Motion designer for 20 years now. A lot of my projects rely on tuts like this saving me hours and hours trying to figure something like this out. I have the utmost respect and appreciated for people who share content like this. Back in the day you had to order books and DVD's, or ask an old curmudgeon colleague and hoped they were cool enough to share their knowledge. Thank you!
Hey man I have just found your channel , I was just losing interest in c4d and felt very jaded its been more than 12 years being in this field , dealing with clients and work pressure has left a sour taste in my mouth .This channel has again some how rekindled my love for motion graphics and c4d , thank you so much.
Damn, Man! you are awesome!!! working on a client project which included some cloth in it and was looking for animation on youtube to inspire me and you gave me that!!!
Hello. I do everything like in class. But my fabric doesn't fly. It just moves in one place. What to do? I check again and again, I'm doing everything right.
Thank you so much for this tutorial !! it really helped me understand one way of playing around with cloth sims !! One thing I wanted to ask though, the sim looks really nice but there is something super important in my opinion that is missing, which would really make that sim perfect : the self collision. I tried to play around with it in the cloth tag within the expert tab, but I lose that cool silk feel of the cloth when floating (plus, the self collision in expert tab make the mesh cross each other anyway at some place of the plane) I was wondering if you had any idea on how to make it look nice, keeping that silky smoothnes of the sim while having a self collision ? thanks again for the video !!
Thanks for the comment Oussama. I have heard that other people have the same problem. The tutorial has some bumps and caveats, but I think the solution to the problem is to use the new and improved cloth simulation in cinema R26. I know that for some people this isn't ideal but in the way that cinema works i don't think you have any other options.
Hi Lukas, congrats for what are you doing in this industry. I am new in C4d and i have different version( latest one), but all the setting look so different, and i am getting stuck!
Greate thing thanx! Will do. It would be maximum cool if there will be any chance to explain specs you enter, It great when there is a possibility to understand them while practicing
Thanks a lot for a cool tutorial on Cloth. If I want the cloth don't penetrate in it while flying, is it possible? Does turning on the "self-collision", solve the issue?
Hi, thanks for this wonderful tutorial. I followed each and every step exactly the way you explained but my cloth starts slowly goes in the center of the attractor and then the attractor pulls it all in the middle very fast the cloth stays in the middle of the attractor with crazy movements. Please help
Yes I did and I kept the values of each and every parameter exactly the same as you did. Now I am trying to control it with Attractor force, in start it's value is high and after 20-30 frames I am bringing it down.
So this may be a dumb question. But every time I try to connect these elements into one object (I just want to create static cloth objects from the simulation) I'm unable to move it. Is there a better way to consolidate all of the elements into something like a static object?
@Lukas Thorup Please please please please I just wanna know how I can make this move around a slender I need to know how can I make it move around a line I draw

Thank you so much, it means a lot 🔥

Still my go to cloth tutorial even with Cinema 4D 2023. Cheers mate.
Awesome 🙌
Man I never even thought about using a cloth with field forces, love it!
Hey man, love you vids. Glad I could help
LETTTSSS GOOOO!! I was waiting for this!!!
I am so glad to hear mate ;)
Damn, Man! you are awesome!!! working on a client project which included some cloth in it and was looking for animation on youtube to inspire me and you gave me that!!!
Works even better with S26 Cloth engine
i love it thank you so much!
Coool!!! Thank You so much!!! You BEST!
Thanks dude 🙏

hey can you please help me, I cannot find this wind forces setting, its just empty block, Im using r26
Hi Lukas, congrats for what are you doing in this industry. I am new in C4d and i have different version( latest one), but all the setting look so different, and i am getting stuck!
here the same
Damn! Thank You so much! Keep them coming! (...if possible)
Sure dude, just glad I could help 😉
Hey really awesome tutorial!! so, how do you avoid self collision?
Thank you for making such nice tutorials 🙏🙏
thanks pal it would have been great if you could have shared lighting and rendering also
Epic tutorial, thank you
Greate thing thanx! Will do. It would be maximum cool if there will be any chance to explain specs you enter, It great when there is a possibility to understand them while practicing
Thank you very much, we hope to Tech us hoe to apply this effect for a curtain
Omg, the new c4d looks so good
Me too, I love the new look
how is your animation so smooth even upon iterating it? mine slumps to like 1fps and im running a thread ripper and a 2080ti!
Just found your channel, and it rocks!
very easy and quick, thanks!
Thank you, bro, cool tutorial!

Yeah self collision helps
Really nice tutorial, thank you!
Awesome thanks!
This Tut geht into my brain....
Hello, please give me an analysis of shading and light in cinema4d
great tutorial
Amazing one. Thank you!
Thank you a lot!!!
I really thank you !!!

Ohh I see, did you make a spherical field around the attractor, and set it to invert
Yes I did and I kept the values of each and every parameter exactly the same as you did. Now I am trying to control it with Attractor force, in start it's value is high and after 20-30 frames I am bringing it down.
Brilliant!
Thank you so much 💖
Very good tutorial! Thank u very much)
nice one, how did you get the crease/pleats?
I made a material that took care of the small creases. People have been asking me this a lot, so I'm gonna make a tutorial on it
@@lukasthorup oh thanks, cannot seem to get it right.
thanks for your tutorial, what version of c4d can this tutorial ?
I'm using S24
@@lukasthorup thankssss

You could try backing it as and alembic, and then just turn off animation in the alembic settings
Im not sure why you added a field force. It would have had no effect.
Thanks
Thank you
cool, but very difficult to keep track of what you're doing on the screen
Noted, I'll try to be better. Thanks for the feedback 😊
yes I think the desktop resolution is too high and if you watch this video on a small screen 1080P you can't really see the UI
ouch... is impossible to make it in r19 right? i try to follow in attractor, but i cant see some options!
I think it is, sorry dude. It's the damn cinema ghost, that's on the loose again
@@lukasthorup no worries! thanks for reply!
Is this possible to make it follow a path?
Yeah, you can use a belt tag to do it
f..k ilooove it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wuuuuyy
Please provide us with your rendering setup .. is a 4g rtx enough to render out a similar scene within a reasonable timeframe?
Yeah it should be, it took me 1min per frame, with a RTX 2060
in the c4d 2023 the cloth tag looks very different, I could not finish the lesson.
turn on legacy solver in basic
@Lukas Thorup
Please please please please I just wanna know how I can make this move around a slender
I need to know how can I make it move around a line I draw
Is there a way to do this in R19?
can i make it to move in a certain way somehow?
You can use splines in a field force to make the cloth follow the spline
#AriaFaithJones ... Can this be achieved with blender
🤟🏽
wow
