What sets Arnold Schwarzenegger apart from his contemporaries, to make him so unique and interesting as an actor? Here's what I think. - Фільми й анімація
Arnie was so good he could successfully sell an android assasin from the future that speaks English in a thick Austrian accent.
In a way, it added to the 'other worldly' nature of the cyborg.
Didn't you know Austria overtook China as the predominant manufacturing country for the world in the future? ;)
Wasnt the reason why his T800 was speaking with Austrian accent/body, he was a #101 model?
If we say model (for exampel) the number #1 had the American "accent/body", #101 got the Austrian accent/body.
Ye, i got my question answered; James Cameron states that "...the model 101s all look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, with a 102 looking like someone else..."
Good one
lmfaooo
good 1 he made it work
Some guy when Arnold went into politics:
"This man is not a politician, he is an actor!"
Arnold:
"Thank you for calling me an actor"
I don't think he thinks he's a good actor or a politician.. Like this video says he's not afraid of trying. Tho he sometimes fail he keeps moving forward. I think he give people hope and courage. We love Arnold for being Arnold. The symbol of the American Dream.
@@arcy_arts7378 The American Dream Thing is Bullshit otherwise he would represent a homeless drug addicct that hasn't even an health insurance. The rest is true tho
@@meavyhetalderzweitegrafvon8240 America is the richest country in the world
@@OneDerscoreOneder no, America is by far not the richest country in the world. Even Ireland is richer than america. How about you check if your statement is true before you make it.
@Auntie Semite hey now
They wanted Arnold to be the title character in Amadeus, but he said, "I'll be Bach!"
That would be hilarious!
sad to say, but back and bach are pronounced differently. especially for a native german speaker like arnold.
This pun hinges on how you pronounce "Bach", so it does have something to do with pronunciation :P
It's still damn funny though ^^
You must be fun at parties
9/10
If Arnold dies I hope they make it a national holiday because I'm taking a week off either way to marathon all of his movies
Don't be ridiculous, you mortal fool. Arnold is a god and will live forever :p
that's why I wrote 'if' because I'm confident he'll find a way around that pesky thing called 'death' :D
He will stick around forever... in our hearts =].
I'll just watch Conan the Barbarian on repeat all week, upping the volume by 10DB each time.
Sounds like a great idea! Maybe I'll join you.
I think Schwarzenegger is the closest thing we've had to a second Clint Eastwood. He doesn't direct his own movies like Eastwood does, but both of them have demonstrated a keen understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, and have done so much to control their image and how people see them.
That's ironic since Clint is one of Arnold's idols
@@LukeLovesRose ironic? how so
Because he's become the very thing he set out to become....
@@LukeLovesRose That's not irony.
@jack bran nah, true lies was his last good movie.
I think, as far as his movies go, it's because he's one of the last few and genuine movie stars left. Character bigger than life in his own right. That kind of quality translates to roles and performances all-around.
That and his memorable Austrian accent lol. The latter really worked in his favor in Conan the Barbarian as it made him sound more 'barbaric' to American audiences, hence augmenting the authenticity of his character.
So what does that make Cruise, Clooney, Hanks, Gibson, Pitt, Willis, Ford???
what about them?
They are all top movie stars too.
I wouldn't call them bigger than life though like Arnold is.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is the embodiment of hard work pays off, Arnold knew what he didn't have in talent, he could overcome with sheer willpower. you want inspiration? motivation? - Schwarzenegger!
@David Sikent Genetics are overrated.
isnt it amazing arnold can do da comedy but not stallone
Never realized how Schwarzenegger stood out from the others. Maggie was a pleasant surprise and I honestly I only saw it because he was in it.
That's what I like about him, he's getting these unique interesting films a platform, whilst getting to experiment as an actor.
never realized? what planet you from? :)
I don't think it's a matter of how as much as why. It's obvious he stood out from the others as he was basically the face of the action movie genre. Why he stood out had always been the question since, as actors go, he isn't very good. However, this video explains perfectly why he stands out from the rest and what makes him so endearing.
