- SIGMA Introduces 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports Lens, the World's First and Only 10x Ultra-Telephoto Zoom for Mirrorless Camera Systems. They loaned me a copy and I share my thoughts after shooting for a few weeks! Of course, I had to compare the NEW Sigma 60-600 for Sony against the Sony 200-600 f5.6-6.3

Video Review of All Sony Telephoto Lenses - • Sigma 150-600 DG DN FE...
Travel with me in 2023 or 2024 - photorec.tv/travel
SIGMA Corporation of America is pleased to announce the 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports lens. This is the world's first and only* mirrorless 10x ultra-telephoto zoom. The second full-frame mirrorless zoom lens in the SIGMA Sports line, covering standard (60mm) to ultra-telephoto (600mm), along with 1:2.4 maximum magnification (at 200mm), and weighing just 5.5 pounds (2.5kg), this lens offers exceptional versatility and is offered in Sony E-mount and L-Mount.
The SIGMA 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports is designed to be the one essential lens for travel, outdoor sports, wildlife, and safari that can cover it all from standard to ultra-tele, plus close-ups, all without ever swapping lenses; and it offers an impressive 6 stops of Optical Stabilization at the telephoto end and 7 stops at the standard end.
I love this review and your humor! I will wait a bit...but love the idea of just 2 lenses.
I just love that there's more options for Sony shooters when it comes to these super telephoto lenses.
I so, so agree!! Huge number of options now at so many different budgets. Now I want to see a few more super telephoto primes that don't break the bank and I am hopeful Sigma will come out with those soon.
The best lens review i ve seen
Thanks. Very kind of you to say.
Great review, and I do like the original #1 reason for tuning in! Owning the 200-600, not sure I would get this as well, but if I didn't have that Sony lens, this would be an attractive lens. But a real bummer on the short lens foot. Tony & Chelsea showed how it won't even balance on a gimbal head when zoomed out to 600mm
HA - thanks Mark. Yes I think for 200-600 users this is a pass but for someone looking to add additional range it is compelling. They did a good job overall.
Had this for about 4 months. It works really well with the a6700 too!
That range would have been great on the Katmai trip. Hope we might see it on the X-mount in the future.
Sigma has made some lenses for x mount so it is certainly possible.
Thanks for this review, as always Toby! This looks like a great option with the range, 60mm would be nice compared to Sony's 200-600! Definitely something to think about if I didn't already have the Sony.
Always humour first Toby. Reviews on lenses like this outstanding Sigma Moon crater capturing monster second.
Thanks for appreciating the humor :)
Forwarding this to my wildlife friend
Much appreciated Theresa!
need new video about new firmware... best choice or 200-600 fastest?
Thanks for the insights, really informative. My dilemma in considering this is the weight, this cannot be a travel lense that does it all since it may be difficult to hang it all day and a serious attention grabber too. Own a 20 and a 35-150 hence whether to go for a 150-600 or 100-400 is my doubt, am a daily photographer not a wildlife or an enthusiastic bird photographer. The tamron 18-400 is also on my radar
No denying that the 18-400 is going to be the most travel friendly choice of the three but grabbing Sigma's 100-400 gives you only a little overlap and a very good lens for general travel photography. If you are not doing any real wildlife or birds I don't think you need more than 400 so skip the 150-600.
I’m curious how this lens would perform on a Canon R5 when compared to the Sony? Specifically autofocus being that you need to use an adapter on the Canon.
The older Canon/Nikon mount version of this lens has been out for awhile and as I was researching it seems people are pretty happy with the results using it with an adapter on Canon mirrorless. I haven't tried it myself so I can't say - I am always a little nervous about 3rd party lenses, especially ones where fast af is so important and on an adapter. Could always rent and see how it does for you.
I generally like the content of these videos, but the choice to use loud highly compressed "music" several times the intensity of the speaking is not only distracting, but actually annoying.
I am sorry. I didn't think the music was that much louder.
Please re-edit this! It’s really terrible…. I do appreciate the quality of your content after the heartbeat skipping inducing noise right at the start. I really had to amp my AVR down for the neighbors early in the morning at 8 AM on a Saturday morning. Not everybody is listening through tiny speakers.
Just bought the lens for my Sony a7 iv waiting for delivery 😊
How do you like it?
@@steves12strings very good just learning how to use it
What about the stabilization handheld?
Just got this lens im able to handheld 1/100th @600mm
very compelling option but the fact that Sony does't allow teleconverters on third party lenses in annoying....also the new tamron 50-400 for me is even slightly more compelling for the lower weight ... and price, but they are both new great additions....
If they can make a 60-600 with apertures this wide, how cool the 150-500 (tamron) and 150-600 (sigma) cant be wider than f5? And the tamron has to be f6.7.. at the almost same physical external size. Feels like they should have been able to be f4.5 too then. And no more than f6.3
Sooooo… technically 10x zoom has been around on Sony E-mount for a long time already. The not-super-but-not-terrible 24-240mm exists.
It would be cool if Sigma also produced something like a 20-50mm lens, that would be an amazing companion lens to this 60-600mm.
Yes but the way Sigma gets to say this is the first is using the term "Ultra-Telephoto" And you do Have Tamron with their 24-40 f/2.8 and rumors that Sony is bringing something similar to market soon. Those would be great pairings.
Good content. Just the audio between voice and intro is way off. Intro is either too loud or voice too low. Just my opinion though.
Yes - sorry that difference was a bit more than I realized.
I thought $1999 was a lot. But here in my country it's listed as $2650 (including tax)... Oh well...
Bummer. I am sorry to hear that!
PLEASE READ- SAVE SOME BUCKS!!!: Several commenters have stated the price of 105mm filters being prohibitive. Simple solution is buy (or may already own) a 95mm CPL, ND...whichever! Then purchase an inexpensive 105mm-95mm step-down ring, screw your 95mm filter onto it and screw that combo onto the front of your 60-600 OR 150-600mm Sport and there you have it! No vignetting whatsoever at any focal length/aperture setting. I even have the Sigma 105mm Protector filter on the front of this lens, then the 95mm combo and still NO VIGNETTING!
