Those hole drills are a pain. But they have slots on their sides that facilitate removal of chad. The guide bit has an allen screw to tighten it but more than likely his bit was too small (or he doesn't haven't an imperial allen set onboard.... can't have everything). Looks like a Milwaukee mandrel.
"She's got potential here"- Yes, she does Sam, and you better not let her get away either. "You did it- you're my hero". Sam- Saving the salmon, cheese and most importantly the beer matters. It wouldn't be an official Sam Holmes Sailing video without- Sam drilling another hole in his boat.
Awesome as always. And I'm going to now join, and relate to, many previous commenters who've mentioned viewing one of your vids was the best part of their day. For a few moments i forgot everything else and smiled ear to ear. Thank you for that. I can't wait to see you guys. Counting the days.
I have a Jet14. This summer I should get figured out how to sail, and I need to find a 30’-er worth paying to transport. I could definitely handle the warm sun for an extended sail, that’s for sure. It should fit my wanderlust.
Thanks for going over the mundane stuff for us with little or no sailing experience Sam. The life you are living is absolutely amazing, you definitely have things figured out.
I've seen some of this before. Its interesting for me as I went on a mates holiday to Corfu in 1988 where did did windsurfing lessons. We were told not to go beyond a buoy because we would be shot by the Albanian fortifications (15:37)! Its great things have opened up and you can freely travel to Albania now.
The stretch provided by nylon sure makes it good for anchor rode. Dock lines too. Once bought a used boat in NZ that had a polypropylene anchor rode (and chain). The cool thing about the poly is that it floats. So when there was no wind, and the line went slack, it would float, keeping it off the bottom, which kept it from getting fouled on rocks.
A Tomking TK140FC is a 36 CC 18 LB four cycle outboard motor. On shore, you can carry it around like an umbrella. It comes in 16 and 20 length transum reach. With modification, it can troll slowly, and should consume 5 oz of gas per hour. $200 USA price. The gasoline pours back in your bottle in a snap.
So much more fun to go exploring with a friend! This was a really fun video. Hope your holiday season is Merry and your Christmas stocking is flexible and contains a frying pan or two. Take care!🌲👍🤗🙏🏻🌟
Nice seeing a female onboard, Sam. And she's adorable AND classy as well. Beautiful sailing weather also makes this especially memorable. One more thing... time flies and as a 30 something its an issue you need to be thinking about.
Have been following u since Hawaii (your boat was moored 2 down from mine at the Ala Wai). Particularly love the tour of Europe . .. . Yikes, over the top adventure!
Sam.... take the hole saw off the bit... then pop the wood that gets stuck right out... easy peasy... great video,.. the food in those restaurants looks awesome.....stay out of the way of the hydrofoil ferries(lol),.... great to see you sailing with the wonderful crew. Merry Christmas and Happy New from Hebron and Mystic Connecticut.... Preston
This seems to be a rerun?... Seen you have to swim back to the motel for your stuff, seen you see Starlink satellites, and seen those cool rocks in the morning. Oh, and seen the turtle before.
It was written that way intentionally, as in rerun, rerun, rerun...ad infinitum. (So many people who don't understand sarcasm as a form of humour.) 😲@@Autobahn4537
I have to say. I just bought my first sailboat and there's no doubt it's because I've been watching your vids for two years now. Thank you! But one thing that cracked me up on this video is how you cracked up being called captain. And I've noticed other sailors laughing when called captain on the radio. And then my buddy who's a fire boat captain hates to be called skipper. In my humble opinion, any person in control of a vessel is the captain. Do you agree Captain Holmes? ;)
Greece has some sick local ferries. I've recently been to the south-eastern aegean and Dodekanisos Seaways is operating some 30kt non-fioling cat-ferries there. Booked a trip from Rohdes to Kalymnos - a very pleasant and scenic journey. Kinda regretted to not have gotten off at the 1st stop Chalki which looked like an awesome little harbor town.
One of the first times I've watched your video and been there before you, ha. I took the ferry from Sarande to Corfu about a year ago. Those bunkers are very much Albanian, there are 750,000 of them in the country. When you sail down to the Canary Islands you're going to see so many banana plantations, all weirdly fortified with twenty foot brick walls.
Great video.if you put a piece of cardboard on your hole saw while making the pilot hole you wont break bits.after pilot hole is made simply remove cardboard .grind hard had the same problem 😊
I think I travelled on a Flying Dolphin back in the 1980s, from Piraeus to Spetses. It was more expensive back then than a regular ferry, and allegedly supplied to the Greeks by the Soviets. But this may not be true. All I know is, hydrofoil boats are not as common as they should be. And, by the way, that lady is a gem and v special. Look after her, as my mother once said to me of my lovely wife.
Enjoy watching your videos, I have just recently found your channel,😊 I have kind of jumped around on your videos and know that you have a few different boats throughout your sailing experience. Is this boat the Cape Dory 28? I am looking at one ⛵️😎
From an old "Cheers" episode (to the tune of "When The Saints Go Marching In"): Albania, Albania, You border on the Adriatic Your terrain is very mountainous And your chief export is chrome.
Sorry.. thought you got an option to leave a comment after 😅 anyway really really inspiring.. hope to try to do something similar myself in next few years.. Now subscribed to you.. a boating magazine and going to get myself some RYA handbooks as a start 🤞
Glad to see your first mate back on board. Those rocks look like they've been carved. Nice variety of activities on board & shore. Good video Sam. BTW these adds you have to watch now before you see the video I'm not liking. Some you can skip but most you can't. Just saying.
Hey mate I keep watching your videos and I know you have tons of experience solo sailing and whatnot, do you have any book out to teach people with zero knowledge on what to have in your boat, tools, food, equipment, etc etc to go sailing long term? Also how to get visas, how to talk on the radio and when do u need it, how to get a docking, etc etc.. you should write a book about all sailing basics
I am so relieved, I have been feening for Sam to drill a hole in his boat!
😂

