@@ScottHermanFitness true. The same has happened with other books as well, like those from Mark Twain, or other classics that used the language OF THAT TIME, which is now not appropriate to use, but in the context of that time, that culture, the words are vital to the stories. Don’t rewrite history. Appreciate it, learn from it. If it’s bad history, use it as a springboard to better choices going forward. Anyway, I saw you’re getting backlash about your rant. I get it. Nobody wants to have their favorite guru spin off into a political storm that tarnished their opinion of him, of you, but this one is a no brainer. Don’t mess with the literature and the history of who we are. Obviously we can always do better, but don’t erase the past. Use it for a better present and future. And absolutely, parents need to be teaching their kids to be healthy and not gloopy.

I mean, they can remove whatever they want, but fat will always be fat to me. People's opinion of your unhealthy body size is not gonna change even when they don't explicitly say it, which, by the way, has been common courtesy since the dawn of time. It's always been something that is better off left unspoken unless you're being a D* or asked to be honest, in which case my honest opinion is that fat people are fat, skinny people are skinny, and you can never lift enough weights.
Point being: It's not explicit verbal shaming they're scared of, it's the silent judgment, too. They genuinely believe they can change the way you think by changing what you're allowed to say. It doesn't work that way. My mind is my own.

The root causes of obesity are the same root causes behind every problem regardless of strength or size. Its a mental problem related to physical problems. Everyone needs better education, more awareness, better organization, focus, healthier diet, and better sleep. In order to lose or gain weight you need to believe you can so having faith is important too. Problem with removing any kind of shaming is that it lowers the chance of being made to feel uncomfortable enough TO change. Pain stirs us into action. Shame causes us to reflect. I see cancel culture as a bad parent that enables their child to live irresponsibly until that child is 30+ years old and still living without direction. Many bad parents think they’re doing something good or out of love but they dont know that what they’re doing is actually horrible- and so cancel culture is tone death and stupid but thats no surprise because many people really are that way.

Much respect Scott but lately you look for things to get angry about…
You can look this up yourself…
in-fact most of your comment section should too but…
Obese is latin for eat away.
As someone who has studied health you know not everyone eats their way into a weight problem.
Fat is middle english for cram or load.
    A more MODERN and accurate way to describe this health issue is the;
patient-friendly term such as “weight,” “BMI,” “weight problem,” or excess weight.”
C&CF was written in the 1960s. Your a fitness expert in 2023.
Stop getting angry and read your health sciences text books. You’ll be surprised how many new words you’ll learn

Scott I appreciate you taking the time to respond and btw Im a long time fan.
When you say standup before its to late, and not sugarcoat. What does that mean to you?
Health issues will exist as long as there are human beings.
But we change and languages change.
Im a health care professional, and in my profession what used to be common practice and common language has changed with more science and information.
What I don’t do is use slang and expressions when talking to patients because its unprofessional and UNDERMINES the complexities of their health with opinion.
You address their health with the most ACCURATE TERMS, and if the terms and definitions change, then as a professional you should adjust.
Its 2023 and we all have weak points.
Im a workaholic and need to focus on my physical health which is why Im a subscriber.

I'm a pretty liberal person, but I'm anything but a snowflake. That said I don't agree with these movements trying to bumper bowl people through adversities in life, but the right-hinged reaction to it is insufferable. Especially when it's from ostensibly successful public figures punching down on everyday people
Again, I don't agree with them, but they're struggling in their struggles. This attitude isn't helpful, it's just from individuals who can't relate and they're annoyed about things changing around them. If the intent of this video was to help anyone, it misses the mark. There are much more helpful methods of communicating influence to people who are listening to you, and maybe even looking up to you. This rant was gross and totally "bro"
Thank you for all the workout assistance over the past couple years Scott Herman. I think I've gotten all the help from you I can up to this point. In an ocean of health influencers there are plenty of others I can consume, who don't comport themselves like this

I don’t think you judging me on the way I think and speak and punching down on me because I don’t have the same outlook on life as you is very nice.
      See how this works?
And I wasnt a “successful public figure” when I started holding myself accountable for my actions and learned how to be a hard worker.
We live in an out of control world where there is an excuse for everything.
Sorry you feel that way. Pretty cool of you to dismiss my 13 years of education because you didn’t like my point of view in this one video.
      Very accepting of you.
Also, this has nothing to do with politics so I dont understand the need to bring it up.
This is the future health of our children and they are getting fatter by the second.

Seeing a lot of opinions like this.
This was a decision the estates made for financial reasons. It wasn’t forced upon them my society. They looked at some of the language in the books (which should 100% be left unedited) and decided new language would make it more appealing.
It’s not the woke mob or whatever. It’s the same as Gillette a few years, rich people trying to maximise profits.

Rewriting books like that is kind of trying to rewrite history, by doing it we can't see how the society has evolved from there.

Now, I'm eating right, barely, and I don't eat treats or soda that often because I'm better off as a fit, healthy, and having muscle in my life to live in a better lifestyle. I'm still reaching my goal weight and figuring out what body type that will represent myself of who I want to look like.
