Have a whole new level of respect for you. That uncorking was a hoot! And you owned it. Cool beans.
The “shit” after that uncorking was hilarious! Thanks so much for making these love the content!
The 2010 vintage was my college graduation gift. Like me, it was a tough year, but we prevailed.
Nice!
Did you already drink it? How was it? :)
When you drink it, you will smile
LOL - "I'm gonna blow the cork off this fancy wine and grab some chips." That's the kind of Master of Wine that I can respect.
Yes, my wife and I have enjoyed some amazing vintages of Dom in the last 32 years, the ones that stick out I’m my mind are the 2008, 1996 and the 1990, mostly we bought these to celebrate something very special.
Great vintages!
DITTO! Those are my top 3 vintages as well going back to my experience of DP back to 1988. I think my #4 would be the 2002 followed by the 2004. The 2008 is REDICULOUS!
@@ericreichenbach5480 I haven't had any of the 1990s vintages but the 2008 is my absolute favourite. The 2004 is also very nice and the 2012 is imo a great vintage. The 2010 was very disappointing.
I had the 1990 Dom Perignon after graduating from nursing school in 2004. Was an amazing wine full of vibrant acidity, creamy notes on the palate, brioche, peaches, pears, honey crisp apple and a superb bubble line.
LOL that bottle opening sequence was great!
As a waiter, I was giggling as you were handling the bottle. "This isn't going to end well", was my exact thought. Love that you owned it. I guess that's the real difference between a Somm and a Master of Wine. I haven't had Dom since the mid 90s. Guests never like giving tastes of it when i do serve it unfortunately.
A few days ago my dad and I found this exact bottle while clearing up his basement but from the 1975 vintage! It's still in its original box, so we don't know the state of the bottle yet, but I thought it was funny to find this video right after our little surprise!
Looking at prices if its in good shape thats either a once in a lifetime tasting or an easy couple thousand
If it was stored upright it is basically worthless. If it was stored correctly on its side it could be worth several thousand.
Salty crisps with any champagne is an absolute winner. Good shout.
I just opened the 1st out of 2 bottles of 2010 that I have. It was pretty amazing. I honestly loved it more than 2008. I can’t wait to taste my other bottle
Thanks Konstantin! I’m a recent subscriber working through your back catalogue. Your “keeping it real” bottle opening sums up what I love about your channel. I’ve a few ‘08s and ‘10s cellared, and look forward to enjoying one day in the future.
"I saved most of the champagne so we are good"😂
Love the positive outlook on life, always seeing the glass half full
1976 Dom Perignon out of magnum tasted sometime around 1990. It was magical and one of those wines that turned me towards wine geekdom.
Having watched a number of KB's more recent videos, watching how smooth and distinguished he was in this one has to bring a smile to fans of KB, not to mention KB himself. 🤣
Yes, I have had Dom Perignon and its pretty easy to tell you my favourite vintage because I only had one so far which was 2003 and I really liked it!
Thanks again for this video and I am really looking forward see what you are going to taste next time!
Thanks for sharing!!
I was lucky enough to have lunch with Richard Geoffroy and he told me 2003 was the vintage he was most proud of. It was almost never declared at all, apparantly. We were drinking a 2006 at the time which I absolutely love. But yes, the taut, muscular and serious 2008 which I drank for my wedding aniiversary last year is in another league to many of the recent releases.
By the way loving the channel. Minerality was fascinating, and brought to mind pencil lead as a descriptor. Graphite is odourless, too...
Keep up the good work.
Can't Wait To Taste Dom Perignon Champagne! It's About$400 A Bottle Here In Melbourne Victoria Australia!🍾🥂🇫🇷
Great info on Dom. Never had it but will one day.
You should!
Was für ein Privileg, solch tolle Weine probieren zu dürfen! Hatte bisher nur 1x das Vergnügen. Zu meiner Hochzeit gab's den 2005er, welcher für mich einfach nur herrlich war.
My friend surprised me with a bottle of Dom Perignon vintage 2010 delivered this afternoon for my birthday which is tomorrow. Sorry it doesn't match up with previous vintages, but I'm not a wine connoisseur so I probably won't notice. Thanks for the review. All I need now is a bag of Kettle chips and perhaps some cheese.
Happy birthday and enjoy the wine!
You have amazing reviews!!!! Absolutely love your channel
My Wife and I get a bottle or two every year to celebrate the season and changing year. We like to try the new vintages. I'm looking forward to the new year of 2010 in our own taste testing. It's hard to pick one year over another, but so far 1995 was my favorite vintage.
95 was very good!