What makes him different? He has a strong sense of charisma
islam is autis ,mastema I feel like he never took himself, too seriously. Stallone took himself too seriously.
and he talks da cool talk sali
This video is a perfect representation of why he was my childhood idol, he symbolizes what hard work and effort can result in. Anybody can do anything as long as they do what he did; try. He's got a determination that rivals no other. He's who I wished I could be one day. Fantastic work as always, keep it up.
You really get sucked in on a pitch - need to work on that. Or you're anybody's fool.
Steroids
yes ,he was very thorough with his path to success. He even manipulated Columbo , to Win Mr Olympia. He played his cards very well.A Machiavellic person.
Watch pumping Iron with the scene where he openly talks about manipulating his training partner who trusted him.
Bago Pamping Iron wasn't documentroy, they staged a lot of situation, and Arnold was playing a charactor, not him self. For example Lou Ferrigno's father never was involved into his training, but they faked it in the movie. I do think Arnold can be sneaky and manipulative person, and I don't think he achived everything the right and clean way, but I am sure he didn't manipulate Franko Columbu.
Dormammu
"Anybody can do anything"
Say that type of shit to people who actually understand life.
What did Arnold say when he was asked to upgrade his computer system?
"I still love Vista, baby!"
haha good one
haha!
Good joke.
Yo HAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAAHAHAHAHA
That’s really good right there.
Fun fact: Arnold was a millionaire before he was an actor. Bodybuilding wasn't mainstream in the 70's, and he didn't make much money despite winning all the competitions. Instead, he made a killing in both real estate, and his own brick laying business. When California was hit with a pretty bad earthquake back in the early 70's, Arnold made a killing in sales. Guy may not have been smart enough to keep his infidelity a secret (though there's rumors that Maria was aware, especially since Arnie knew she was cheating on him FIRST, though most don't know that since the news/media ain't gonna present Royalty in a negative light), but he sure was a smart businessman. Heck, had that scandal never broke, I was certain he'd be the first non-American to be president of the United States.
2 things that make Zeh Ahnold stand out:1).he's a very smart guy,he was a millionaire even before his movie career started and he did this by signing a lucrative endorsement deal with Joe Weider Gyms and working as a real estate broker.
2).He has a great sense of humour, never beeing afraid of making fun of himself or his movies.
Just watch ''The Last Action Hero'',this whole movie is nothing more then Arnie making fun of this image and the whole action-genre in general, sadly the audience didn't get it,when it was released.
absolutely correct
That's right. It is funny how many people underestimate his talent and intelligence just because of his accent and his bodybuilding career (there is this dumb prejudice that bodybuilders are all superficial morons) when many of his feats and actions speak otherwise.
However, and beyond all his success, he is also a pretty decent and virtuous human being. I've never feel him arrogant or full of himself like many other actors of his era (especially Stallone and Willis, who I've read that they are quite douches outside their movie roles).
The Last Action Hero is one of my favorite Arnie movies and i never got it why ppl didn't like it!? It is such a smart comedy and satire of the action genre. Almost whole movie he makes irony of the action genre... I never get bored watching it.
drop the cookie nao, though
Oh man, last action hero, I remember liking that as a kid.
*What makes Arnold different?*
*According to Arnold: "I have an ahhhccent, I have a name people can hahhhdly pronounce..."*
As an immigrant, he's always been one of my favorite people, all his accomplishments made him a powerhouse of confidence without sacrificing his good nature.
Arnold is basically a modern day John Wayne: A larger than life guy who basically played himself/the same type of role in all of his work in his youth/majority of his career, but showed a surprising amount of range in his roles towards the end of his career.
will always love Arnie
What made Arnold better? He's a genuinely intelligent person. By far the most intelligent action star EVER. And this intelligence shines through on the screen in many ways.
Lundgren is legitimately a genius.
Lundgren would wipe the floor with Arnold if the subject was science
@@mrcritical6751 Lundgren ...isn't he also karate black belt?
