated songs. imo
Yessssssssssss LOVE CHESTER 💙
ALL their songs are amazing!!
Chester Bennington’s voice is incredible and his suicide took away an incredible talent. His lyrics came from a deep place of pain stemming from sexual and physical abuse he endured as a child. Chester was a very generous and loyal to his fans. He’s from Arizona, as am I, and by pure luck, I met him as we were sitting next to each other at the Mesa, AZ Department of Motor Vehicles. I leaned over and quietly whispered, “You’re Chester Bennington from Linkin Park.” He smiled and nodded yes. I asked if I could take a picture with him and pointed for us to go around the corner to keep his identity secure. He graciously took the picture with me and before I could thank him, he thanked me. He sat back down and I walked over to my brother to give Chester his privacy. My brother asked who he was and I told him Chester Bennington. My stupid brother, in his normally loud obnoxious voice belts out, “Who’s Lester? IDIOT!!!
😳😳🤦♀️🤦♀️... 😆😆🤣😂😂😂😂 .. LESTER.. OMG.. HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Chester did write some of it, but Mike Shinoda was the primary song writer
Really cool story, and very well written
I lived in Gilbert AZ, we used to see him at Williams Field football games serving up popcorn, little league baseball games with his son, and Boccie at the mall. He was generous with his time with fans. Miss and love you Chester.
RIP Chester you are incredibly missed by billions!!! :(
Great band and Chester will be sorely missed. RIP.. 15 years ago, I took my 13 year old son to see them live in London. Absolutely awesome and he rocked and headbanged all night. Great memories made. Linkin Park we’re very much part of the Nu Metal scene.
RIP Chester. If you pay close attention to most of his songs, they often dealt with problems associated with depression. Chester, who suffered from depression, committed suicide in 2017. It's been said by his fans that his songs were his "cries for help." Another song you should definitely check out by Linkin Park is "Crawling."
I also vote Crawling. My favorite song of theirs
Definitely, when he took his life to me his entire library of music took on added meaning. Before I used to just blast it without a second thought at the lyrics.
They should also check out "Numb" if they wanna go down this epic rabbit hole.
everyone suddenly believes they can hear the victim crying for help... thats just how our mind thinks.. You can think of the happinest song on earth.. but if that person killed them selves.. you would say "He is totally crying for help in his songs" U can literally say BOB ross was crying for help in his paintings.. We don't know shit... It's just that simple. He was probably murdered anyways.
If Mr. Rogers killed him self... I bet you hundreds of thousands of people would be typing stuff like " You can totally see the desperation in his eyes when he's filming his show" and shit like that. WE DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT ANYTHING PEOPLE. JUST ACCEPT IT AND MOVE ON.
@@pauljahova2888 i agree
In the 90's they just called this genre Rap-Rock. Linkin Park, Limp Biscuit, Korn and Rage Against the Machine were the biggest bands in the genre.
Numetal
@@lasciethiesing2219 in the beginning It was Rap/Rock. The term Numetal didn't come till way later.
@@MrGrifter123 it came around in the about 2002 it’s not as recent as you think
@@mookiestewart3776 I been listening to this music since the 80s and 90s. I pretty much remember when they started saying it. 🤷🏾♂️
*Limp Bizkit
This is on the "Hybrid Theory" album. The greatest cross genre album. Of. All. Time. Every. Single. Song. You should sit down and listen to it start to finish. R.I.P. Chester
The two voices blend so well to make this song mesmerizing
There was a Jay Z/Linkin Park collaboration called "Numb/Encore" back in 2004
My December us my favorite off that track
It was a whole album called Collision Course. Numb/Encore was one of the tracks
@@valeriequiett mine too. It's actually my favorite song of all by them
I saw Linkin park and Jay Z do this love in NJ. Was a crazy ass show. So glad I got to witness this
@@wilksflyfishing1406 Nice, that s a bucket lister !
Just a comment to show Amber some appreciation, she's a super sweet girl, with a beautiful heart and smile.
This song is in my top 5 favorites ever. I love that the lyrics either make you feel like you’re done and defeated or you are moving on and not looking back. That’s why it’s such an awesome song…every listener takes away their own interpretation.
