It might be worth it to try a different device for the mic tests.
One of my coworkers got the Beans for free with his phone, and got that phone free with his phone plan. For free dirty buds, the beans are truly exceptional.
My choice for buds like this are the Sony link buds. They with great for being so work, I'm even using them right now. I've seen them as low as 60 bucks new on eBay, which is a steal for them. Best used with adjustments created by auto eq.
Completely agree with you. Bought the linkbuds so I could listen to music on my bicycle without reducing my awareness of my surroundings. The first time I wore them instead of the in ears I used before I was amazed by what I could hear, I could even hear my watch band jingling when I went over a small bump in the road.
In the world of "open back" TWS buds, my Oladance Wearable Stereos (which have a very Chinese designer-y name) are pretty excellent- better than the Sony LinkBuds TBH. Worth checking out if it's what you need! Far from perfect, but better than you think
Speaking of the AirPods Pro 2, I have them and the new ANC is crazy and also somehow they managed to improve the already legendary Transparency mode lol
I LOVE my beans! The noise cancelling works great for white noises such as idle trucks, traffic noise. Don't expect isolated noise cancelling. It removes and quiets down there outside world without completely detaching you.
We have surface laptops for work and we had a choice between the surface headphones and surface buds, I picked the buds. I don't have the hissing problem when I connect them to my work laptop But what I connect them to my phone or another computer they hiss then!! 😂 I think they just get mad when you make them talk to non-microsoft products. And yeah I've listened to teams meetings were I'm talking and I sound worse than anyone else. They are super comfortable though so I don't really regret my choice. I can wear them all day without my ears feeling gummy or my head hurting.
Interesting new earbuds dropped recently, the soundcore VR P10. It's supposed to be super low latency earbuds for the quest 2 VR headset and it comes with it's own dongle. I'd love to see you do a review on them even if you don't use vr. It comes with bluetooth as well and I'd love to see what happens if you stick the dongle in a PC or mac or phone even though it's intended for a vr headset.
You can see someone in Starbucks now, working with a surface laptop, wearing surface bud and code using ms vscode and google using ms edge, while wearing a ms holo lens... It's truly an all Microsoft experience 😂
9:40 What's funny is, if you're a huge Windows/Microsoft guy, this is just taken for granted, there is no consideration for worrying about compatibility. It just is compatible.
I'm glad you reviewed these lol. I was an early adopter of them. Got them on release. For the most part, I do really like them. I agree with basically everything; except the buzz. I don't have buzz. But the case. If you give the case a 1/10, I'm going 0/10. I hate the case more than I've ever hated anything. Lately, when I slot the right ear bud in, it blinks red. Now, according to the manual, that means ERROR. WHAT ERROR? Are the pins not lined up? is the battery dead? No idea. When it happens, I usually have to shuffle it around for minutes at a time. Eventually, it will work. I have no idea what the problem is. I thought maybe I somehow greased one of the charging pads with either sweat (i wear them during workouts) or earwax. I've cleaned it thoroughly. No idea. I hate it SO much. For the people that ask, I got them early due to the comfort aspect. I can't wear most earbuds. But when you learn how to lock these things into your ear (and there is a learning curve), they are so comfortable.
Hey there, sorry to bother. I have a dying set of Bose quiet comfort 25's that need replacing, and after seeing your comment found the discounted Bose 700 for 170 on another site, what do you think if them?
@@bendoesmtb the noise cancelling is really good. Better then the sony wh1000xm3 ive had before but havent compared to the xm4 or 5 which i know are highly rated. Headphones have a great seal around them so even passive they block a lot of sound. There's 10 levels of noise cancelling. The headband is a single piece of metal and as a have a large head I do find the clamping of my ears is a little firm. I'm hoping this will give a little after I've worn them for a bit. Touch controls are nice and accurate. Build quality wise they do feel a little more fragile than my old Sony's which I used to always just throw about. These go into their hardcase after every use. Sound quality wise, they arent 350 quid headphones. I'd go for the xm4's if I wanted to pay North of 300 but if you can get them for less than 200, they are great. Bass is punchy without being woofy. Mids are strong but with some higher frequencies I've found to be a little over bearing on some early 2000 trance/dance songs but modern pop and soft rock (greenday etc) they sound great. Really good for films aswell, not quite as good as my DT770 80ohm but I can walk around without dangling 10ft of cable and a DAC.

