- Like it or hate it, the Ibanez Tim Henson TOD10n has been one of the most popular guitars of 2023! It's that popular that whenever one arrives with us at guitarguitar it's usually gone in the same day to some very happy customers. In this video, Keiran shows off 3 alternatives to the very popular nylon string acoustic guitar, which are all slightly cheaper & sound and play just as great.

I bought the cordoba stage when they first hit your stores. Would still be my first choice.
I think another appealing high purchase factor for the TOD10N is the build quality and the details that is put in the inlays and accessories which looks premium and classy.
Great video, man!
If you get a chance, please do a vid comparing the two available tops/fingerboards for that Cordoba. Spruce/Cedar/PauFerro, etc...
Beautiful playing man!! I recently got the FRH10N it plays so nice, I didn' consider that cordoba had a cool nylon guitar!
Thanks for the excellent video. I think i just made the decision to go with the frh10n.
I had the Cordoba Stage before buying the TOD10n ... but I find myself playing the Ibanez more!
The Cordoba finish is way too glossy for my taste. Both Ibanez models have a nicer satin finish throughout
@@slimturnpike is it satin or matt finish? TN looks matt
That's interesting.... the Cordoba sounds so warm and I like the electronic controls options. I'm kinda partial to an Ibanez as a brand but the Cordoba has piqued my interest.
@@michaelgottlieb9083I have a cordoba c5-ce & I love it. I have been stuck between the Stage & the TOD10N… but I’m not a huge fan of the whole plinkity plink sound of these thinner body guitars, so I’m afraid I might not really care for either of them. The cordoba does sound quite a bit fuller than the TOD10N, though.
@@jessicasturgis5991 plinking plink🤣🤣…I hear you tho… thanks for the info…have a good one!
Good range of alternatives. I'm surprised you did not include the GA35TCE in the demo. And maybe the Yamaha Silent ... My GA35 plugged into a Bose T4S offers a wide range of tones 🙂
I totally agree! The Ibanez GA35TCE sounds BETTER than the Tim Henson. So I bought the GA35
Man the Cordova sound is just butter to my ears
Thomann has one aswell, Thomann classic crossover nylon, it pretty much looks like the cordoba. I own one, and its a really nice guitar for the price! If you wanna try these thin body nylons, its a decent start
Can’t help but wondering how many more base models would sell if they had a simple volume control, plus tone.. Adjusting volume by running to the PA board ain’t gonna cut it.
As someone who is getting up in age and having some hand issues are these guitars easier to fret than your typical steel string? Thank you.
What type of desktop-sized speakers is the factory sound profile of TOD10N suitable for?
What you're looking for are called "studio monitors." They're made to be as flat as possible for music making. The KRK Classics and Yamaha HS are popular options!
Have you ever played at Godin? I would like to know if you think this is better than Godin?
Just from what I heard from your demonstration, the Tim Henson model sounded the least appealing, with the least sustain. I actually noticed the same thing in the Ibanez promo video with Tim Henson himself playing it. However thank you very much for this video, I was unaware of the alternatives.
I will definitely check out the Cordoba and the Yamaha.
the cordoba sounds the best in my opinion
I liked the Yamaha best and the Córdova. But I love how the Córdova looks. I’m glad you made this video. Didn’t know there were other options.
How do you get that buzzy sound?
Just ordered it 3 days ago from Sweetwater. Expect to receive mid April 2024..... What amp would you recommend?
Mid april?? for real??
@@synhet84the thing is back ordered to several miles under hell. It was back ordered since launch and it’s only mildly gotten better bc of how damn popular it is
Cordoba is my choice
Cordoba looks amazing but it's to wide neck for my smol fingers
0:26 what song is that? it sound catchy :)
Just a little piece I threw together myself :) my worst Polyphia impression haha - Keiran
good playin, reminds me of chon - fluffy
100€ for the inlays alone seems to be a fair deal, and you do get on top that pre-amp, which is nice to have.
Still wish they would have giving Steve Vai a version with his tree of life and make that avaible for sale too. ;-)
Well the last one is a completely different thing, but out of the first two, the Cordoba sounds better for sure.
Cordoba is the detroyer of worlds. Sound is louder, softer, reactive and great quality build.