Chester Bennington was a huge talent an his loss cannot be undersold. The way he and Mike Shinoda play off one another in this song and so many others is beyond magical.
Jay-Z is probably the one you are thinking of that they collaborated with.
Linkin Park is not a single genre. they took rock, metal, alternative, rap, hip-hop, electronic and others and fused it all together.
This is off the hybrid Theory album released in 2000.
Lead singer is the late Chester Bennington
Rap vocals is Mike Shinoda.
This is over 1 billion views, the 2nd of their songs to do so. The first was NUMB.
They were the first rock band to achieve that mark.
They have so many songs to check out- Numb, One Step Closer, Crawling, Points of Authority, Papercut, Castle of Glass, Breaking the Habit, Shadow of the Day. and more.
And a few that have been used in the Transformers movies, What I've Done,New Divide, and Iridescent.
RIP Chester.
you managed to leave out nu metal :D
That’s who I was thinking it was Jay-Z
yeah Collisin Course still one of the dopest albums
I find it hard to believe he didn't know this song. He knew they did a song with Jay Z. He didn't admit it but he knew. They should at least own up to knowing songs and the artists every time because it makes it look like they have something to hide. (We know they have admitted before but it looks like they don't all the time)
@@Rage_Harder_Then_Relax He said he thought they collabed with a rap artist and couldn't remember who it was. If he heard any of their stuff it would have been the Collision Course versions and not the originals.
I’ve heard this song 100’s of times over the past 20 years…
And still CHILLS!! Chester we miss you more than words…🙏🏻
This song by Linkin Park is the perfect hybrid of hard rock and rap.
LP was a brilliant mixture of artists. They brought together rap, hip hop and rock to blend legendary songs together. Talk about crossing music boundaries. Chester was a once in a lifetime singer and will be so missed!
How can you forget EDM 🤦🏼♂️
So you're aware, Chester Bennington is the singer with the short blonde hair who begins the song with his soft notes of "It starts with one" then Mike Shinoda kicks in with the rapping. Most people don't realize the strength of Chester's voice in that song, his voice control and how long he holds some notes in that song alone is nothing short of amazing. While the band was considered hard rock, they said they were hard rock infused with hip-hop. They were absolutely amazing. "One More Light" (listen to his performance on Jimmy Kimmel) is a fantastic song.
I loved Linkin Park from the first time I heard them. I recognized Chester Bennington as being the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, he was only with them for a couple of years but his voice is magical. My 19 year old daughter loves them too and we both shed some tears over his suicide (over Chris Cornell's too). He committed suicide by hanging on what would have been Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday. Chris committed suicide by hanging about 2 months before Chester. They were best friends and like brothers, they both had a deep history of depression and Chris' death hit Chester hard, if you search UA-cam you can find Chester singing a beautiful rendition of "Hallelujah" at Chris' funeral. Chris Cornell's daughter then sang "Hallelujah" for Chester. Chris Cornell was lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave.
2 extremely talented men lost to us forever. I hope they both rest in peace and a found the solace they've been searching.
....That's what you think but you can't even spell it?
@@Rayvn7 lol sorry, I know it's Linkin Park, and now I'm reading I see other errors. Such is life, I was using text to speech and didn't read over it like I should. Everyone makes mistakes. Thanks for letting me know so I can fix it. If you think anything different, please post it. On one of these Linkin Park posts we discussed multiple conspiracy theories too. Have a good day/night!
@@Rayvn7 I didn't add it because this was about Linkin Park but Chris Cornell brought together, along with the members of Mother Love Bone, a band called Temple of the Dog. It was only for one album as a memoriam to his friend Andrew Wood who passed from an OD and was the lead singer of Mother Love Bone. Temple of the Dog consisted of Mother Love Bone band members, Chris and Eddie Vedder. When Chris finished he went back to Soundgarden/Audioslave, the remaining members started and created Pearl Jam. I always thought that was a cool fact.
The notes are so haaard to maintain powerfully. Everytime I sing along, I have to be careful with my breath to TRY to last as long as him.