I gotta say I quite like my Beans. I wear them when I'm out riding my bicycle, and find that they let me be aware of traffic. Especially the cars that sneaks up behind me. The noise cancelling is for sure not the best, but I've used it in a pinch on airplanes, and they are definitely better than nothing. And if you jam them in there good, they actually filter out a good amount of airplane noise. But of course, they got nothing on a pair of good earphones with noise cancelling.
I’m just questioning myself how I would get these out the case without destroying my manicure 😂 Man, I love how simple yet effective my dirty buds on stilts are!
Okay not gonna lie. The moment I heard that "crunchy" audio from the mic from the Microsoft earbuds, it sounded like either a zoom business call or Windows 2000's Skype calls. I'm not kidding, sounded like we went back to nostalgia.
I picked up the “beans” brand new sealed for $50 on Facebook. I will say they are THE BEST $50 I spent, but I wouldn’t pay a penny more. It’s incredibly convenient, but decent audio with stellar noise cancellation (for what they are) and a damn near bulletproof case. They also have the best battery life I’ve seen so far (in my experience which is limited)

The few moments of silence at the start of your videos always make me freak out and think my headphones are broken... despite the fact I usually have other noise playing through them at the same time.
About that Toshiba laptop - these have a CMOS (time backup) battery in them that leaks and ruins them. I haven’t seen the extra videos (I’ve gotta get in supporting you!) but you’ve really got to get that battery out if you’re planning on keeping it running.
Dankpods rambling about earphones makes me happy for some reason.
What I really want to see is non-eartip high end earbuds, like properly, with removable iem style cables. I got the kaybees and while they sound phenomenal, I miss the apple dingus earpod fit.
Or better yet, swappable tips that can go right on a normal IEM rubber tip barb.
Probably not exactly what you want but flathead IEMs do exist with removable cable like the TRN EMA or EMX
@@Melon-ny2cl FUCK, that's exactly the sort of thing I wanted, I had no clue these existed! Shit!
thanks for telling me, but also, FUCK I already spent money!
@@Melon-ny2cl actually, do you know of any other models? I may have blown my audio budget for fall already, but I want to shop around for my winter budget. But I'm running into the same issue as when I first looked for some earbuds, cause none of hte search terms are working
@@Melon-ny2cl now I'm finding something called "half in-ear" which looks interesting, but I still can't find any being reliably sold. super lost here lol
Your videos got me thruu school.
Love your channel.
Even if you don't commet on my commet or like. (dank pods)
Still love your channel.
6:51 do you mean 'spray on shoes' from cloudy with a chance of meatballs?
Hey, I had that exact Toshiba laptop up and running until a year ago. Was serving as a music player in my workshop and was doing just fine. You gotta love the 98 boot sound!
There might be an issue with windows when you use wireless earbuds sometimes they are put as hands free, and you get that static and in general lower quality audio because windows reserves badwidth for audio in. So it is cut in half but i also causes a feedback loop of data so hissing can be heard
people: active noise cancellation
dankpods: artificial silence
Try the surface headphones 2. The controls are second to none! Love the dials!
I saw DankPods posted, clicked on the video, sat through the ads, and watched for 2 minutes before even seeing what the video was about. That's how you know, man.
Dankman is cranking out the uploads and I'm digging it
You're the reason I spent my allowance on DT770 Pros. Thank you for everything.
I actually think iPhones Bluetooth is a little wonky. I had made a voice recording for a review of a cheap ($30) headset that sounded like it was wired. Also, just made a voice recording on my current Jlabs, I think $50, sounds wired. First recording was on a Galaxy S9 2 years ago and current phone is S21. It might be worth it to try a different device for the mic tests.
"They look like crocs!"
They are the crocbuds!
One of my coworkers got the Beans for free with his phone, and got that phone free with his phone plan.
For free dirty buds, the beans are truly exceptional.
