This video is all about seeing up a Linksys Router Extension, in this case the RE7000 from Linksys. This method, the WPS method, is very easy and can easily be done by most people. Enjoy!
YOU ARE A GENIUS!!! I bought two different models of the Linksys extenders. Followed the instructions several times with no luck in getting them to set up on my wireless at home. Finally gave up and put them in a closet for a few years. Got a Roku for Christmas, but couldn't get it to work due to a weak signal. Decided to check UA-cam and found your video. Even though all of my Linksys items were different than what you featured, I still got both extenders to work perfectly in five minutes or less!! Got the Roku to work as well. The entire house now has a strong signal, even the rooms that used to have a weak signal or no signal at all. If I have any other issues, I now know where to go!! THANK YOU!!

The WPS method does not work. They are very close to each other, but it never connects and starts blinking orange. Also, I cannot connect to the Linksys wifi network, it says no internet connection! I read that you're not supposed to set them up so close together, because the wifi networks will interfere with each other. I tried further away and it still won't connect. I tried resetting the Linksys, no luck. I have also tried with an ethernet cable too! This thing is SO ANNOYING!! I hate it! 🤬
Might have been good to also show the web setup as when I setup mine, for some odd reason the WPS setup just didn't work.
I have a socket about 4 feet between my router and a wall & 7 feet from my console. Seems like a sweet spot for set up and use

My router also does not have a wps button. I spent 6 hours trying to alternate Browser base setup. I will call lynksys after this work week and give it another 6 hours. After that, I will take great joy in hammering my linksys extender. D link only from then on!

mine a 6300 never did get pure green but it stopped blinking and the network said it was working. . . . and then, it really wasn't working cause the wifi computer never got more than 3.8
You can't use WPS if you use Mac Filtering. Is it possible to turn of Mac Filtering connect the extender and then turn Mac Filtering back on?

How to setup the security settings?
Setup was simple, and it works, but it randomly drops signal. Any suggestions? It’s placed not far from router and when it works, it works good, but then it will drop signal to a device but still have a green light on the extender.
I have a Linksys CG7500 Modem/Router combo, will this extender work with this hardware?
Any other ways to make this work if your WPS or Reset button the work? Also, mine was a gift and i am not the first owner, does that really matter? Is there a better ways to make it work?

Are you able to get to and admin page on the extender and rename the SSID so it's exactly the same as the router?
This is technically possible, but you would want a Mesh WiFi setup if you really want the same SSID because they would not automatically hand you off to a better connection.

So I have watched this video and followed it 2 times. I get all the way to the end with a solid green light and both the 2.4g and 5g extensions show up. The problem is nothing will connect to the extensions. Please help.

That’s the same problem I’m having. Everything shows it’s connected, but can’t get in the internet with the Ext connection.
Hey dude, I have a extender like yours. And mine been working for a solid couple weeks, but all of a sudden it stopped wor3king, it disconnected. I followed the instructions and even followed your instructions but it doesn't reconnect, I pressed the reset button and everything. I just can't figure it. Know any tips to get it working again? Basically all that happens is both modem and extender blink Green many Tim's but never connect.

GeekSmart restart the router? You mean the modem?, I restarted the extender or at least pressed the button, but nothing, so no I gave t restarted the router,how do you do that?
+That Hooded Gamer not restart, reset. There should be a reset button on the back of the router that you push in for 10 seconds and it will reset back to factory settings. You will have to re-setup the router, but that might be what is causing the issue
What if you’re trying to connect the extender to an Xfinity router?
You hit the wps button on both the Netgear and Xfinity router then the extender

I can't extend the 5Ghz signal with the extender, it just fails and i see only the 2.4Ghz_ext . Is there a way to fix this?
Do I have to pair this with a lynksys router? I have a spectrum router trying to extend my spectrum wifi to my elderly neighbors house with this.
Bit of a different scenario for me, I'm in a dorm that already has multiple extenders throughout the building ( which is all concrete with steel doors). I DON'T have access to the router ( behind locked door), which means I can't use the WPS method. So if I have to set it up via WiFi method, is plugging in my extender close to dorm's extender the same as plugging in close to the router?

