Just bought a mature female yesterday. I'm surprised that she's not kicking hairs nor giving me a threat pose. The calmest Brachypelma imo. She's so nice and beautiful. Will now be one of my favorite tarantulas. 🙂 Edit: I will buy an adult male tomorrow. After 5 years in the hobby, this will be my first breeding project. So excited about it. Hoping for a successful breeding project.
Looking for an adult to buy from a safe source. This will be my first tarantula and I have been wanting one for a long time every since my son bought his rose hair back in 2007. She is the reason I learned to not be afraid of them and grew to love them. If you have any suggestions on where I can order one I would be grateful. This video was great for a beginner with all the information, thank you 😊
Sure thing Rene! I have list of dealers I recommend on my website and some of them even have discount codes available to save you a little money I have listed by their link. Check out my list here: www.thetarantulacollective.com/resources
@@tarantulacollective thank you so much for the information on where to shop, I am looking through them, hoping to find a mature one rather than a sling but not ruling anything out. 😊
One of my favorite Brachys. I had to get one when I babysat my friend's and saw how beautiful they are. I have 3 but they are still about an inch slings. :( Great stuff as always.
I got one (adult confirmed female) recently, two weeks ago, and she is an asshole, she kicks hair as soon as something sounds around... I love her! It's a lot of fun watching her hunt down the crickets and roaches as soon as she sense them. Also got a B. Emilia with her, also adult confirmed female. I hope to see one Emilia video soon as was a surprise I didn't saw it on your channel! This channel is pure awsomness, is kinda like an encyclopedia for tarantula hobbyists around the world (from Mexico here!). Thanks a lot!!
I have this species which I got as a sling. Every since it was a baby it would not take down this Cricket as soon as I put it in there. But once I close the lid and set it back on the Shelf I could check back in 1 minute and it would have it in its mouth. It seems to be a little shy. But it is growing into a beautiful t.
Just got my very first tarantula at a local reptile Expo not even 5 hours ago and managed to snag one of these gems. I saw the adult and wanted it so badly. I wasn't able to afford it but they had babies so naturally, I grabbed everything I could and am already super stoked to watch it grow. Been watching your vids for caring for babies and whatnot. Thanks so much for all the helpful information! Wanna have this beauty going for years to come!
I actually have a question, so I got my first Auratum. And I changed its enclosure. It has a strange mix of substrate including modeling moss (green dyed) so I am wondering what a good substrate mix is however because she is rather picky. Doesn't seem to like most mixes. Especially if it's damp or wet. What do you suggest?
I bought a juvenile Brachypelma Hamorii, its about 1-1,5cm long. I got jim in a small vivarium 15x30x20cm (dxwxh), and I am told to feed it about 3 crickets size 2 every week. is there any video online how to feed about 3 small crickets a time from a small container? last time i dumped carefully, but 10 went in the vivarium. is the feeding amount a week and size of the crickets ok?
I have a question about my Mexican flame knee. I got mine on the 5th of January and I love her. I tried to feed her the first week I got her but she wouldn’t eat, I figured maybe she’s getting used to her tank. I’ve tried feeding once a week since I got her and she hasn’t eaten. Shes 5 years old so im not super worried, I’d be more worried if she was a baby. I’ve never had tarantulas and she’s one of my first ones(I got 2 including her on the same day)so I don’t really understand everything yet. Could she maybe be going to molt soon and how long can they go without food? Please let me know😅
IDK if i made a comment on this video yet, but thank you. im fixing to get a red knee very soon and all this knowledge is amasing to learn. i mightve missed it, where can you buy one of those plexi glass habitats, or do yiu just make them? i know it idsn't hard to make one of those but... Hi Rich......another epic bid. I get depressed as they near the end. You mentioned a man named Schmidt as doing the first real field work on this species. Is that THE same Karl Schmidt by any chance? The guy who died from a boomslang bite?
Question: So, one of my super worms managed to escape from my tongs :( So it went inside the substrate and I can’t find it, it’s been 24 hours, my T doesn’t look like going into premolt any time soon since she molted 2 months ago. Should I look throughly? Meaning I will remove my T in order to find that sneaky worm. Thanks 💜
Did you find the worm? How big is your T? I remove uneaten feeders after 3 days, when the T isn't hungry. A missing worm is similar. If you can detect it on the sides of the enclosure, I'd dig it out. They can survive for quite a bit and in a worst case scenario, evolve into a beetle that could harm your T later on. I'd also recommend hitting up the arachnoboards - lots of experienced keepere there! :-)
Abysswalker Nop, I haven’t I fed her last Saturday so I’ll do it today. She’s 3 years old her she’s like...6 to 8 cm’ish and she’s a Brachypelma auratum. Hey Richard! And to anyone reading this, I just recently got a 2inch B. Auratum and the dealer rehoused it in the enclosure that I also bought from him. It's been hours since I got the T and I haven't seen it move nor change it's position, it's still crunched up in the top corner of the enclosure. My dealer said that it's just getting used to the enclosure, my concern is for how long will it take for the T to settle and if it's a good idea that I should put in a prey for it eat. Thanks guys!
Hey Richard, I have been watching your videos and love the info. that you give. Also, I love to make my own enclosures, so here is a question that I have for you: Can magnets be used to keep doors closed on Tarantula enclosures? Also, I am looking forward to your next video.

I would like to point out I have only saved these spiders from being smashed! My father in law kills any spiders he sees so I have thrown myself between his cane and the spiders I have saved! Lol he is really bad about them but I do have an egg sac within my jumping spiders enclosure!!! Love your videos man!!!
Auratum is the best brachypelma. Because it is a little more unpredictable and not calm.
I just got my first tarantula and it’s of this breed and I’m wondering what temperature to keep it at
Hi do they bite ?
Technically anything with a mouth can bite. But I've kept tarantulas for 22 years and have never been bitten.
Hey Richard, I have been watching your videos and love the info. that you give. Also, I love to make my own enclosures, so here is a question that I have for you: Can magnets be used to keep doors closed on Tarantula enclosures? Also, I am looking forward to your next video.
