    Your Skyhawk is Really Great! It's Refreshing to see somebody who takes the Clear parts of a kit and Actually Makes them
    Blend into the model!!! Windscreen Glued into place and Putty Fairing in the Seam!!! Most model builders (Not All) will Super Detail and paint a model and it looks Awesome!! Only to have the Clear Parts Slapped on! With NO concern about Working out
    How the Clear parts loook or fit! But You Take that Extra time!!!
    Keep up The awesome work!
    Thank You

      @@Big-Modeller Honestly if you really look close Many people do not prepare clear parts...Especially putting work out on You Tube for the Whole Modeling community to see...When I look at a model. I Look At Fundamentals: Part Alignment, Seam work,
      Canopy work, Paint, Weathering, Decals finally Extra detail...Which in itself has the Same Fundamentals...
      Yes No such thing as a Perfect Model....
      No matter How the model looks if a person is Pleased with it that's what counts..

    It is gorgeous! You’re a really talented person! I am myself working right now on the A-4B Skyhawk in 1/72 scale from Airfix Fighter Doubles series. Right now I’ve primed the fuselage with all the main components attached and waiting for a bit safer time to start airbrushing it (my working place is on the balcony and I’m living in Ukraine so all the rocket attacks make my hobby kinda dangerous). Thank you for the great idea of placing the ejection seat at the end of the working pipeline! I don’t know why I haven’t thought about it myself.

    As an ex-bomb loader, I would suggest the MK-82’s you loaded onto the MER’s have a yellow stripe on the nose if they were high explosive! But... if they were inert (as drop shapes or training munitions) they would have a light blue stripe! MER’s were multiple ejector racks and had six stations and TER’s were triple ejector racks that had three stations. Very Beautiful Build! I’m going to use some of your techniques on my next build. 😊

      Hey, Joe! Ex Navy AO here. You're absolutely right regarding the HE yellow stripe on those 500 pounders. Also I would add we never used the MERs onboard ship. My squadron had to bring the damn things and we spent half a day tying them up high on the hangar deck bulkhead before leaving the states, but they were never used in carrier launches. Best wishes.

    Nice build the only criticism l have for this kit is that it should have had separate leading edge slats instead of being molded into the wing . The slats were always in the open position on the ground . The only A-4 s that had the slots in the closed position were the ones flown by the Blue Angel birds and the slats were wired shut.

    Sir. Great model and very nice workmanship! I really enjoyed your video. I would like to offer you some advise for your next build. Your ordnance needs a little more work. For live bombs you need a yellow stripe at the front and the nose of the bomb is steel color. Your sidewinder should also have at least a silver tip to simulate the seeker head. Finally, although I cannot find a picture of this aircraft that you built, I believe that the air brake housing on the fuselage is the same color as the fuselage. I could be wrong about this, but most Skyhawks I saw with the air brake open the housing is the same color as the fuselage. I am sure someone will find a picture to the contrary. However, the door is indeed red on the inside. I am not criticizing your build it is VERY nice. Great job!

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the advice :)
      I must admit the bomb markings are pure magic to me. I painted them accordingly to the instructions. The nose of the bomb is steel, I treated it with the "dark steel" pigment, but I understand I could fail to show it on the movie properly.
      As for the sidewinder - you're right, I should try harder than to just paint it as the instructions suggested.
      As for the airbrakes... that was tough. I couldn't find a photo of this very plane which shows that detail. The instructions suggested to paint everything white, but I already knew that instructions in this model are garbage. I found lots of pictures with the fuselage part white and the exterior part red, and as many with both parts red. I had to flip a coin.
      I know this model is not a perfect one. I'm aware that some of my viewers know this machine perfectly and will find any mistake I made.
      I wish we have an actual A-4E in an aviation museum in my city, but unfortunately, we haven't.

      @Big-Modeller  4 роки тому

      I agree with that. I expected more from the model in 1:48 scale. Some elements looked like a 1:72 but bigger. But I must admit there were no bigger problems with parts fitting together.

    You did a very nice job, I just started on it and noticed that the panel lines were not recessed that much, did notice that as well do you think I should re-scribe the panel lines?

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  3 роки тому

      Hi :)
      I didn't re-scribe panel lines on this model. I don't like them to be very pronounced like in the Airfix sets. But you're right, I had a slight problem using the panel liner. It was hard to clean the wash so the paint stays in the crevice.
      As for your question - I don't know ;) It depends on how much work you want to put into this model. You may re-scribe panel lines, add riveting. You must decide for yourself what level of detailing will satisfy your need.

    Just found your channel, new friend and supporter here. I have a 1/48 scale A-4E from Revell that I built a couple years back, it turned out pretty nice but I am now building the Monogram Pro Series (Hasagawa) A-4F Blue Angels Skyhawk as part of my Aircraft of the Angels build series. Never seen Mark Fit before, is that a decal bonder solution?

