- Guest Host Friday is back, baby! And today we’re in for a double treat as Nick Wiger, and Mike Mitchell aka Doughboys from @DoughboysPodcast are here to…I want to say enjoy(?) Peanut Butter Sandwiches from 1917’s Salads and Sandwiches. And no, it doesn’t just have peanut butter. Much to Wiger and Mitch’s chagrin.

Doughboys were the reason I started watching the channel
Same TBH.
Wow!
“Now it’s Wiger’s time to smear”
Nick wearing his trademark disappearing shorts
To quote the Spoonman, "Uh, this is one....for da boys!"
Love how Mitch imitated our man’s voice saying “go”!
finally got the Doughboys on here, siiick
OK, First of all, olives mixed with peanut butter actually sounds like it would really work. I'm disappointed you didn't like it. Secondly, as an Irish person who no longer lives in Ireland, I think the reason that Kerrygold isn't considered high-end in Ireland, but is a luxury outside of Ireland is that all butter in Ireland has a higher fat content than other countries (except maybe France). If you buy Kerrygold in Ireland, then you are just buying standard butter. If you buy it outside of Ireland, then you are buying the best damn butter you have ever bought.
Mike Mitchell! Loved him in "Love"!
Wow!
I can see this sandwich emanating out of the early 1900’s advances in canning technology; a home pantry sandwich....
Jesus christ, Wiger. Put some pants on.
Hot capicola + cucumber is the plus up you're looking for.
wow
Growing up we used to eat peanut butter and green olives as an opened face sandwich!
Never thought about adding sliced cucumbers to a creamy peanut butter sandwich. Sounds good and will try!
PillsBarry Doughboys!
Been waiting for one for these crazy peanut butter sandwiches. I have a Better Homes & Gardens cookbook from 1951 that has a section on “novelty” sandwiches. One of the sandwiches considered a “novelty” at the time was “peanut butter and tart jelly”. What was not considered a novelty in this cookbook was “chopped cooked bacon, peanut butter, and mayonnaise.”
They should'vs minused it down. Minus the olives!
Never been a fan of peanut butter, but I do enjoy it in specific foods and sauces. Makes me wonder what if there was any taste difference between now and a typical 1917 PB. The plus ups do seem like an interesting combo, shoutouts to the Doughboys 👍
Helll yeah!
olives and peanut butter definitely do not make a lot of sense together.
You're using modern culinary knowledge to judge a recipe from over 100 years ago. People didn't know as much back then.
Wiger: “Now Mitch, fun fact: this sandwich from 1917 is actually depicted being consumed in the film 1917.”
Mitch: “Wow.”
Wiger: “That‘s not true.”
Take two inedible things and mix them together...erm no thanks! A Kryptonite sandwich anyone?
All right Mitch has fixed up his sando, now it's wiger's time to smear
Wow
I don't think that is the right kind of peanut butter. I think they would've had something more like fresh ground peanuts.
Don't worry, your "a go" is way better😊
as a reminder, these scores are out of 1 million (uh, do they do that joke on Doughboys, too?)
Black olives are the most underrated food item in the world… Going to try this delicious looking sandwich... Black olives, make everything better
Hats off for rescuing what looked, to be honest, like an unappetising mess of a sandwich.
what a strange sandwich
oh shit
YESSSS
Almost a 7 or 8 and not even going to finish it?🤦♀️
Genuinely lol'd at the Kerrygold comment- it's fine, but it's always bizarre to see people talking about it like it's a premium brand.
I feel like this sandwich suffers from a marketing fail. It's not just a peanut butter sandwich- it's so much more! That still does not mean I want to eat it. Doughboys are cool though!
Any European butter is 10000x better than ANY American or Canadian butter. Our butter is greasy, white and flavourless. Kerrygold is simply the most widespread available European butter sold in most of our grocery stores.
@@KylaA5952 While it's very good indeed. At least in So Cal is pretty easy to get Vital Farms, which is an American butter with an even higher butterfat % than Kerrygold. Danish Cremery's also excellent and I believe higher in butterfat also. I can get both brands locally so unless they're out of those I don't touch Kerrygold.
The 2 I mentioned are European style, I should mention that.
That sounds awful. Thanks boys
I must say this sammich is the most revolting idea I have ever heard on this channel. Sorry to disagree. /dodges thrown chair.
YUCK! No thanks.
Wow!