He would’ve been successful in anything he did
Unbelievably charismatic, ridiculously hard working, intelligent and just an all round dude

spudplays hey I've got the knife he used when he said that.
What knife it was???
Google "Predator Machete". There are tons of replicas of it. Not cheap, though.
Thanks man.
Blow off some steam
There will be one day, THAT day, where all the 80's action heroes will die. That will be shitty.. for an adult who spent his childhood in the 90's
Like...on the same day? Are you planning something?
Whaaat..? Nah, I meant like, THAT day, when the last one dies. Will be a sad day. Maybe the next gen, like Statham, Vin Diesel will carry on the torch.
Or maybe we will soon see another 'Arnold Schwarzenegger', notably a bodybuilder who transitions to acting and eventually politics. The following man is expected to be the next 'Arnold Schwarzenegger' in a couple of years according to the bodybuilding community and popular sports media. Makes sense too because he is currently also a champion bodybuilder (Mr. Olympia, the same title that Arnold used to hold before becoming a Hollywood celebrity) with potential to become an actor. Mark my words, one of these days everyone is going to know his name, notably Phil Heath:
brakelimits.weebly.com/uploads/2/9/9/1/29916747/1400535678.jpg
That dude looks like he is about to take a massive shit haha. He also looks like just another short meathead who took too many steroids and who has 0 talent other than posing in a thong, most definitely NOT the next Arnold Schwarzenegger!
Shit.. Not a nice thought man.
Great video and makes me think of an inevitable remake of Last Action Hero but even The Rock doesn't have that certain ingredient Arnold had for a Jack Slater movie in a movie.
i actually think he is the only one who has
I recently rewatched it, and I don’t think anybody else could pull off that self deprecating humour and satire like he did in it.
Nothing ironic about All-Americans being portrayed by foreign actors. America was kinda founded by foreigners anyway
Horray for immigrants!
true
Did you know that America's first SEVEN presidents weren't even born in America.. which means they wasn't american.. that's including 2 of the best they ever had who come in top 3 lists as best ever like Washington and Jefferson
Santiago Ferrari America is not a continent.. North America is... America is a country
Ganja Caliphate U.S.A is a country, America is a Continent!
When I first heard of Maggie, I was skeptical. The action-hero tank doing a serious movie. But after watching it, I was legit impressed with his acting. I never thought I would get feels and then boom! An amazing actor
I think it's insane how Arnold has managed to stay relevant in every stage of his career. Almost as if he never hit a low point.
Arnold is a goddam treasure to the world and my personal all time favorite actors.
I can respect the others, but I like Arnold's acting.
"probably is one of the most legendary bodybuilders of all time". He IS one of the top bodybuilders EVER. Everyone is bodybuilding community has crazy respect for him
my brother worked for arnold for five years when arnie was gov...he told me that arnold was very funny, friendly and great to work for even though my bro' is a democrat! oh, my brother brought us some of arnie's cigars when he came home for visits-- :D
I always thought he was a nice guy. Thanks for confirming that.
Lucky bastard
Arnie will be forever my all time favorite action hero, there was not a film he did that I ever miss and the fact he still try and do films that are a challenge for him made it more awesome and inspiring, defined agree on that statement, he is truly a gift to cinema history.
That was an interest piece Rossatron. Got anybody planned?
I'd like to look at all the greats really of the time, from Willis/Stallone, to Lundgren/Van Damme, in some way. They do take a little more planning though, so don't expect them too regularly.
+Rossatron A Jackie Chan video would probably be too mainstream? **faint hope** Even I understand that there was so much said about the man at this point, that to come up with a video that would look at some new aspect of his work would be ... wait, if I use the word "challenging" that would sound like a taunt... Sorry, didn't mean that! Nvm, thanks for the video. Keep up the good work!
Willis - Van Damme would be great!
I'm glad I found your channel
Arnold is the kind of actor who could say silly things but gave weight because you felt he and his characters meant it in every way. While also showing a good level of gentleness and innocence allowing the audience to love him and have a bond with him.
