Do you want to know how to install or replace an existing wireless router? This video shows you how to do both! Thank you for watching!
_I live in a 1500sqr ft townhome up and down apt. I do have Verizon 5G internet but the speed is not reliable at all, it's up and down! Very sluggish at the moment! I am supposed to have over a 1500 mbps, but mostly i get between 20 to 100 mbps only :( too much buffering! Sometimes (when there's less traffic) it may randomly reach upto 300 mbps maximum but thats very rare. Do you think a router or (a mesh) might help? If yes which one? I see too many options, it's confusing! All I need is smooth connection that covers upstairs and downstairs with super lightening speed possible, because at the moment all my security cameras indoor and outdoor are having issues with unreliable connection... Thanks_
@@seekfactsnotfiction9056 A mesh router might work best since you have upstairs and downstairs. Netgear makes some great mesh systems. I've done some videos on them as well. Good luck and keep me posted.
I’m about to try this tonight. Wish me luck!
@@jalenfarley9627 I wish you luck but you won't need any luck!!! Lol! Have fun and keep me posted if you have any questions or issues. Thank you for watching!
"Its kind of a security issue" does not help us understand why we would enable or disable WIFI protected setup.
I really appreciate your videos. Is there any way you can do an option video on router/WAP combos? I have a new construction pre-wired for something like ubiquity with WAPs in the ceiling so I don't see the point on having a traditional router when it'll be stuffed into my bedroom closet box, but I also don't need something as massive or feature intensive as the UDM pro. Would love any suggestions or any other options.
Glad you enjoy my video! I have a Netgear WAX630 AP in the center of my home. That AP is connected to my PoE Swith. The PoE switch is connected to my router. This setup works well because some IoT devices only use the 2.4 Ghz band and will not connect to the AP. So having the traditional router works well for your wired network and for an additional wireless option. I recommend a mid range router for your situation. Then buy a 8 port Layer 2 PoE managed switch your APs. Hope this helps. By the way I have probably 100 Home Networking Videos and I cover WAPs and Mesh and routers. Make sure to check them out. Thank you for watching and keep me posted.
Does it have wireless bridge mode I have super fast internet at home
I'm glad you show videos for, what some say, are simple things. Thank you. Unfortunately my cable system has a modem/router built into the cable box, so this isn't an option for me right now. I don't even know how to change the router name or password. Cable company gave it to me. My speeds are 6.1mbps download and 1.8mbps upload. Your speeds are amazing. I've never even hit 20, EVER. My max is 1gig. Obviously nowhere near that number. Cable said it must be my location. I live in a very small space. I know I'm getting screwed but I don't have patience to talk to them anymore (after 20+ calls)
After 20 calls I would have pulled my hair out!! Lol
Well I hope eventually it will get faster speeds. Thank you for watching!
@@UltimateTechHub I can't, I don't have much hair. Lol. Lost most of it in my 20's
@@dave_mac Lol
Is this Linksys compatible with a mesh setup if you have two of them?
Would u be able to connect two routers by just having them be plugged into a coaxial splitter. One being on the second floor( main one) and the other being downstairs by me. Where the coaxial cable and splitter are.
No that doesn't work. You need to set up 2 routers on 1 network. I have a video on that setup so make sure to check it out.
Any particular reason why you don't want to use Beamforming?
do you like the all in one router access point boxes? why not use pfsense?? why why more stuff you can do with it! still love your videos tho lol
I have a Netgear WAX630 AP so I only needed the router for the wired network. I will use the Linksys wireless for IoT devices only. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it!
How to use linksys e9450 to extend wifi from ISP router which is different brand
hi, i wonder how many devices this router can handle simultaneously?
need router that can handle around 50+ devices, not for heavy task, just for IOT devices such as lamp, CCTV, some mobile phone, laptop & TVs
Hi there , wireless signal wont suffer with the router being inside the box ? thanks
It can affect the signal in a large home. A smaller home should be fine. I keep my network panel door open to keep the panel cool. You've seen all my devices and they give off quite a bit of heat. So my signal is very strong. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
@@UltimateTechHub thank you.
How's the range on this one ?
It's pretty good. Covers around 2800 sqft.
how many URL address can be block? unlimited or what?
Probably unlimited. I use my DNS pi-hole to block URLs it just easier and more convenient.
@@UltimateTechHub thank you, because this is important feature for me 😁
Do yourself a favor and convert that Linksys router to an OpenWrt router. It's well worth it... I've got the Belkin one and it is fantastic
Thanks for the great idea. I really don't use the wireless network on this Linksys router. I have a Netgear WAX630 AP connected to my PoE switch. That AP gets 1 gig speeds. But I will take a look at converting the router. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
I wonder to know why this router is black? This router in China is white,is there any difference between these two colors?
Nope the color doesn't matter. I'm guessing it's a marketing thing. In America most routers are black. Every router I've bought has been black. Maybe in China they have white routers. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
What about advance setup
What kind of advanced setup? I have videos on port forwarding and custom DNS servers with a Pi-Hole.
What’s that white box? Am not tech savvy
That's a network panel. It's where all the home networking devices are connected. I have dozens of home networking videos so make sure to watch as many as you want. The videos should answer all your questions. Thank you for watching.
@@UltimateTechHub I got a question, my linksys router what benefit do I get from bridging vs not bridging forward from modem to router
@@CaptNemo_ The only reason to use bridge mode is to connect 2 routers on the same network. The router in bridge mode acts like a switch so it can't preform NAT or DHCP. It gets its IP addresses from the 1st router. If you have only 1 router do not use bridge mode.
what about cat 7 or 8
Cat 7 would be great but not necessary for my network since I only get 1 gig speeds. Cat 6 or Cat 6a works great.
@@UltimateTechHubok but how come I've seen an improvement from going from my cat 6 cable to cat 8 and I only pull 300mbs my networks more stable downloads are seemingly faster and all I changed was the cables from modem and routers to cat 8
@@adamconrad542 Probably because the bandwidth is higher. Glad your network is running fast and stable. My new router did the trick for me. Super fast downloads and quick internet connectivity.
@@UltimateTechHub my routers only 2 years old and it's a nighthawk so it's made for gaming and streaming
@@adamconrad542 your all good then!!
I share my wifi router I don't like passwords on any home internet
I have same wifi router hooked to my Netgear orbi LBR20 4G LTE
Use white zip ties
Yep or clear. All I had was black! :-(
What, no white zip ties? SMH I’m so OCD…LOL 🤷♂️
I thought the exact samething when I was installing the router. Don't worry i will swap out with white zip ties very soon!! OCD!! Thanks for watching!
Lol. good deal.