1982. I was lucky enough to come across one of these. Most memorable.
Lol love the opening part! Great video as always
It'll be very interesting to try the 08 Dom Perignon along with P2, and P3 when it comes out.
I agree!
Had the 2003 vintage. Found it very dry. For that price range, I would choose Krug any time.
Definitely the 2008 is amazing and my favorite so far. I still have a magnum and believe this could be the year to have it, say round Christmas.
I’ve had one of these. Wasn’t bad but I mixed it with blackcurrant to give it a twist. Much nicer after that!
lol
A suggestion for a video: Konstantin Baum 100 point rated wines👍
Yes I have tasted The Dom. It was a 1973 vintage. To this day, for me, it was the best champagne I have ever drank. I use to consider this magnificent champagne as "The Closer"!!
my friend if I buy this bottle online do I drink it right away or save it ? and is it stored in the refrigerator or where?
Save it for an extra special moment or person, no matter how long it takes.
@@Wreckohnize
In the older movies 007 used to drink Bollinger.................a very English champagne my dear boy. 😉
Yes, have tasted Dom P. My favorites are the P2 2002, Rose 2008 and fruit driven 2012
Very lucky to have been to the winery a few times to include tastings at the famous Abbey d'Hautvillers (take a walk through that private entrance 'gate'). #P2 Rosé !!!
I am really enjoying your videos, I would love to see one on Cult Cali, Sine Qua Non, Harlan, bond, Lokoya, Scarecrow, Screaming Eagle
I love the Champagne glasses, I use mine for Franciacorta, Italy’s Champagne.
Franciacorta can be great too.
OMG Bust out laughing with the premature eCORKulation “shit”. Good to know even sommeliers are human 😂🍾
dude: you are a warrior, cork goes off, bubbly everywhere and your first word out is "shit" love it! I was fortunate to have had 4 bottles of the 1986 vintage at my wedding, I remember the wine vividly...cant say the same about my ex wife lolol On a side note I had the '88 vintage on my 10th wedding anniversary and it was not good, I think it was very poorly stored before I purchased it...total let down. Keep the videos coming.
lmao
Tried the 2008 vintage during a visit to Möet & Chandon in Épernay - it was very good👍
The 2008 was great!
Funny thing , my friend came to my last birthday party and brought 2010 Dom and it was great. So I went to a local store and noticed they had 2008 Dom so I bought 2 bottles and wow so much better than the 2010. Ended up buying 3 more of the 2008
2008 was great!
I just opened a 2010 2 weeks ago and it was amazing. I liked it more than the 2008. By a hair lol
@@keithspeller5620 glad you enjoyed it
A perfect recap of your complex emotions at 7:37 "shit" .
😅
My favourite Dom Pérignon vintages are 1990, 1996 and 2008. I also like the 1995 and 2002 vintages.
These are all great vintages
I’m stunned to hear “MANGO” flavors you talked about 😮…it’s a tropical fruit 🥭
This is my first vintage and will be opening it for the holidays. I'll definitely hunt for that 2008.
I’ve been drinking different vintages through out the year with my father, but my favorites are the 1990 & 1998🥂💗
The best Dom Perignon I had was a 1996 oenotheque, followed by a original 1996. And then 1995 Oenotheque, then 1995 original. But there are variations among bottles.
I totally agree, best I´ve had so far are the 1996´s you mention, the 1996 rose was out of this world amazing and beautiful and on at totally different level than the normal vintages and I can afterwards understand the price difference, I did drink most of my 1996´s too young, but it was kind of unresistable, but have stocked up on 2008 not to be in the same situation, cheers
good to see you didn't edit the opening out of the video. Even the greatest sommelier's would have to admit to moments like these if they were truely honest. Great Video, I would love to see some great grower champagnes like Egly, Selosse, Prevost, Vouette Sorbee etc cheers
Great video Konstantin, thanks - My favourite Dom Perignon so far has been the 1996
I also have had the 2010 vintage. Honestly I was pretty disappointed. I have had a lot of bubbles and have drank many that seemed comparable for less than half the cost. After hearing the review I have become skeptical to if it was just this vintage that was disappointing or if every year is similar to the 2010 vintage. Overall, not the best value, but that’s not why you buy Dom anyways.
sick channel love your intro/music
Perfect video.
Really love Dom perignon! The only thing I dislike it’s the avenues they use to market it sometimes it really upsets me to see such a quality crafted product being poured on the floor in rap videos as a way of boasting wealth.
I agree.
I agree. Same with Louis Roederer Cristal.