@@nekkets9601 breathe control is everything. Have you ever tried to sing along with "Given Up"? It's from Minutes To Midnight. Chester has a 17 spine chilling second scream/growl from hell and changed notes during it. It's amazing. He could sing like an angel and scream like the devil.
"One step closer" is another Lincoln Park song to check out. Nu Metal is this genre along with Korn , Limp Biskit etc....
This band changed my world during my formative years, I will always carry them in my heart!
Their music is very personal to Chester the main singer!!! There will never be another band as AMAZING as Linkin Park because of Chester's voice & lyrics!!!! We love & miss you Chester!!!
They did a whole callob EP with Jay Z called Collision Course
You won't find a bad song in LPs discography. They did a mash up with Jay-Z and it was outstanding. RIP Chester. LP for life!!!!
You have to listen to "Waiting for the end". Their first three albums were unbelievable but my favorite of theirs came later. But each album has something that I love. Rest in Paradise Chester.
this song was epic and chilling at the same time. rip chester.
This falls into the Nu Metal genre, A mix of alt metal with other genres.
Thank you I was about to say the same thing.. this falls into the Nu Metal genre
Nu metal. Defo
Came to the conclusion years ago that Linkin park is it’s own genre
Cool, Marine. I would have mentioned it but I figured I should check the comments first. :)
Am 60 and this is one of my all time favs! Thank you!
"Time is a valuable thing watch it fly by as the pendulum swings"
Rip : Chester 🕊️
Linkin Park. A name that is nothing more than an existential force of music in itself. One of the greatest groups to have ever existed in the history of the world. One of the biggest bands of all time. And most importantly to me, my favorite band, the first band I ever listened to, the first song I ever heard by anyone, my first CONCERT……everything. This is the song that actually awakened my true soul, and I have never felt that feeling with any other song besides In The End. When Chester died, it literally felt like a part of my soul ended up buried beneath the ground next to him. His death hurt literally just as bad as anyone losing a member of their family. Unfortunately he took his own life on July 20th, 2017…….He was my favorite singer, the person who actually inspired me to live my life even through all the pain, regret and suffering, and my true idol. I’m so glad you guys reacted to Linkin Park, because the billions of views they have are a pin drop in the Earth’s oceans compared to the lives they’ve touched since they hit the scene back in 2000 with Hybrid Theory. Keep the Linkin Park reactions coming, because this song is one of many that is apart of the greatness!
And to add on to this long comment. Some songs I recommend are Numb, Somewhere I Belong, Lying From You, One Step Closer, Crawling, What I’ve Done, Bleed It Out, and even you can dive deep into the later parts of their career with songs like The Catalyst, Waiting For The End, Burn It Down, One More Light, Powerless, Castle of Glass, the list goes on and on for days……Take any song and embrace the greatness it provides!!!!!
This song has become so chilling to listen to after Chester Bennington’s death…may he Rest In Peace
Right? Listening to his lyrics now, after his death, is poignant to say the least. Seeing interviews Chester gave over the years along with his lyrics truly point to his struggles in his own head. He ended his pain a week after his best friend, Chris Cornell committed suicide in Detroit after what is said to be his best live performance of his career.
Chester Bennington was a unique talent, and it's very sad how soon he left us at such a young age. But he left quite incredible legacy & influence. It's also comforting knowing Mike Shinoda (the rapper of the group) is still making music and keeping Chester's memory alive.
On a related note, since Rob is an admitted rap fan, I think he would surely appreciate Linkin Park & Jay Z's collaboration, especially on the remix of "Numb.Encore".
Yes that Numb/Encore mash up is one of my favorites!
I'm aware that Numb/Encore is probably one of the most listened to of the collaboration efforts of the 2 but imo Dirt off your shoulders/lying to you and Jigga What/Faint are my personal favorite songs from their collaboration album but the live versions are the best!
R.I.P. Chester Bennington
The songs by Linkin Park are created from the soul and centers around depression, pain and suffering. These songs saved many fans because of how relatable the lyrics are. Chester saved millions of people, and nobody could unfortunately save him. His suicide still haunts me and many other fans.