Your channel is amazing and has given me a whole new level of appreciation for action films. Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words!
As an Austrian myself i love Arnie. I love him and am very proud of him. Hope to meet him someday.
I totally disagree that Arnold is not a great actor. He's probably the most underrated actor of all time. He can do comedy brilliantly and serious roles like Predator far better than anyone today.
It's also interesting to note that he was a millionaire before he ever got into acting.
Can you do tribute to Bill Paxton? I thought he was interesting as an actor/director.
Excellent video. Often I watch videos like this and they go on and on, and have no structure and a weak point to it all. But this video is just great, it's clear the message you want the viewer to come away with and you illustrate the point so well. Well done.
Arnie's story is really inspiring and the simple idea you set out of 1. being self aware and 2. pushing yourself to keep evolving and trying new things sums up his attitude well, and as you said is an attitude that can only bring you greatness.
this is one of the best youtube vids I ever saw yet; very interesting angle, technically it is so fast and punchy yet you really get to the core of your subject without ''feeling'' judgemental! great work chap!
Keep the great content coming. Would love to see you tackle the potential of upcoming action stars. :)
I've flown the flag for Scott Adkins and Michael Jai White a lot, but in terms of new action stars, my radar hasn't really picked up on any really interesting people. I think Jeeja Yanin stood a good chance, but has sort of fallen away a bit into henchmen roles sadly.
Jason Statham ?
Mada Faka upcoming??
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Jackie Chan and where he's at right now.
Tom Hardy
Great video. Arnold is my personal favorite amongst 1980s style action heroes. He is an inspiration to us all. Thank you for capturing his essence in this touching and outstanding tribute.
Huge respect to Mr Arnold, ever since I was a kid watching his films, I admired him. And like you said with “Maggie” his recent films may not be all that good, but he’s the best part of those films.
I actually thought Maggie was pretty good. It may have just been that I had no expectations for it, but it really impressed me.
Awesome video. Thank you for putting this content out there. Very excited to watch Arnold's recent movies now.
This was an excellent observation of one of our cultural icons. The more I learn about this man, the more I respect him. Thanks for shining some well-deserved light on the man, myth and legenegger!
The main things that differentiated Schwarzenegger as an actor were mainly: 1. his physique 2. his charisma 3. he was in really good movies with good directors 4. unlike other action movie stars of his era most of his movies were different from each other.
I salute his liver. He admitted they were dropping dianabol like candy back in the 80's. That takes a toll on your body.
But he said he never over did them.. only used them during cutting phase. He just has insane genetics
Saluted on the d a i l y
@@psychicpebbles98 Don't believe that lol. All bodybuilders down play their steroid use. They work really really hard but steroids play a HUGE part of how they achieve their bodies. Trust me, without heavy steroid use, they would not look the way they do. Its just they downplay their steroid use to society. Furthermore, plenty of people around that time admit arnold and other bodybuilders were taking dianabol, deca, etc. and other steroids like candy.
@@jessejames863 Yes but still nothing compared to the amount of stuff modern bodybuilders take. There's a reason why these golden era guys reach 70-80 years and are still healthy while these modern guys look like they're on the brink of death at 30 - 40 years.
@@psychicpebbles98 the modern guys take human growth hormone which is like 100 times worse then steoroids because it grows every living tissue in your body your brain heart kidneys intestines head hands feet grow larger that is why guys like Rich Piana Died at 47. I dont know why they take HGH but i guess they feel that just steroids are not enough anymore.
There's a great motivational speech Arnie gave at a commencement I believe. Life changing stuff.
This was fantastic! I hope Mr. Schwarzenegger gets to see this video some day.
You and me both
When I was a Kid I wanted to grow up like Arnie and now that Im 37, I actually still admire him for what he has accomplished
another fantastic video. Sabotage was so underrated in my opinion and it was great seeing Arnie in that type of role. Comforting was a great way to describe him, he's exactly that. when it comes to Arnie, he is in so many films that you see are on the TV guide when skipping through and switch over to straight away. The point about his directors is bang on. He's a clever man and willing to trust others due to his limitations.
