I hear Mr. Tony in my ear when i'm fielding these men, went on a date last nite with a man that most find attractive (tall-6f6, dark and handsome) had at least 10 phone calls prior to going out (even a vid date)...first date in person ..i met him there...was eating...I offered to pay my part...he snatched the tab away so fast! Standards protect us from people and situations that would make us lose, suffer or waste valuable time, feelings or money. We live in a world where most people try to take and gain as much as possible from you while giving as little as possible, where your kindness can be taken as weakness, where no one would come to you admit that what they bring to your table is less valuable than what you bring. So it's up to us to observe, draw the line and use standards as a protective and filtering method that doesn't allow everyone and everything get to us, while also knowing that people who want to be in our lives will rise up to meet them.

So true! I recently went out on a few dates with a guy and right away I picked up on things weren't of my standards. I gave it a total of 3 dates before I finally concluded that we were not compatible. So the 4th time that he asked to take me out, I was able to tell him that I didn't think we were compatible. No hard feelings involved or anything. He just wasn't for me. Surprisingly, he responded by saying "Thanks for being honest I appreciate it". And that was that.

This video was handcrafted for me today!! I just told a guy I was getting to know that getting to know each other more is not best for me. He talked the talk, encouraging me and pointing me towards God, but he didn’t believe in waiting until marriage for sex. That was so hard for me to wrap my mind around. He is respectful, loving, intelligent, wise, everything that I think makes a person a man. But that one standard, I almost gave in and sacrificed. I was in the car yelling at God, why would you put someone so tempting in my life? With tears streaming down my face I told him no more talking, and I’ll see him in church. After watching this video I felt so much relief and thankfulness that I did not give in. I needed some good direction for this situation I was in. I am going to make my list of standards right now! Love this I was in a similar situation cried to God after too. The guy had an unclean spirit and I could sense and smell the spiritual stench of the need for sex all over him. He would slyly bring up sex talk and when mentioned that it was ungodly he’d say God forgives and judges 🤢I hate this excuse I find it extremely disrespectful. I should have listened to my intuition because I sensed this all early. Last straw was when he had the audacity to call me after a date and to come over and imply that he wanted me to “jerk him off as he didn’t want to keep doing it himself” 2 weeks into deep talking and this was after daily talks over an hour a day, church weekly, praying over me and talking about scriptures ( he knew them better than me) doesnt smoke, drink etc. Scary out there.

In dating, without setting my standards in stone and having them written out and clear to me, I have tolerated a lot of BS that looking back I think - how did I let that slide? I realized I was dating men I was attracted to, getting to know them by spending a lot of time on the phone, and by the time things came up that I would consider to be a red flag, I would already feel like I’ve invested time & built an emotional bond. Also, prior to abstaining, I would sleep with a guy within 3 months. When you don’t have standards and a concrete plan as a woman, you are setting yourself up for failure. You aren't lying about those tests Tony. I went on an 8 night cruise after eating a plant based diet for two weeks. By the grace of God, I made it with my diet 🙌🏾 It takes standards and discipline. Sometimes it's hour by hour. Stay the course, reap your rewards 💯

This is so true Tony! My ex smoked weed a lot and I was always guilty by association. I received complaints from my apartment manager because she smelled weed in my apt. When I was selling my house a prospective buyer also complained of smelling weed coz my stoner ex smoked in the backyard. There was no traveling anywhere with him because there was no weed where we were going. Ladies leave these stoners alone.
I lowered my standards this one time with my ex. He had a street persona, manners, and respectful as I was very interested in this very handsome man. I found out later he didn't care about improving himself. He liked drugs, fast younger women, sex, and lying to me.

I got finessed yall after 1 year of total abstinence including not drinking for 2 years.. I got tested just as TG said and failed .. alcohol was involved and I was immediately regretful and disgusted and had to seek repentance like I never did before.. the fear of God took over me like wild fire!!! Like Tony said I didn’t think about what the test would be and it came HEAVY! I failed but is not happening again thanks TG!!

Standards are very important in all types of relationships. Shows how you feel about your self. I'm learning through therapy that a lot of behaviors are ingrained from childhood and they almost all revolve around not setting standards/boundaries. Spending time to unlearn all of that now so that implementing those standards becomes second nature.

You have to Keep your standards no matter what. He will leave eventually if he gets tired of following them. If he really wants to be with you, he will be with you on your terms.
I feel the same way, but I chalk it up as hey at least I didn’t waste my time and energy. I totally took the advice of talking at least 10 hours or more before going out with a guy. It works, and they show themselves early before lulling you with a date.