The genre was called Rip-Rop(Hip-Hop and Rock and Roll mixed) The name of the album was called Hybrid Theory which describes the genre. It was also their original name before switching to Linkin Park. Chester (lead singer) is no longer with us . Ge committed suicide a few years ago. Mike Shinoda who sang also, but mostly rapped is now solo. Mr Hahn was their DJ and would do incredible instrumental pieces on their albums.
My faves are “Leave Out All The Rest”, “Somewhere I Belong”, “Breaking the Habit”, “Crawling”, “A Place For My Head”
Bleed it out
Trauma, PSTD, and depression are hard things to live with, it’s a fight to stay here for some.
Thank you.
One of my favourite bands of all time , R.I.P Chester we miss you he was unique and 1 of a kind
This song is FIRE! In retrospect, the words seem to come from a dark place. When Chester left this world...I was heartbroken...they defied the genres and categories and just made great music...
RIP Chester Bennington
He was a great singer and is missed so much.
You could hear his depression in so many of his lyrics. Sadly, he took his own life 💔
i haven’t heard Linkin in a while and man i got emotional for a moment, rest in power
Not just depression but trauma!
He was suicided for his knowledge and speaking out against the child trafficking, murder, rape, canabilism and Adrenochrome collection.

Instant Classic ! 🙏🏽👑♥️ Chester.
Y'all should check out " Crawling", too.
It's a mix of Rock and Rap.
Another Rock and Rap song that has piano at the end is "Epic", by Faith No More. Check it out.
This song definitely isn't Punk.
Faith no more is indeed epic
RIP Chester. His voice was so so so unique. I have heard of a lot of famous people passing away. None and I mean none of their deaths got to me like his.
In The End is still one of my top favorite Linkin Park songs, it even still makes me cry.
R.I.P Chester you are still missed.
You two are real. And I appreciate you both. Big hugs
If you listen to the lyrics it's not hard to see what Chester Benningtons feelings were. His suicide was shocking to a lot of people but to me it wasn't...still absolutely broke my heart.
Mike Shinoda was the primary songwriter, although Chester did write some of it.
@@chriso6719 I'm aware. Do you think there would have been so much anguish in Chesters vocals if he didn't feel it though? The pain was real.
When Linkin Park came out with the Hybrid Theory album in 2000 it was an absolute game changer.
RIP Chester Bennington, such a beautiful soul x
Such a voice .... Se miss u Chester!
This song always give me the chills, no truer words have ever been spoken.

Hey man, just forget genres, it’s just great music!! This is my first time hearing Linkin Park and I loved it!! This from someone that listens to a lot of different kinds of music but Country is my go to. Like the song says, “in the end it doesn’t even matter!” ♥️♥️
This makes me cry sometimes cuz it’s something that happened in my life so hard to listen without shedding a tear cuz in the end it doesn’t really matter 😢
I'll never forget when the song came out, back in early 2000. I was in high school. I bought the Album. this song brings me way back
With Chester gone this song brings on a new meaning for me knowing his struggles and sadly IN THE END...
“One Step Closer” is their first and biggest hit, and it’s hardcore
That’s definitely not his biggest hit
Nice reaction you two. This song came out in 2000. Hard to believe this song is 21 years old. Chester Bennington (RIP) was a phenomenal singer, and combined with Mike Shinoda's rap style, Linkin Park had a unique sound at the time, they were a very good band. For a future Linkin Park song, I'm gonna suggest one that very few reactors react to if any. That song is Nobody's Listening, it's my favorite Linkin Park song, the lyrics are very deep, and the song is pretty awesome, I think you guys would enjoy it. There isn't an official video, just the album recording, but it's still worth a listen. Keep up the great reactions, and as always, stay Metal. 😊🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶
I love the blend of rock and mild rap.
Take this song and out it in any fight scene or a character theme it instantly becomes absolutely legendary
Some people believed Chester just couldn't live without his long time friend Chris Cornell who died on 5/18/2017.Chester died 7/20/2017.What ever the reason ,he is greatly missed.
the rapper you're thinking of is Jay-Z, he and Linkin Park did an EP together called Collision Course. the song they released as a single was Numb/Encore.