Thanks! The trick was having the extender sit right next to the router during setup. I originally thought "close" in the instructions could be in the next room, but they need to sit within a couple of feet of each other. Thanks for making that clear.

Nice video dude. I have the wrt 32x and my 2.4 and 5 ghz bands are combined. Will the range extender keep both bands combined or so I have to separate them?

I had to reset both my extenders (probably overkill, but I have a 2-story house with the router in the farthest front office upstairs, one extender downstairs almost within straight shot, then other extender behind opposite end of house) don't get the green light, but do see the ext. on my phone

What is The Password To The Extender Once its Setup?
Same passsword as the main
You never want to use a range extender. Range extenders cut your bandwidth because they cheap out and rebroadcast on the same channel they receive on. All range extenders are junk (unless I designed one, and then I'd do it right).
You want to setup a bridge connection, and then rebroadcast on a second channel with another access point.

Partial success with a Linksys RE 6800. My router is from AT&T U-verse. There are actually two routers. One large box called a 5268 AC and a small one called a wireless access point it is a VAP 2500. Both have WPS. I first tried the small wireless access point and it failed. I then only pushed the WPS on the larger modem and it had success to the slower speed but not to the 5G. When I tried a second time it continues to fail. The modem does have both frequencies. I see the NON 5G I am talking to you now on my iPad connected to 5G directly from the AT&T U-verse modem. I've attempted the alternative set up but my particular Linksys extender is not listed in the Linksys website. Very disappointing. Brand new from Cosco. Hope I have provided sufficient information for a solution. LOVE your video. Thanks very much.
What the shit is a WPS button? What does it do? There IS NO blue button on the back of an AT&T U-verse WiFi router and NO WPS indicator light on the front so what do I push? This video, like 99% of the videos on this subject ASSUME that the viewer is an internet professional with vast experience and knowledge of the internet, WiFi, computers, and probably the inner workings of the Space Shuttle. Why can't SOMEBODY make a f%#king video for the people like me who need it and have little or no technical knowledge? This video is of absolutely no use to those of us most likely to view it in hopes of the type of help certainly not provided herein. I wish I had more hands so I could give this video more that two thumbs down.
I don’t have my own router/modem, I have that all in one modem/router from Xfinity…I have the same LINKSYS extender and there’s no little button on the rear of the modem/router that I now have…can you please share a tip on how to connect (reconnect) it?

Can you connect to your router's original signal or do you have to connect to the additional two networks? If that's the case it's the same as adding another router to my network.

My extender is asking for a password, which is set at "admin" default, but won't let me connect when I type in password "admin"

Good tutorial.. but dude. Get to the point. No reason it should take you 11 minutes to explain a 2 minute process.
While this video was the clearest and the best description of how to set up this extender... the follow up is lacking. I am once again stuck because the router I have, that is new also does not have a WPS button so I am once again dead in the water.
I just change my internet provider and I now have the lastest router they carry and it doesn’t have a wps button. How can I connect if I don’t have Wps on my internet box
Thanks for posting this straight forward video. After following the instructions, I am able to connect to the Extender on my network but it doesn't appear to be secure and requires no password. I don't have the CD or anything. I am only using the WPS buttons to setup. Please help! Thanks!

Your demo was perfect. I got this extender brand new for free in my neighbourhood but nothing group and it had no box or instructions. Set up was a breeze because the online manual made no sense. Thank you for your help!

Why can’t you just show us? What do you have to keep talking about all kinds of things are repeating yourself? It’s very frustrating. Don’t you understand we’re trying to set this thing up and we don’t know how to do it? By the way I couldn’t find that button on my router that you’re talking about. I have a net gear router and it doesn’t have such a button in the back.
Not all routers have a physical button, some are in the software menu.