As someone who loves to follow tech news and watch videos about headphones and such, I had absolutely no idea these existed 💀
You have no idea how much I was looking forward to this video
In the world of "open back" TWS buds, my Oladance Wearable Stereos (which have a very Chinese designer-y name) are pretty excellent- better than the Sony LinkBuds TBH. Worth checking out if it's what you need! Far from perfect, but better than you think
Yes! The sounds is very nice and super comfortable
Speaking of the AirPods Pro 2, I have them and the new ANC is crazy and also somehow they managed to improve the already legendary Transparency mode lol
00:30 I just realized the beans look like amongus
Accurate
I LOVE my beans! The noise cancelling works great for white noises such as idle trucks, traffic noise. Don't expect isolated noise cancelling. It removes and quiets down there outside world without completely detaching you.
3:53 " *garbolium* " 💀
Write that down Write that down we need to research this new material to make it worse next generation
Tbh earbuds that don't have the in-ear cushion just make my ears hurt because of the hard plastic.
We have surface laptops for work and we had a choice between the surface headphones and surface buds, I picked the buds.
I don't have the hissing problem when I connect them to my work laptop
But what I connect them to my phone or another computer they hiss then!! 😂
I think they just get mad when you make them talk to non-microsoft products. And yeah I've listened to teams meetings were I'm talking and I sound worse than anyone else.
They are super comfortable though so I don't really regret my choice. I can wear them all day without my ears feeling gummy or my head hurting.
"Be as tough as the road mate" - Words to live by, Cheers for the video mate.
Yay! DankPods uploaded! 😁 (liked this within an hour but had to save to watch later and come back. Life happened)
You can see someone in Starbucks now, working with a surface laptop, wearing surface bud and code using ms vscode and google using ms edge, while wearing a ms holo lens... It's truly an all Microsoft experience 😂
Yet Microsoft is complaining that they aren't a big enough company.
Msvscode 😂
You could still get a pet mouse and use the case as a food bowl for it, until you forget to buy food for Frank.
Just picked up the Bose Noise cancelling 700 in the UK in the Amazon sale for £170. I'm impressed at that price point. Wouldn't pay 300+ though
@@reecedrury4145 thank you!

I can think of something better. FLEX SEAL!
3:02 The new AirPod Pros are very, very good. The noise cancellation is insane and the frequency response is incredibly well tuned. I was blown away at how low they can get and how much better they sound than the first generation. You should definitely pick up a pair and review
Too bad- apple still grabbing people by the balls.

THE VIDEO IS FINALLY HERE I REMEMBER YOU SAYING YOU HAD NO WORDS TO THESE FOREVER AGO
Every time I see a Microsoft product unboxed, I can just _feel_ the little brother energy. They want to be Apple *so badly.*
They’re crap, I’d prefer Apple and Samsung forever
yea, microsoft has never made good hardware
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE AND IT HAS ARRIVED
I find it impossible to be a "huge windows microsoft guy" because even when they make something nice they turn around to screw us later.
Whenever I see headphone video from DankPods, I always expect a hilarious mic story and it's always served :)
I have no justifiable reason, but I found myself actually enjoying the sound of the plates more. I dunno, the crunchiness was more appealing compared to the generic muffled buds
I've got 1 eye closed because I'm super drunk and I saw you pull up those K • 401 headphones...
I legitimately thought those earphones in the background on your iPad were actual kidney beans.
I use Lenovo LP40 buds. They are great! They cost 15$, and are totally fine for that. Not exactly hifi, but the value is insane, and they seem to hold up pretty well
I gotta say I quite like my Beans.
Despite being called Surface they've got alot of volume to them
I love the cat bit you did @9:50 where you pushed it off slowly
Next we are getting full on screens on our ears
I picked up the “beans” brand new sealed for $50 on Facebook. I will say they are THE BEST $50 I spent, but I wouldn’t pay a penny more. It’s incredibly convenient, but decent audio with stellar noise cancellation (for what they are) and a damn near bulletproof case. They also have the best battery life I’ve seen so far (in my experience which is limited)
they are beautiful... it's a shame that when they came out they were very expensive for what they really were xd
9:02 "Who wants an expensive set of earbuds that only make sense at work?"
I think you meant to say:
"only make sense _during once-a-month (maybe week)_ presentations at work?"
