    great review! I reckon HB make those details soft because they just can't be arsed putting in too much effort as they know anyone chasing actual accuracy will discard them anyway for resin or 3D printed parts. If you can't see if the masking sheet has been die cut or not, I have found running a super thin wash over or around the top will cause the cut lines to be show themselves. And, it doesn't affect the adherence of the tape either. Just let it dry before you take it off the backing paper.

    The box art is the same scheme that I'm going to do my 1/72 Airfix one! Great review as always 😀👍

    I got this kit and I think it's quite good except for the primitive engines and the seam in the nose and tail turrets. Definitely worth building. Some aftermarket companies will probably step up with better turret and engine parts.

    Can’t wait to see what you do with it!!!! I would look at Kits World out of England for other marking options. I have a Revell B-24J that I am going to do as well”The Dragon and His Tail” that flew in the pacific theater during WWII.

    Was so excited for this kit, but the nose turret is a deal breaker. How did they even think that was a good idea?

      Good question! And one I have no answer to. Seems like a huge lack of judgement.

    The nose turret is of the same design as the old monogram kit.most of the interior injector pin marks will be covered by interior parts.i like the kit of what I have seen of it so far.Mike Ashey has a tape up review of this kit.this kit is bigger then the old monogram kit,so some of the scale is off.

      I wish I had one of the old monogram kits to compare it to. It would be interesting to see where its off.

      @@rutgaurxi7314 oh you need to crush that inter artist and add that inter engineer. Those injector pin marks are great anchor points,just a little dollep of testor tube glue or super glue will keep them in and hard against the fuselage

    Sooo...you gonna build it (future video)? I have a couple of Monogram B-24Js and I really don't see the advantage of replacing what I have. That's just me though. It's pretty much up to the modeler and what you're looking for. I think that a lot of the interior is excessive...cool, yes, but you won't see it. I hope that new decals become available for Pacific based Liberators such as, "Cocktail Hour ". Incidentally, I read that the main decal option in this kit (Witchcraft) is actually a B-24H, not a J.

    • @HammerheadModelMaking
      @HammerheadModelMaking  Місяць тому

      I'm not sure if I will at this point, its a pretty pricy kit and there are a fair number of inaccuracies (check the video comments to see some I missed) I definitely think it will look like a B-24 when its done, but the more I hear about how inaccurate it is the less I'm inclined to spend money on it. And, I heard the same thing about the Witchcraft Livery.

    I'm 50/ 50 on this, I think it would look really good, with parts like the engine in particular replaced with a 3D printed equivalent, and some photo etch, to bring out the cockpit details.
    But for the love of all that's Holy, cover up those injector pin marks whenever you manage to get round to this kit! At then my inner autist will stop it's rampage.

    For the price of this kit, there are a lot of scale issues, wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

      Do you mind pointing out a few of the scale issues, I'm not very familiar with B-24s, and wouldn't be able to identify them myself.

      @@HammerheadModelMaking you said in the video you did, primary issues are poorly design engines terrible super chargers, really bad raised panel lines rivers and no attempt to get the bomb bay doors correct, You can't tell on the model how they really opened, ordinance load not to scale, dihedral on Davis wing off. That's just a few. Hobby Boss kits are getting sloppy

    Soft details are not the only flaw of this kit.
    This kit has wrong geometry, which makes it useless for those guys who respect accuracy at least. Common story for Asian model kits producers, though... Asian lottery 50/50 good/shit ratio on kits present.

    • @pawpawstew
      @pawpawstew Місяць тому +2

      What's really funny is as the dimensions of these Chinese kits have been compared against the old Monogram kits of the 70s-80s, folks are finding in many cases, the old Monogram kits are actually more accurate in outline. If you're going to dump money into after-market stuff anyway, you might as well start with a more accurate and significantly less expensive Monogram molded kit. Just my two cents, for what it's worth.

      Not to mention the markings. The first scheme is for a H - B-24H 42-52534. Looking at other reviews online it appears that Sloppy Boss screwed the doggie with this release. Pity. 🙄

      @@HammerheadModelMaking that's the point that it can't in the digital era! :)
      In the era when all the survivors are in the museums where they can be scanned and measured to create a 3D-model.
      Misses just say about the company's attendance to the customers and to the technical history as a whole
      Asian manufacturers just don't care about it (excluding TamiGawa, may be and GWH now).