Having standards will keep most toxic people out, and having boundaries will scare most toxic people away. They will quickly see that they can’t take advantage of you and will have to leave your life or change themselves if they want to be a part of your life. I hear Mr. Tony in my ear when i'm fielding these men, went on a date last nite with a man that most find attractive (tall-6f6, dark and handsome) had at least 10 phone calls prior to going out (even a vid date)...first date in person ..i met him there...was eating...I offered to pay my part...he snatched the tab away so fast! Standards protect us from people and situations that would make us lose, suffer or waste valuable time, feelings or money. We live in a world where most people try to take and gain as much as possible from you while giving as little as possible, where your kindness can be taken as weakness, where no one would come to you admit that what they bring to your table is less valuable than what you bring. So it's up to us to observe, draw the line and use standards as a protective and filtering method that doesn't allow everyone and everything get to us, while also knowing that people who want to be in our lives will rise up to meet them.

So true! I recently went out on a few dates with a guy and right away I picked up on things weren't of my standards. I gave it a total of 3 dates before I finally concluded that we were not compatible. So the 4th time that he asked to take me out, I was able to tell him that I didn't think we were compatible. No hard feelings involved or anything. He just wasn't for me. Surprisingly, he responded by saying "Thanks for being honest I appreciate it". And that was that.

This video was handcrafted for me today!! I just told a guy I was getting to know that getting to know each other more is not best for me. He talked the talk, encouraging me and pointing me towards God, but he didn’t believe in waiting until marriage for sex. That was so hard for me to wrap my mind around. He is respectful, loving, intelligent, wise, everything that I think makes a person a man. But that one standard, I almost gave in and sacrificed. I was in the car yelling at God, why would you put someone so tempting in my life? With tears streaming down my face I told him no more talking, and I’ll see him in church. After watching this video I felt so much relief and thankfulness that I did not give in. I needed some good direction for this situation I was in. I am going to make my list of standards right now! Love this I was in a similar situation cried to God after too. The guy had an unclean spirit and I could sense and smell the spiritual stench of the need for sex all over him. He would slyly bring up sex talk and when mentioned that it was ungodly he’d say God forgives and judges 🤢I hate this excuse I find it extremely disrespectful. I should have listened to my intuition because I sensed this all early. Last straw was when he had the audacity to call me after a date and to come over and imply that he wanted me to “jerk him off as he didn’t want to keep doing it himself” 2 weeks into deep talking and this was after daily talks over an hour a day, church weekly, praying over me and talking about scriptures ( he knew them better than me) doesnt smoke, drink etc. Scary out there.

In dating, without setting my standards in stone and having them written out and clear to me, I have tolerated a lot of BS that looking back I think - how did I let that slide? I realized I was dating men I was attracted to, getting to know them by spending a lot of time on the phone, and by the time things came up that I would consider to be a red flag, I would already feel like I’ve invested time & built an emotional bond. Also, prior to abstaining, I would sleep with a guy within 3 months. When you don’t have standards and a concrete plan as a woman, you are setting yourself up for failure. I’m so thankful for videos such as this that gives us women the blueprint for success

Thank you for this video. It's definitely going to be something I need to think about this weekend, even though I've already had just about every test thrown at me, I still need to continue fortifying myself with conviction. That is a journey that never ends.
One thing I notice in the past that has helped me a great deal, is that once I become committed to something, I don't speak it out loud. Every time I do, it doesn't work. When I keep it to myself though, I get blessings.

This is so true Tony! My ex smoked weed a lot and I was always guilty by association. I received complaints from my apartment manager because she smelled weed in my apt. When I was selling my house a prospective buyer also complained of smelling weed coz my stoner ex smoked in the backyard. There was no traveling anywhere with him because there was no weed where we were going. Ladies leave these stoners alone.

I got finessed yall after 1 year of total abstinence including not drinking for 2 years.. I got tested just as TG said and failed .. alcohol was involved and I was immediately regretful and disgusted and had to seek repentance like I never did before.. the fear of God took over me like wild fire!!! Like Tony said I didn’t think about what the test would be and it came HEAVY! I failed but is not happening again thanks TG!!

The brain responds best to positive words to express standards. “I don’t want an inconsiderate cheater with a wandering eye” -> “I want a faithful, integrity keeping man who is loving, attentive and considerate to me”. I already know what you don’t want, it’s an exercise to try expressing what I do want. It becomes an affirmation of what I believe I deserve and what I am holding out for.

Standards are very important in all types of relationships. Shows how you feel about your self. I'm learning through therapy that a lot of behaviors are ingrained from childhood and they almost all revolve around not setting standards/boundaries. Spending time to unlearn all of that now so that implementing those standards becomes second nature.

What do you do if you have standards and your boyfriend is resentful about having to follow your standards, because although he follows them and knows I will leave if he doesn't, he doesn't believe in them? Is he not the one then? Tony you say your wife laid down standards and you realized you had to follow them but you seemed to do it because you wanted to; I think that is great, but rare.

I feel the same way, but I chalk it up as hey at least I didn’t waste my time and energy. I totally took the advice of talking at least 10 hours or more before going out with a guy. It works, and they show themselves early before lulling you with a date.
