I learned when I was 5 and rode to elementary school everyday. Even rode a 6ft giraffe to school a bunch of times. All the unicyclists I’ve ever met have been really nice! :)
Hey Ed, we haven't met but I have seen you on the road in the most alarming circumstances. You were on your Australian tour. I was driving back from a camping trip in SA when I came up behind a slow vehicle towing a big caravan. Seeing that the road ahead was clear of oncoming traffic I moved right to overtake the caravan. Just as I was beginning to pass the caravan moved across to the right as well! I was on the brakes big time to avoid a collision. Then I immediately saw why the van moved over. It was giving plenty of space to a unicyclist, wait, a freaking unicyclist!? Yep, that was you, heading south, somewhere north of Gladstone in SA. You had been obscured from my line of sight by the hulk of this box on wheels and they hadn't checked behind for passing traffic. Could have been tragic. Anyway, not at all applicable to riding a tandem uni. Keep doing what you are doing and stay safe out there.
Just found your channel, and boy does this bring back memories. There was 4 of us back in the day that built a pallet skatepark for our unicycles, and we went everywhere on those things.
Edit: especially cool seeing Jim, he taught me and my friends to unicycle Cool seeing u join the muni guys, I’ve ridden with several of them once or twice so it was nice seeing some familiar local faces.

I rode down HWY 1 ..santa cruz to LA in 4 days on a 2 wheel bike..I love the free down hill coasting/// Unicycling is a challenging and rewarding sport. ... Unicycles are direct drive, so it is impossible to coast. That means you are always pedaling, uphill and downhill, which adds up to a good workout.

I’ve watched you (uni-) cycle the world and never thought, “Take note some day you’ll be riding through China.” I have however marveled at times at the hospitality you’ve enjoyed and the warm reception you received at each new bend in the road. What I can imagine doing is riding ‘cross America. Yet, it’s in America I worry the coolest welcomes will be offered. (This episode make me feel a bit sheepish and question why I’m so pessimistic about what you’ll encounter in the US.) I am eager to see how you make out. I’m anxious to observe, through your lens and edit, how Americans compare to their brothers and sisters around the globe. Great work, Ed.

I just saw a road unicycle last week in Montague, Massachusetts. Man riding said he had gone 33 miles already with 15 more. Our roads, here in the Connecticut River valley, are cycling friendly but not nessicary all flat! Was a strange sight indeed!
First off I love that everyone is actually wearing all their safety gear. Second I didn't know you could do all that with a unicycle. I kind of like how it looks easier to fall on since you can just easily jump off.

Hey Ed! I started watching this and instantly recognized the redwoods. Chups (Chupacabra) is a great trail I have ridden many times in the past! What a coincidence
In Alabama we have a similar steep road and it is really fun to go down it. One time I was in my dad's 2012 Chevrolet Colorado and my mom was driving it and we driven the truck down the hill but we jump the hill at the same time.
The secret to riding the recumbent unicycle is probably to ride downhill and just maintain balance so that the pedalling isn't actually doing any work.