Feening, I've never seen that word before. It's kina like Jonesing. HA!!! 😎 Thanks
Merry Christmas Sam, have a couple of drinks on me for sharing your amazing life with us. Cheers

I’m sure he is getting his needs taken care of.
You two make a great couple, and it’s great to see you so happy!
"She's got potential here"- Yes, she does Sam, and you better not let her get away either.
"You did it- you're my hero". Sam- Saving the salmon, cheese and most importantly the beer matters.

ew
He drilled at least two on this trip ...
Coolest hair style on UA-cam boating by far !!

You two are adorable. :)
Yep she's nothing but class as well.
The folding in those rocks is awesome!! Indicates compression geologically. So cool.
Everything seems a bit brighter with Annaline along. You should write a song, Sam!
I adore her. I could not spend time with her like this without falling madly in love.
Definitely sailing in company is always best - good luck both enjoy your time together.
14:46 - swimmin' Sam - being the hero, like Tarzan:
"Don't worry, Jane - I'll get the goods."
Cool spotting those Starlink deployments.
Welcome back, Ann-Elin! Good to see you!
I agree she's adorable.

Beautiful.....simply Beautiful.....and the sailing part was enjoyable as well
I'm not sure how it gets any better than this video.
Cheetos and coffee for breakfast! You guys are living the life! Youth!
It’s never easy mate! But once it’s in…😎
Words of wisdom 🙌
The boat is definitely brighter when Ann-Elín is on board …😁👍🇨🇦
No doubt about that at all...

Thanks Sam.
Thanks for going over the mundane stuff for us with little or no sailing experience Sam. The life you are living is absolutely amazing, you definitely have things figured out.
It keeps getting better!
Love how excited you were about the hydrofoil, that was your DisneyLand 🙌
Dude. So cool. I think it's awesome you go everywhere on a sailboat. Experiencing things we only think about. Kudos!
2:00 it's old sovet union vessel "Метеор" (Meteor), many of them were sold when the soviet union broke up
I went to Albania for work a couple times in the 90’s. I remember reading that there were 70,000 bunkers were built.

Albania is gorgeous!! a little bit more south is Ksamil but if you keep going north you got Vlora Durres, Divjake some awesome anchorages !!
I'm having déjà vu watching this 14:32🤔 Ah... yes... I saw it before on the Ann-Elin Synes channel 😊
That's pretty excited

20:26 - "More cowbell... I gotta have more cowbell!"
She is so adorable ❤
Man, this looks like such a chill lifestyle...
Super video Sam. Thanks
NE Corfu is simply stunning.

Yea, she's back.
those slots down the sides if the hole saw are for a screwdriver to poke plugs out. :)

Yea I was thinking the quick change of plans in Turkey had to do with lady Elin. Be nice to her!
*The man with the Perma-smile.* 😁
Yay! Sailing is best with your partner along ❤⛵️
Sam. The village's name with cows where you stayed overnight is Qeparo. Vey nice and calm.
Always good to have extra anchors lol sorry Ryobi joke, good job Captain ✌️
Checking the map to make sure I remember where "The Bay" is, I realized that we were there in '86. Train from Paris to San Sebastian.
Nice to add improvements along your way enjoy the sails!
yea, went albania back in 2019 - lovely place!!! overlooked so much
Hey sam Nice place there and your lady friend has the most beautiful smiles. Merry Christmas to all of You God bless You.
Annaline does sterling work but please lead your mainsail hoist down to an ergonomic level via a block or winch.

Nice to see Ann-Elin again but too briefly! 😢
.49 seconds in. Best innuendo I've heard in a while.
Keep at it, Sam! Albania! Who woild have thought!?

You inspire me dude. I just want to take my boat and hit the high seas.
Sam, you run the pump in reverse and suck the air out of the boat the suck it down to fit it in the bag.
Thanks for the tip
Maybe you have to unscrew or twist the paddles of the ez dingy before pulling out? Usually it works like this...
I was just thinking I hope Sam post the video and look!!
I would like to see Sam and Ann sitting in a tree🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭 you guys look good together☺😉 and your sail trip was nice to🙂🙃🙂🙃
Sam she is a keeper. Can she stay longer this time?
Only one week this time
Good stuff
Love this

All these years I've been singing "Its chief export is grain." Thanks.
She is smoking Sam!!!!
Back to drilling holes into your boat. I missed it.
Your friend is adorable, hands on. What’s not to like.
That coastline is absolutely beautiful.
He's been doing it all along, just not videoing it.
Thanks
