I made this today! I followed the recipe except I added 2 heaping table spoons of brown sugar and I left off the hot peppers. It was soooo very good. Oh my goodness. Thank you for the post! Interesting though, many African Americans, particularly in Savannah, GA and South Carolina, fix a dish called red rice. It is so similar to your Jollof Rice! Perhaps that is proof of our common ancestry.
Chef Lola, THANK YOU!!!!! I cooked this yesterday and my family LOVED IT!!! I didnt add the pepper bc my family cant eat the hot peppers. Otherwise I followed the recipe directly. It came out SO GOOD!
This has to be the best looking jollof rice I've seen. I learned to make it while visiting Ghana many years ago. Most recipes are similar, but I especially like your version. I will definitely keep this recipe and at times will add seafood LOL. Thanks for explaining it so well. I subscribed to your channel.
Hello Auntie, yet again another outstanding recipe! 10/10 as per usual. I do have one question though, should I place the oil in the saucepan over a high heat or a medium-high heat?
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 That looks DELICI😋US Ms.Lola! I must make this! This is very similar to a savory rice dish we make in the south called, " red rice". This is "Gullah" Cooking! Thank you for making us this beautiful dish! 🌷🌷🌷
Yea, Queen you are right, both recipes look alike. I love red rice! We need to talk about this red rice. Can you please email me @ cheflola10@gmail.com
A little curry wouldn’t hurt dear. It makes a lot of difference in the taste. However if you like to avoid it, it’s perfectly okay...Thanks for your contribution. :)
Yes Mary, you can cook it with the rice cooker but you will need to make the sauce on the stove. Then you can transfer it to the rice cooker and continue with the rest of the process.