What do the tattoos on your fingers mean
i want build a guitar like tod10n
Bro what was the song for the corboda stage
It's a piece that I wrote a while ago :) Thought it suited this demo

I’m really on the fence right now between the TOD and the FRH. Anyone that has suggestions, I’m all ears!
im replying for when anyone else responds to you cuz so am i haha
😂
I went with the TOD. In my opinion right now is the best time to go for it as it's in st9ck most vendors now and I had to wait almost a year for mine on back order. It's much prettier for sure and I like the phase button that the tod has vs the frh not really having any kind of preamp feature. The tuner is ass so you're going to end up tuning by ear for the nylon strings es0ecially. You want the g string a little flat because it doesn't sound quite right fully in tune but that may be due strictly to the fact it's a nylon. As far as aesthetics i awe at my guitar every time i pick it up and it's definitely pl2asing to the eyes for if you're doing something live. The tod10n matches my tattoos so as far as look I say you're getting bang for your buck but i also wouldnt mind having the frh 10n in the future to go along with it. In conclusion the tod10n is mainly depending on what catches your eyes and fits you as a player. If you just want a nylon with a fretboard you can hit the higher notes easily on and dont care much for the look id say go frh. They both use the exact same case as well.
@@seanhansen1996 Thanks for the feedback! I think I’m gonna wait a little longer but I’m probably gonna end up with the TOD
As far as specs they both have same specs except the frh10n doesn't have the classic gold tune keys or the mother of pearl binding. They both have Walnut fretboard, nyatoh necks, sapele back and sides, and a spruce top. The spruce top on the TOD is matte black finish so If you're not a fan of cleaning your guitar or fingerprints I'd say go with the frh. The sapele sides and back are also a darker finish on the tod. Either way though both these guitars will have your buddies saying "what the hell is that frankenstein" when they see it for the first time. Great conversation piece for sure.
Ntx1 is the only thing close i have on sale where i live anyway, so i guess I'm gonna get that. A pity it looks shit though
I sure wish these people would play some regular chords.
Villains are cooler than heroes
Every generation of innovative guitarists will come under fire from the previous, I wouldn't pay mind to the people who are always so bitter about new music.
Or a Godin
Just wait until all the flash lads have gave up guitar and there will be plenty of tim henson nylon strings on sale
Chet atkins
Ibanez Tim Henson TOD10n is a trash guitar. Ibanez must have rushed it through the factory to meet demand. I got mine on 5/23 and sent back due to shit sound. The mid control is not included on the onboard EQ plus cosmetic imperfections. The Cordoba Stage is not great either, mainly due to the weird neck width. None of them meet the playability & sound of my Taylor Academy 12e-N Grand Concert Nylon. Polyphia is an amazingly epic band. I saw them when they came to Portland OR @ the Roseland. I got a meet & greet ticket as well. Great humble group of guys especially the Clay's. There were so many TOD10n's there, I was grateful to have had one in hand. Buy a quality instrument, not gimmicks or 'darling of the moment' guitars.
If you're serious, you'll buy a Cordoba or a Godin. Don't waste your time on others.
Everyone should definitely get one of those other guitars, or just a standard classical guitar.
No one should buy the Tim Hanson guitar just out of principle. The guy is pretentious and hasn’t earned his cred. That flower on the neck instead of the standard alternating marks or inlay is just a bad design decision.
По мне так отвратительный звук. Кордоба стэйдж или пруденсио шэдоу звучат куда интереснее. Ну или в крайнем случае Годин джи-тур.
Nice comparison, thank you. Can't stand Tim Henson or Polyphia. That alone stops me from buying anything associated with him/them. Don't understand why Ibanez agreed to make that stupid guitar for him. They already had their similar model. After playing several options. I bought the Cordoba Stage and would do it again.
it's easy to be hateful toward people more talented or better then you are. It certainly shows someone's character when they throw little fits like that, though 😂
@@loganagolw Looks like I hit your woke button. Just because you are a fanboy doesn't mean that everyone else has to be. My comment wasn't a fit at all. Just being honest. No where in my post did I criticize Henson's talent or Polyphia other than stating that I can't stand either of them. That's a fact. Take my comment for what it is and don't read anything else into it.
@@jamesbridgman5223 no woke here, you just sound so angry 🤔 it's hard being less talented then someone else. I understand your turmoil. Guess what though, good news little fella..If you work really hard maybe own day you can be good at something too. Isn't that great ?!
They made it because feedback for tod10n was great, a lot of people like polyphia and want their guitars
I forgot about this child's winey fit, thanks for the reminder. I wonder if he's been practicing..