I'm so glad that he is taking on more serious roles and showing his acting ability, Maggie isn't my favorite Arnie movie, but I love him in it because he's so believable as a grief stricken father
He was pretty much my hero when I was kid. As an adult he still inspires me.
The accent, the physique, the Arnold dry humor and the 120% effort.
Do an episode on The Rock and why he is loved in everything! He almost feels like the next bigger than life action star. Movies like The Rundown, Fast and Furios franchise, and Faster are fun and action packed movies.
Yeah, I find the Rock fascinating in this same way. 15 years ago (like, circa Mummy II) the idea of him seriously becoming an actor was more like a joke. "Haha, another wrestler who'll star in a couple films and then slink back to the ring." Instead, he's almost certainly a bigger star NOW than he was even at his peak in 90s WWE. And also, as you say, almost universally loved. Who *doesn't* at least like The Rock? It's pretty amazing.
Jason Blalock almost certainly? He is the highest paid actor in the world
What is also amazing about The Rock, is that he's been an action start in both serious blockbusters, but at the same time, he's been in a lot of fun silly kids movies where he doesn't take himself too seriously. A very great range
Why the Rock is so successful? That is easy, he's got height, muscles, a decent bone structure, a handsome face and natural charisma. No need to make a 10 minute video to illustrate such a simple concept.
Dwayne Johnson is the closest thing we have to an 80s action star right now. Arnold basically passed the torch to him in the Rundown. My only problem is that he needs to associate himself with better directors like Arnold did. Shane Black is a step in the right direction.
Great Video! And since you mentioned Creed and Stallone, I would love to see a video about the genre of Boxing Films, since I recently watched Creed and couldn't help but imagine the hell it must have been to film some of the bouts in it.
Its funny how Arnie has way more range than Willis now over the last 5 years.
I loved your vid, man. I truly did. And that ending, that particular scene from Predator, with that BGM, damn. It is just gorgeous. it makes the vid very touching and deep. Thx a lot for this upload. I did enjoyed!!!!
Wonderful video Rossatron, Arnie is a true inspiration in all the right ways, Your viddy is super appreciated!
I think Arnold's greatest strength is his 'poor' roots. From what i've seen, he has at no point in his life ever thought himself better than the average man. Always down to earth.
So while Stallone and willis are flaunting their fame and physique Arnold isn't. It really does allow you to view him as just another guy, down to earth.
I've had the honor to meet Arnold in person twice; before and after governorship. The premiere of True Lies as a kid, and later as an adult for the premiere of Expendables 2. His success can be attributed to the fact that he knows how to entertain his audience, whether in person or onscreen.
Can't believe u have almost 60k subs dude, I've been subscribed since 2k. Keep it up you're blowing up and it's because of great content.
I remember! Thanks for the support, it has kicked off quite nicely.
You forgot to mention his successful construction business!
CHOIR BOY! I feel you on the almost 'comforting' part, his movies are great, but I can't deny I almost love his soundboard prank calls that people do, they may not be made by him, but I would not have the laughs I have had without him saying some brilliant phrases!
Great video. My personal favourite so far 👌🏼
I loved him in Maggie as it was so different to what kind of films I'm used to seeing him in
The other day a kid I work with asked if there will be a celebrity death that will really effect me.
I promptly said Arnold. Arnold passing will hurt pretty bad. I have seen his movies so many times. He raised me.
George Carlin hit me hard. That's the only one I can remember that I really cared about. Arnold will suck but hopefully it's a long way off.
I love Arnold, since i was young.. and now that i am growing older. He will always have that special place in my heart..
This is exactly the reason why i like Arni, he always gives 100% and wants to entertain.
Nailed it :)
Completely agree with your statements. Alongside his willingness to do new things and advance his career, I do think his accent and written for one-line aid in appeal. No other actor has enough quotes to entertain a whole room of any age members.
His accent and the way he speak makes him really memorable.
