You have every right to call Jeff out for this. If you write a thesis and copy another author's approach 1:1, that's considered plagiarism even if you only copied the exact approach and not even the words or the results. I know this is YT and not the university, but it's fundamentally the same problem, copying a creative idea without mentioning its originator. It's dishonest at the very least.

Writing a thesis on the same subject as somebody else is not considered plagiarism when the content of the thesis is fundamentally different. Plagiarism is presenting another person's work as your own without consent. The exercises on the videos are different. This literally means that they do not agree even on the fundamentals of the subject. By definition this cannot be plagiarism. In fact, what Scott is doing in this video could be considered much more serious. He is basically accusing Jeff in public of copying his content without evidence. Jeff could literally make a case for slander and actually file a lawsuit against Scott.

Just want to say that I both follow you and Jeff on the OG days. You were wearing those blue shorts while Jeff was in his basement gym at that time. Both of you are one of my favorite fitness youtubers as I get free fitness knowledge, even today. The irony of this is I would have said the ONLY TWO bodybuilding guys you need to follow on UA-cam are Scott Herman and Jeff Cavaliere. I think you're both great, and you both have been super helpful to me on my weightlifting journey. Bummed that friction has arisen, but I'm also confident the Internet is big enough for both of you. Serious Q: have you tried to contact Cavalier about this prior to the video? I ask because coming up(41) I was taught to go to someone when you had an issue with them. Pop and grandpa would encourage you to get them on the phone or talk to them face to face to hash it out. I have taken that mindset with me to this day where if I have an issue w a company, I call their service number, see them in person or private message them as opposed to trying to blast them online as a 1st resort. It feels like the modern era is moreso geared to doing things publicly via social media for situations that a call or email could rectify. However, I do 100% understand your gripe, I saw another vid that looked like a subliminal shot at you and it would make me feel some kind of way. Full disclosure, I count you and AthleanX among the vintage era fitness youtubers. I think you both have worthwhile information.

It’s not really that unique an idea. I doubt it was copied. There’s so many videos called “do this 1 thing”. “The only 3 exercises” etc. He just happened to choose the number 2. This is a big stretch and just looks like clickbait for drama.
So you have a copyright on the ability to make a video about muscle groups? He's made videos like those long before he started on the only two. It's a good concept for a video for needs to do quick workouts. Let's cut down on the jealous cry baby whining on stuff that isn't that big of a deal, especially since it's VERY possible he wanted to do this series and it just happens to be very similar to one you did. Great minds can think alike, ya know.
Dude, when you talk about fitness, you're channel is awesome. But, 3 of your last 5 videos are clickbait crap. If you don't have any ideas for a new video, just post you're current workout, or what you're putting in homemade smoothies these days. Most of us will be able to learn just by watching you do the exercises with some badass royalty free music over it, no commentary needed.

I can see that you put a lot of effort into the series and the video organization, but again, nothing new. A format that has existed for a while, it's hardly copying. I stopped following Athlean x after he lied to everyone with his fake plates, lied about his trt and said not to do situps then months later encourages to do them. Some of his advice is ridiculous too.
He flip flops on many exercises for content and the sad thing about the fake weights is that if he just admitted it I dont think anyone would have really cared. If he just explained how exhausting filming content is (believe me I know), and thats why he did it.. then fine.. whatever. But to use fake weights to show a 500lbs+ deadlift that you CAN'T do... thats a big no no.
This might be an unpopular opinion from me, but the idea of a video or video series covering the two top exercises for various muscle groups sounds like the most simplistic, overgeneralized concept imaginable. Meaning, I find it hard and frankly silly tor anyone to claim the idea as their own "original" content. It's like music artists trying to sue eachother for making songs with the most basic chord progressions known to man thinking they have some claim to a melody. Not saying Jeff is 100% innocent. I just don't think this reaction is entirely fair.
Instagram and Tik Tok offered new methods for reach, but have poisoned many over time. New gym goers think they must vlog their basic arm workouts or do stuff to hurt themselves for a viral tik tok challenge. Quests for knowledge have taken a back seat to egos and idiocracy