@@Adrian802 yes it is a real shame and very sad to see
@@southwest3369 I only bought the 08 Dom Perignon is because I want to open it when the P2, and P3 comes out down the road.
@@Adrian802 sounds like a great idea, I had the 1998 P2 last weekend for my daughters congratulatory gathering she has just got a job at Rolls-Royce defence aerospace!
Found this vintage at my local Target retailer...just one sitting on the shelf....people were quite intrigued about the purchase.
How much was it?
@@KonstantinBaumMasterofWine with tax around slightly over USD $200 other places a bit under.
I tried Dom Perignon once in 1988. I don't remember what the vintage was but I can say it was a life changing experience!
😂😂😂 this was absolutely hilarious.
I like 2006 its much vital and deeper taste than all the vintages after 2002 😊
The 2010 is excellent! Maybe not perfect but thoroughly enjoyable.
I agree!
That was great. Very amusing!
Glad you liked it!
Pop Culture: Let's not forget the Vintage 2265 (yes, yes) of Dom Perignon, which is used to christen the »USS Enterprise-B« in »Star Trek: VII«. Not sure how it would taste though. Yes, I'm a nerd too.
Is it possible to illuminate the background music and the clicking. It’s interfering with hearing your voice. Thank you for a wonderful review!
Funny wine opening! I‘ve never had one. I only know that I don‘t like Moet Chandon so probably I‘m not missing much with this one.
it's like saying that you don't like driving FIAT cars so most likely you won't like driving a Ferrari!!
Hello very good video
Sorry, what is the price of a 1985 Dom Perignon?
Thanks. On Wine Searcher it is between 350 and 400 Euros.
I have a 2008 bottle waiting for me in my cellar. I hope to drink it soon. This video made me quite currious! For now, I will explore some lobster recipes…☺️
The 2008 is great!
Eating a bag of chips with your Don Peringon like is a raper level flex.
I have a problem with the LVMH champagnes in general, since for me it is not transparent at all what is in their Champagnes and makes them different, Dom Perignon, Moet&Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Krug and Ruinart are all taken from the LVMH vineyards. It’s line a black box with great marketing efforts, as always with LVMH products.
Haha. Best video you've ever done. Chapeau
Thanks
88 DP Rose was the best champagne I’ve had by a wide margin. ROTFLMAO at your opening, that was AWESOME 👏 😂
I'm afraid Dom Perignon is just a tad out of my price range, but I'm looking forward to seeing a video about decanting sometime (or have you already made one?).
At the current rates, most high end champagne has about doubled in price since this video, so about mid 2020.
I wouldn't buy a bottle of Dom Perignon now for more than 280$/250€ including fees and shipping, as they still produce gigantic quantities (As Konstantin states in the video, millions of bottles per vintage, and costs definitely haven't doubled for LVMH, the largest concern in the area but rather demand in East Asia has exploded sending prices rocketing).
Get a Bollinger Grande Annee for 150€ or perhaps a LP Grand Siecle 25/26 for 150€
Do you have any ideas as to where I could find dom in the states for a reasonable price? It is usually between $220 and $250 at wine stores here
Come to Germany! ;)
Hey Konstantin ............which do you prefer this Dom.......or the 2012 Kristal ? ?....................I seem to prefer wines that do not receive any malo
The 12 Cristal
Amazing! Cheers
1998 vintage Rose was very good for a 20+ years old Champagne.
Perignon is a good champagne. However, I've come to enjoy the growers more and more, like:
Jérôme Prevost: La Closerie
Henriet-Bazin: Blanc de Blancs
Benoît Lahaye: Blanc de Noirs
Diebolt-Valois: Fleur de Passion
Mailly. Exception Blanche
Margeut: Elements
Emmanuel Brochet: Le Mont Benoit
If I had to choos, I would prefer them over Dom Perignon anytime.
There are some amazing grower Champagnes!
I had a DP which provided mushroom, earthy flavours and the most incredible bubbles I've ever experienced...maybe early 2000's
Danke!
Thank you very much!
Favourite vintage I tried was the 1996😍
Oh no, I just ordered the 2010 for my birthday. Should I cancel it??
If you can find a 2009 or 2008 then rather go for that.
New years day morning 2000, drank a magnum of 1990 DP in bed with then girlfriend whilst watching an Attenborough Marathon. Probably my #1 Champagne moment ever, definitely top 3.
Sounds great!
Please review Veuve Clicquot Grande Dame.
Hey Konstantin! How many Euros did you spend on the chips? ;-) I have never tried Dom Perignon but live in a state in Australia that drinks more French Wine per capita than any other state. This is possibly the best champagne video I have seen on the 'tubes. I have made all of the mistakes you did in the video and more but console myself by saying they were cheaper bottles. Would you mind doing a Blanc de Blancs horizontal tasting please? Cheers!