This video touches on all of the reason's why I love this actor and why he is so good. Thank you.
I'd like to see you do vid on the last stand actually. I really like it, as a neat consistent little action film.
Great vid!! His story is sooo inspiring
That was beautiful man, thanks!
Love this video, thank you for making it!
I thought he was excellent in Maggie. I liked the film but his portrayal of an old world weary man, just trying to do his best for his daughter is fantastic.
Awesome video, explains it all. Cheers.
I really love this channel , guess I might "stick around"
You'll be back.
You'll be "dead tired".
Another great analysis.
for those who have not heard it, look up Bill Burrs routine on Arnold. Its incredible.
I like that you have respect for the action genre. All I can remeber from the 80s are the great action movies like robocop and running man. They told important stories
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan were my heroes as a kid. In fact, they continue to be my heroes as an adult. They're both incredibly charismatic and hard-working, it's just impossible not to love them.
Thanks for making this, I love Arnold's story.
What i like about arnold is his determination and he realized he's a walking talking meme so he tries working around it. People wondered why his accent doesn't go away even after living in america for so long. He knows that is his trademark. The man is a genius and strong willed.
Working with good directors has definitely been a key part of his success- and that's a lesson to learn in life too...that you can't do everything on your own and the team that you work with and that supports you is as important to your success as your individual effort. Might seem straight-forward to some people, but people like me have learned this the hard way to have realized the importance of swallowing one's ego and letting others help you.
Arnold is one of my heroes for many of the reasons you've stated in this video. Bravo!
Also, it's not really good film commentary, but I'd love to hear a top action list from you, or top films in certain action subgenres like kung fu, scifi action, horror action, etc.
Crazy thing; I was watching Batman and Robin earlier. And i must say, as bad as that entire movie was, Arnie( unlike Clooney) felt like he knew exactly the type of movie he was in. I actually enjoy his campy approach when I watch the movie with that understanding
I recently visited his Wikipedia page to look up the title of Aftermath, and the table of contents alone left me with the same feeling. If you've got four different career sections and success in all of them, that's pretty awesome.
Arnie was like a role model I never had. The way he does things is similar to how I approach life. I don't do anything unless if I know I will have some idea it will do well. I always strive to improve myself as well and I try to be experimental myself. My appreciation for him as increased even more.
how can you say his comedies are not as memorable?! twins and jingle all the way are some of the BEST Arnie films
This is all the more reason Arnold is one of my favorite people to meet up with and perhaps go lift and get fit for the next generation terminator.
Let's just be honest here, he had a screen presence that was unrivalled.
*_Because he was the first Terminator to ever govern a state of the US_*
It will be a sad day when Arnie passes. Love this guy! Terminator was my first R sci-fi as a kid.
I think Arnie would do fine in more dramatic or comedic projects, since he's physically beyond his age for any hardcore action stuff. And I'm also ok with that since he was fantastic (imo) in Maggie. The fact that he and his fellow 80s actions stars like Willis, Sly, Van Damme and Lundgren (minus Seagall of course) are all doing genres they've rarely played in and in a way kind of work for them, warms my heart that these 'old geezers' can still entertain the lot of us in such a new and different way. Great video btw.
I think what appeals to me most about Arnie is that he's never come across as jaded or cynical or a shallow asshole. Whatever his personal shortcomings may be, he really does seem to understand hard work, cooperation, and how to help people in need.
I've been thinking: Arnold deserves some kind of lifetime Oscar. Call it "best action star ever," or something
Man, this is a pretty great breakdown of Arnie.
"Stallone never felt comfortable in the few comic roles he's gone for" Being uncomfortable was the whole point of his character in the Demolition Man, so he pulled that one off.
You can tell he loves acting. You can tell he has balls and he'll try - sometimes very successfully to branch out. I just wish people could accept him for the way he talks. That's not how you critique acting.
Thanks Rossatron for these consistently thoughtful videos
There is something very admirable about arnie isn't there? His hard work, the way he pushes himself, he is the real deal, not just pretending