@ScottHerminFitness Your 'Only two exercises' has been the foundation of all my workouts. They are what I call the main course, everything else is like side dishes and dessert. First I'll do the 'only two', if I have more time, I'll do more exercises. I train my clients the same way.
Mike Mentzers training is the best, and i tried yours and athleneX and got slow progress, i tried mikes and got stronger within a week and growth far quicker, 30minutes in the gym is all i do, i am 34 and a bare knuckle fighter and i stand by mikes training programme 100%

Just want to say that I both follow you and Jeff on the OG days. You were wearing those blue shorts while Jeff was in his basement gym at that time. Both of you are one of my favorite fitness youtubers as I get free fitness knowledge, even today. I ask because coming up(41) I was taught to go to someone when you had an issue with them. Pop and grandpa would encourage you to get them on the phone or talk to them face to face to hash it out. I have taken that mindset with me to this day where if I have an issue w a company, I call their service number, see them in person or private message them as opposed to trying to blast them online as a 1st resort.
It feels like the modern era is moreso geared to doing things publicly via social media for situations that a call or email could rectify.
However, I do 100% understand your gripe, I saw another vid that looked like a subliminal shot at you and it would make me feel some kind of way.
Full disclosure, I count you and AthleanX among the vintage era fitness youtubers. I think you both have worthwhile information.

It’s not really that unique an idea. I doubt it was copied. There’s so many videos called “do this 1 thing”. “The only 3 exercises” etc. He just happened to choose the number 2.

It's a good concept for a video for needs to do quick workouts. Let's cut down on the jealous cry baby whining on stuff that isn't that big of a deal, especially since it's VERY possible he wanted to do this series and it just happens to be very similar to one you did. Great minds can think alike, ya know.
Dude, when you talk about fitness, you're channel is awesome. But, 3 of your last 5 videos are clickbait crap. If you don't have any ideas for a new video, just post you're current workout, or what you're putting in homemade smoothies these days. Most of us will be able to learn just by watching you do the exercises with some badass royalty free music over it, no commentary needed.

It must be difficult in some ways when you are dealing with a limited amount of body parts and routines or lifts to not have overlap. That said to straight up plaigarise others work and the format of how it has been set out is real poor form. Him choosing to do 2 now doesn't really seem like copying tbh, but something he would naturally progress to considering how many topics he had already done.
Plus, a lot of other youtubers have "the only *insert number* exercises you need to build *insert muscle*". Maybe not all with the exact title, but the content is the same

I can see that you put a lot of effort into the series and the video organization, but again, nothing new. A format that has existed for a while, it's hardly copying. And given how much info he gives and in what way, nobody can say he doesn't put a lot of effort into his videos too.
When I would say someone copied you or anyone else, especially with a topic that had been done numerous times, is when someone copies videos word by word. Like vshred did if I remember correctly

I stopped following Athlean x after he lied to everyone with his fake plates, lied about his trt and said not to do situps then months later encourages to do them. Some of his advice is ridiculous too.
He flip flops on many exercises for content and the sad thing about the fake weights is that if he just admitted it I dont think anyone would have really cared.
If he just explained how exhausting filming content is (believe me I know), and thats why he did it.. then fine.. whatever.
But to use fake weights to show a 500lbs+ deadlift that you CAN'T do... thats a big no no.

This might be an unpopular opinion from me, but the idea of a video or video series covering the two top exercises for various muscle groups sounds like the most simplistic, overgeneralized concept imaginable. Meaning, I find it hard and frankly silly tor anyone to claim the idea as their own "original" content. It's like music artists trying to sue eachother for making songs with the most basic chord progressions known to man thinking they have some claim to a melody. Not saying Jeff is 100% innocent. I just don't think this reaction is entirely fair.

@ScottHerminFitness Your 'Only two exercises' has been the foundation of all my workouts. They are what I call the main course, everything else is like side dishes and dessert.
First I'll do the 'only two', if I have more time, I'll do more exercises. I train my clients the same way.

Mike Mentzers training is the best, and i tried yours and athleneX and got slow progress, i tried mikes and got stronger within a week and growth far quicker, 30minutes in the gym is all i do, i am 34 and a bare knuckle fighter and i stand by mikes training programme 100%