As always some great infos here! In your opinion, which country can get as close as champagne regading to style and taste? Obvoiously, champagne is unique, and I know about that, but just trying to get some good stuff in a budget, because chmampagnes are very expensive where i live. Maybe some cavas from spain? What about portugal.....i had some good experiences with sparklings from portugal (bruto). Keep up the good work Konstantin! Cheers
I've tasted Dom Perignon 2008 & 2009. The 2008 really was heaven on earth. Unfortenately I didn't knew at the time it would be unparalleled for many vintages to come. The 2009 however wasn't worth the money. It was too grassy, too much lemon and nowhere near the 2008. Now i'm hesitating to buy 2012 because it is also a decent champagne vintage, yet prices have gone up quite much. I've tasted Bollinger La Grande Année 2012... it was decent, yet not to that extent as the 2008 DP.
How about Perrier-Jouët & Krug to round it out? Can you add that to your list? I really appreciate style vid.
I will do that
Unfortunately you opened it wrong… the seal needs to be left on and you just unscrew the actual bottle whilst holding the top on. The cork needs to GENTLY be eased off so you just hear a slight hiss and NOT a loud pop… the seal will then also pop off automatically once the cork is popped.
I really like how the 2010 shows such a drinkability already yet it remains precise, solid and dry on the palate. The tropical fruits are there in the glass like you expect from DP, such as pineapple, white peach, and mango, not to mention the pie crust and bread dough. Yet it’s linear and finely textured with a brightness and vividness.
Yes, I know... I was careless.
@@KonstantinBaumMasterofWine :-D
Approximately how long can you keep these in a climate cabinet?
Champagne can age for decades. The 2010 is probably not the vintage that will age the longest though.
Best German humor :)!
about to invest in dom perignon. is it better to buy the vintage 2008 than the 2010 ?
2008 for sure!
2008
My 74th birthday is on 15 September this year........and I will pull out my cellar a 1996 Dom..........hope it stands up ok
Great vintage!
I bought a bottle of Dom Perignon 1980 for £20 . Back in 1995. I kept it until the birth of my first child in 1997. I saw it in our local paper and immediately drove to his house to pick it up. He told me he wanted the money for fags.
We didn’t really appreciate what we were drinking, it just tasted like nice champagne. Was 1980 special ? . . . I don’t know . I’ve still got the bottle on the sideboard with the date of opening written on it.
Try it with fish and chips ,
digger, du bist so sympathisch!
Danke!
Is it a good B-day gift? Pls let me know😭
Yes, but you can find better champagnes for less.
Hey Konstantin, do you think the 2012 is worth buying? I'm contemplating on buying it! Thanks
Yes, it is very good

1971 is amazing
I wanted to say thank you for your channel, I love the combination of light hearted approach and truly detailed tasting notes and description. Maybe one day we can open a bottle of something good. My love is champagne please do more champagne, vintage UA-cam sessions. Last year was my 50th birthday, hence the 1971 Dom Perignon. I actually tried both the 1971 P3, and a 1971 P1, both extraordinary champagnes the providence of the P1 1971 was outstanding, actually had a better effervescence, texture, structure and overall experience. It was a special day to have two 1971 Dom Perignon’s back to back. Again thank you for your UA-cam channel
I'm here because of Champagne problems of Taylor Swift
I really like this video and your style of presentation, thanks, and will for sure follow you in future. Having that said, RP dosen't know a KRUG from a cheap Cava, and I think 91 points is way off. I'm really interested in your evaluation of other Dom P's since this very very (in my opinion) low score for the '10. I agree that '10 is not a great vintage in Champagne, but try Deutz Hommage '10 which represents the full expression of a difficult year pushing everything to the limit. What's you preferences of absolutely best Champagnes if I may ask :-)
Thanks. How many points would you give? I love Krug, really liked the 08 Dom P and I am open to very different styles. Just did not think that the 10 was as great as many of the previous vintages.
@@KonstantinBaumMasterofWine I agree Dom P 2010 is not the greatest but still among the most complex and beautiful wines, and I think no Dom P is less than 95. The first sip is never the same as the last, and the stony, gun smoke, creaminess is like only e.g. Deutz William and Taittinger Comes, I truly love the reductive style, unfortunately is not cheap, but in my opinion no other wine does it for me as great Champagne :-) Keep posting videos
lol shit!! love it subbed love your humour mate bit like us on the island across the river
