    Ground should stay connected with the power switch off. It'd defeat part of the purpose of a ground otherwise. That is the case should be grounded as soon as the unit is plugged in regardless of the state of the power switch.

    An awesome channel I calculated the price and its really good 4500-5000$ so not bad the only thing is that the gpu should be 500$ but it's more than a 1000$ so if you can wait you should because you can save up to 800$ if you wait for gpu prices to go down.

    Very good video.
    A couple og notes though. You installed the PSU upside-down. The fan needs air to cool it. This is a the verge-level mistake.
    The grounding part is questionable but not terribly wrong. There is no need to turn it on. The ground of the psu case is directy connected to the ground at the outlet. All you need to then is to use the psu chassis as a ground reference by touching it and the pc case simultanously. That would keep everything at the same electrical level.
    Otherwise good job.

    • @theTechNotice
      @theTechNotice  2 роки тому +2

      Actually the PSU can be installed both ways. The case doesn't have a solid top panel on top of the PSU so the PSU can take the air from the case and push it out from the back. That way it exhaust the 'warm' case air out from the back and cools the PSU down.

    Hi, very nice & informative videos.
    Is it is good to with AMD Threadripper 3960 (Zen 2) or RYZEN 5950X (Zen 3) for heavy workloads where the tasks (Molecular Dynamics simulations, Deep Learning, etc., will run for 2 - 3 days.
    For the above works, I choose to use RTX 3090 considering its vRAM, CUDA cores, Tensor cores.
    So, I have to use it 24/7.
    Can you suggest me whether I have to go with Threadripper 3960 or RYZEN 5950X

    • @michaelbyrd4004
      @michaelbyrd4004 2 роки тому +1

      The reason you would go with Threadripper, is either for more cores, more RAM, and or more PCI-e lanes. If a max of 16 cores, 24 PCI-e lanes, and 128GB RAM is enough for your requirements, then the 5950X is the one for you. If you need more than that, go with Threadripper. Seems in your case that your GPU is the more important consideration. If you need your machine to be a server as well, run virtual machines, process workloads and jobs from multiple clients, go with Threadripper. Your software system requirements should indicate the best machine components for the job.

    That's a nice system and good video. Just a little pointer though...
    I've seen a few of these tutorial videos and while they aim to help, they miss an absolutely crucial, and very required aid - at no point are we shown the applicable pages in the included manual. It's as if the manual never existed. The manual includes CRUCIAL additional info never mentioned in these videos. While it's always good to point out that mistakes can be easily made, the builder, for example, would never, ever have attached the front panel header to the motherboard USB header if they followed the manual.
    The proper video would be showing and discussing the relevant section in the manual - and at the same time, pointing this out on the motherboard while performing the build - and while this will add (only) a little extra video time, you should do this...unless you're recommending builders throw away their manuals?

    Hi guys, I bought a 3960X with RTX 3090 GPU 4 months ago. But I really need some help with the 3960X Threadripper.
    A couple of weeks ago, I moved to a new city and removed the GPU from the cabinet. After arrival, I did a bit of cleaning to remove the dust (very gently) in the fans & the cabinet. So, I disassembled the components (Motherboard, CPU liquid cooling, RAM, SSD) altogether and didn't touch any of these components.
    Then I reassembled it, but the system reaches 50 when connected to a monitor.
    Web surfing - temperature goes to 55 and sometimes even 60, 65/ 70 and keeps fluctuating.
    Previously, the temperature was between 45 - 50 while using 24 cores and the GPU.
    Any of the techies can help me to resolve the issue ???
    Thanks in advance

      Don't spread misinformation! I've been using the 3960, as used here, for getting on close to 2 years now (damn that was fast!). Its primary use is as a workstation, however, I do game on this too - I've rarely had an issue with any of the many games from my Steam, etc collection, and any that did cause issues was solved by putting the CPU it into 'Gaming Mode' via Ryzen Master (lowers the number of active cores). Additionally, any fps reduction is minor - Threadripper CPU's are binned for the best, so the 3960 shown here actually performs very close to the 3950X! Of course, don't buy a system like this just for gaming, lol.

    • @GGnooREE
      @GGnooREE 2 роки тому

      @@ChrisM541 it's not misinformation, it's fact. Literally have a 2080ti with a 2950x on my workstation and it's gets about 15 to 20 frames less than the other setup I had with an i7. While it rips through anything regarding editing or work related programs, if you play primarily games its not the best. Think about this, on cyberpunk I would get a dip of around 50-60 frames while the gamer build lowest it dipped to was 75-80. Those dips below 60 you can tell the difference. Just do your own research

    I just have to ask, what do you do for a living? I searched for your work footage or even a video reel and nothing. Do you just do this for fun with a ton of coin or are you a cinematographer? No offense really want to know how you recommend pc builds for workstations without seeing in depth workstation use. I have no doubt almost all of these builds (you’ve posted) will be more than adequate for average Joe video editing. I’m confused as to what you actually do because there is a ton of crucial information in these videos that isn’t being talked about for the “beginner” audience you’re more than likely catering to a , it is the most basic explanation of putting parts together and I have to add some of these vague statements, example “some thermal paste is conductive” is so incredibly vague and doesn’t give the watcher a way to understand what in the heck you just said. Thermal paste and liquid metal aren’t even in the same category. Honestly itwould just be great to tell people why you choose a certain part for what reason instead of buying all the components to make “a system”... work.
    Truly curious and hope I’m not coming across as inconsiderate; thank you man.