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  3 роки тому +1

      Hi mate :)
      The Mark Fit is just a solution made for softening the decals. It won't glue or bond it, just dissolve the foil beneath the paint to make it fit into every crevice.
      As for A-4... I feel a strange urge to buy another model of this plane. One Sky Hawk in the collection is not enough ;).

    Nice build.
    But Hobby Boss mislead you in a few ways.
    First there are no yellow bands on the Mk.82s nose. The single yellow band indicates a live bomb/warhead (and a blue indicates an inert one). The double yellow band is the sign of the fireproof coating of the munition.
    Second: they never fitted in the forward inner stations of a MER (or the inner of a TER). You can see why, those bombs obstruct the main gear doors and thus the deployment of the main landing gear. Fully complemented MER were only used in the centerline hardpoint under the fuselage.
    Third: fro a live Sidewinder there should be a yellow band just forward from the first rail lock (indicates a live warhead) and a brown a little more further back where the yellow ring is in yours (indicates a live rocket motor).
    I really don't know how model manufacturers were unable to figure out these things. They still give us dumb markings or marking instructions. Shame on them. And they call those Sidewinders AIM-9B, while in reality those are AIM-9Ds (or G, or H, those had the same airframe). The B had shorter half spherical nose and smaller ailerons.

      @@Big-Modeller Other than that it looks like a decent kit. My biggest problem with it, that I have not enough space to build 1/48 scale models. (I'm quite out of space for 1/72 models too.)

My compliments. I build the Guillow's balsa & tissue WWI & II propeller aircraft not for flying but for scale appearances. A different type of construction than the plastic kits which feature such exquisite detail.

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  4 роки тому +1

      Ja kalki kładę tylko na wodę. Jak już jest w odpowiednim miejscu to daję warstwę Mark Fit i czekam chwilę (może z minutę). Potem nakładam kolejną warstwę. Staram się, żeby nie wysychało z 10 minut. W między czasie zdarza mi się przewałkować patyczkiem kosmetycznym wodę spod spodu tam gdzie są jakieś zakamarki w które kalka powinna wejść. Ot cała tajemnica.
      To jak długo trzeba się głaskać zależy od kalkomanii tak naprawdę. Jak są cieniutkie i delikatne to wystarczy raz namoczyć i poczekać. W tym modelu kalki były grube i twarde i musiałem nad nimi spędzić 5 dni w sumie, bo każdą trzeba było głaskać po 5 razy.

    Szkoda że nie pokazałeś jak pracujesz nad tym "śmietnikiem" z blaszanego pudełka, nawet kosztem dodatkowych 10 min oglądania (co dla nas jest przyjemnością). Pytania techniczne: ile czekasz zanim zaczniesz ścierać Panel Liner, czy aerograf to nadal TG130 ? Nie lepiej najpierw pomalować wnęki hamulców aerodynamicznych, podwozia i innych małych powierzchni-mniej obklejania później, czy ten cyjanoakryl szybko łapie? Nie boisz się że np, podwozie się krzywo przyklei ? Model ładny, fajnie wyszedł, Eduard jednak chyba robi lepsze detale w 1/72, ale za taka kabinę w 48-ce w XXI wieku HB powinien się trochę wstydzić, to że trzeba szukać po sieci informacji których brakuje w instrukcji, albo są błędne - także siara.

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  4 роки тому +1

      Cześć :)
      Pokazanie "śmietnika" to by nie było dodatkowe 10 minut tylko drugie tyle ;) Uznałem, że nie będę Was zanudzać bo ze "śmietnikiem" się robi to samo co i z resztą modelu.
      Przejdźmy do gradobicia pytań:
      - na paneliner czekałem do następnego dnia, bo ten Tamki mocno ciemnieje z czasem i chciałem być pewny że już się uspokoił ;)
      - aero to to samo co zawsze
      - wnęki hamulca mają taki kształt, że lepiej je obkleić taśmą z zewnątrz niż wypełniać od środka, więc zrobiłem tym razem odwrotnie niż zwykle. A wnęk podwozia nie musiałem maskować wcale bo są białe tak samo jak cały spód samolotu.
      - ten CA łapie w jakieś 10 sekund, spokojnie można wszystko ustawić zanim zwiąże
      - co do modelu, to mogliby się lepiej postarać, to fakt. Nie znam innych produktów tej firmy więc nie wiem czy to u nich norma czy wypadek przy pracy.

    Nice end result, but the Hasegawa A-4 Skyhawks are less expensive and are far superior in quality of plastic and detail. Leading edge slats should be in down position on the ground. Only Blue Angels had them bolted in the up position. Also noticed shape of nose is too narrow and dorsal hump is too wide. I guess this is typical Hobby Boss crap in their “inexpensive” line.
