    Credit card ripper

    • @garrettk7166
      @garrettk7166 5 років тому +14

      Naw. Not really. Just save up for the parts. Once you have enough put aside (which will either be incredibly quickly, or a moderately long amount of time), you can THEN go purchase what you need for building the pc. You can easily pay off the credit card after each purchase, since you've saved up the money. Not a ripper at all.
      One must never think of their credit card as an 'early purchase device'. If you do so, without having the $ to pay it off rapidly, you end up fucking over your future self by making THEM pay off your instant gratification. Save up. It's more worthwhile.

    I got Threadripper 1920X installed with 3x 1080Ti, not for gaming but for AI and deep learning research. The best of all, you don't have to worry the PCIe lanes, just plug in all GPUs and NVMes as much as you like, hassle free. But I recommend cooler with full size heat contact like one from Noctua, it makes a lot of difference in cooling performance.

Full coverage TR4 120mm air cooling beats universal AIOs by 10 to 20 degrees in every test I've seen with even temps across all cores versus the lower coverage with hot spots... Oh it's a Cooler Master sponsored build and they haven't come out with a full coverage TR4 cold plate!!!

    • @jackiePOGU
      @jackiePOGU 6 років тому +2

      The reason the larger AIO coolers are more efficient is because of the larger surface area, not due to the cores being evenly spread through out the dye. Linus isn't lying, the cores ARE in the middle.

    • @johnnyfromstovner1286
      @johnnyfromstovner1286 6 років тому +2

      This simple fact made me too wonder where this silly misinformation came from. Gamers Nexus has a few videos showing the actual inside and also has a video covering what kind of actual coverage those AIOs made for standard CPUs get on Threadripper and it ain't good. Pretty amateurishly done by Linus there.
      There is no defending this huge mistake, just take a look what there the actual dies are inside the CPU for yourself if you think that silly little AIO plate won't make it run way hotter than any cooler with full coverage.

    • @zeemon9623
      @zeemon9623 6 років тому +10

      Well, at least ASUS boards come with a little thingy that you can connect all the front panel thingies to and then put onto the board in one go, rather than plugging them all in individually. Also, these simple pins afford a great deal of compatibility, going so far as to allow a screwdriver to be used as a makeshift on/off switch. I like the flexibility that this gives case manufacturers and especially modders. And on a final note, my case comes with not only one, but two network activity LEDs, this means that if there were a standard front panel connector, it would have to come with not only switches for power and reset, a power and hard drive LED, but also two network LEDs and a chassis intrusion switch. I imagine that space is at a premium especially on ITX boards so a new connector would not only necessitate a good ten years of a transitional period where every case and/or motherboard comes with adaptors, but also waste space for no good reason other than saving a few seconds to assemble the system.

    • @jasoman3899

      @o.i. 6 років тому

      Even LTT has made a video on that recently, kinda. They compared some of Noctua's air coolers with some AIOs and the air coolers turned out to be more effective. The problem however is that the air coolers are pretty big compared to the AIOs and if you don't like the look of a huge chunk of metal on your CPU and have the money for it, an AIO or a custom loop might be the way to go.

    • @ffsolutions9442
      @ffsolutions9442 6 років тому +1

      That's true, and a valid point. Air vs AIO/water has been an old of a discussion with compelling arguments on both sides of the fence, but in this particular case I would say that with the added effectives, the Air coolers make more sense for the TR4.
