The price point has it where mostly oldEr guys w/ some $ and good credit can own one. Most of the younger guys label things they can’t identify with for this reason. I wish i could have purchased this 22 cvo ultra limited 30 years ago and toured the whole country in better physical condition.

Great job with the history of the Road Glide! I sell these gems and they get seriously better every year! The engineering continues to develop the best selling bike in America and the Harley Davidson culture is second to no one! Thanks again!

The creation of 2022 dantes red fade cvo ultra limited made me jump in. The custom hand painted color scheme, and the fit & finish are all PREMIUM. Couldn’t find one when they came out so i bought a used 2021 cvo Black Hole. After 4k miles i ran into a DRF CVO and traded the Black Hole in. 26k Miles later….I’ve been to the Bronx bikes & breakfast to key west, Fl, and the mountains of W. VA, all from N. VA. The Adventures of owning the greatest American Touring bike are priceless! I Love my Road Glide.

The first one I ever saw was in an ad for the 95th anniversary model. I loved it. It would be another 10 years before I could afford one and in 2009 bought one brand new. My riding buddies say I was an RG guy before it was cool, lol.

Per Corporate HD the production numbers for 1998 Road Glide bikes revealed the following. They made 421 carbureted Road Glides, 133 were Electric Fuel Injected. They also informed me that even though they made 800 Anniversary Road Glide's only 648 stayed in the USA, the rest were exported to Canada and other countries.

I had two TG's , late 84 EVO with the enclosed chain and 88 .. Wish I still had either one .. Enclosed chain was the cats meow .. Put far side of 250k on the 84 and over 340k on the 88 .. The prototype some one mentioned below is the Liberator fairing made by Vetter , it was in the Harley P&A catalog for many years . Was a universal mount that would fit any big bike .. You see pics of Elvis' shovelhead , thats the Liberator .. I always herd ( been on HD since 1971 ) that the shark was to be the mainline touring fairing for Harley , but Vetter had a fire in 1977 and destroyed the molds ( they were supplying the fairing thru the P&A catalog ) . So HD went on it's own to develop the TG fairing ..

Excellent video. Informative and entertaining. I've owned three touring models (2004 Road King, 2007 Street Glide and 2022 Road King (still own and love)). I considered myself a Street Glide guy until my son and I saw the 2023 1/2 CVO Road Glide. We are now Road Glide guys. I test rode a 2024 Road Glide a few weeks ago and it was amazing. My first bike was a 1999 Fatboy with an Evo, so I've been a Harley guy for a minute. The 2024 Road Glide is the best bike I ever rode. If one ever saw the prototype of the Tour Glide before it was ever released, YOU would NOT believe how BIG the fairing originally was. It was HUGE! Also, HD reversed engineered many Goldwings to develope the Tourglide, which went on to become the Roadglide.

my 86 was chain drive and had the air in the front engine case guard aka crash guard , AM FM with Cassette tape . the Highway light bar had the turning signals on my 86 , the Battery was under the right side saddle bag . Screaming Eagle Exhaust turn down like the Red Bike at 06:18 . It had the Oil from Engine to the Primary to filter I did not like the oil from my clutch going to the Engine I rerouted the oil lines and plugged the primary and filled it when I changed oil I still use 20/50 for the clutch . The Earley EVO got a lot of left over parts from the left over Shovel inventory .

As an ex auto mechanic and 49 year old. It will take a lot for me to like the new ones. From the front fairing that looks like they copied the evil robots of pick your favorite robot anime to all the electronic addons. One thing you learn is if you want to make more problems than necessary and guarantee failure- add electronics. I never could get into the road glide thing to begin with though. that fixed wing fairing with the exposed handle bars just gives the appearance when on it I am on a jet ski and not a motorcycle. They look great from a side profile - the older ones. But in the saddle just not my aesthetics.

I almost traded my 2023 rg with the 124 and put in 10k on top to get a 2024
But couldn’t part with my 2023 even tho the 27 OTD they were gonna do on the new one ..
Took some of that money I was gonna put in and got a 2008 FLHRCI (33k miles and full service history), 555 cams and 16 Carlinis and tons of extras. So got two sweet bikes instead of one new one that is gonna leave me stranded (EVERYONE I know had it shut down on them and leave em fucked and not in a good way).
The 117 with the new heads tho.. oh man. Liquid cooled WITHOUT lowers, springs can take a 515 lift cam from the factory, and the intake ports are wayyy bigger.. if I could get the wet heads on my 2023.. oh man

@@Americanmotorcycleexperience Haha. Yeah man, I wondered the same thing. But like my Indian Scout, you can hear the pump kick on, 1 sec, you can start right up. And I like that the OS puts the gauges on within that same 1-2 sec, and it's the infotainment, and carplay connections that can take a goof 5-10 seconds. And they can be glitchy. That would be my only complaint with the system is the Carplay aspect of it can sometimes not connect automatically, or shut off on a trip. You never lose gauges though.
