Carne Louca (Brazil) on Sandwiches of History

- You might recall a couple of weeks back that we did the Misto Quente from Brazil. It was basically a grilled ham and cheese. Lest you think all Brazilian sandwiches are just as straightforward, may I present the Carne Louca which translates to “crazy beef.” I search for Brazilian blogs with recipes but each time Google trasnlated the site into something not quite useful. So, I opted for a recipe from TheSpruceEats.com And yeah, it is a fair amount of work but it makes a lot so you can feed a bunch of people or freeze the leftovers (like I will)

Sometimes when I'm making a recipe that takes multiple days, I think of this channel and as I put the food in the fridge to marinate, I whisper to myself 'I'm a monster'
I am from Brazil and yes! We do use a type of crema on these here!
What do you do with the leftover broth. I know it's to flavor the beef, but there must be more broth than beef
@@johndeyeso4411 I feel like the only acceptable answer here is guzzle it like a keg scene in a fratboy comedy.
Requeijão
The crema was a good idea! Here in Brazil we like shredding our carne louca, more like a pulled beef, and we usually eat it at parties. The host makes a large pot of carne louca and puts it besides a bag of bread, so the guests can serve themselves. Great video!
I kinda want to try it with a “dipped” plus-up, Italian beef style
Seems like Brazil has a LOT of tasty tasty sandwiches....
Crema, perfect plus up and adding some creaminess! Bravo!
That part of the world has a whole different mindset for sandwiches that satisfies all your needs if you are for a hearty meal in a bread and they are really good at that.
Salvadorian crema is extra buttery , also found in Mexican markets
I just subscribed last night. Great channel for people like me, who like to put most anything between two pieces of bread.
that looks incredible
A week from today, Sunday, is the Copa America Final. It will almost definitely be Argentina vs the winner of Colombia/Uruguay, it would be awesome if you did something to commemorate that. They all have great sandwiches. Just an idea! Love the channel
Your Carne Louca went beautiful! Here every home has it’s own recipe and I think your is a pretty good one!
the way you did the intro reminded me of something, like "today on This Old Sandwich..."
also the audio in the second half of the video seems to switch to mono, or left speaker balanced.
One day, peanuts, bananas, and sardines mashed together
like cat food, then topped with sliced watermelon and jalapeños on some rye; the next is a delicious braised Brazilian beef sandwich that takes two days to make. SANDWICHES of HISTORY, you just never know, but I always have to watch - like a car crash. 😊👍
I’m totally digging your channel. Big fan now.
Welcome home.
I’d love to see the slightly dark Barry of the Future participate again in some of these two-day cooks. There’s something about him …
I'd rather eat that stew over rice.
same, it reminded me a lot of my tio’s Puerto Rican steak dishes
Good call.
1:40 this looks excellent
no rolls? rice! it looks like it’s a good main dish that rice would work with especially as it’s a lot like the meals my tio made
Alright that's right up my alley, that's awesome. The most intensive cooking I do is tater tot casserole so will never make it, but I envy you!
Dam good 👍I’m disappointed you didn’t jump on a plane to Brazil to buy crema then fly home to make this video Lol 😝
I know its not shirts of history, Barry in a solid color shirt, sans any flare. That is "the monster" 😊
I want to make this.
very complex i loved it! looked delicious
chimi churri and potato stix for plus up.
How about using a Brazilian Pilsner-Style brew instead of water?
Cachaça's pretty much my favourite alcohol, but I've never looked at recipes that use it. This looks excellent! Thanks as ever for the eye opener 👍🏻
I did not see the Cachaca slurry move coming!
❤ HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU GOOD SIR! ! 🥳 ☮&💓
Thank you
Man that was a lot of work! But boy does it sound good!!
That sounds really good, the marinade would make a good salad dressing base
doesn’t seem like it’s too difficult to swap the beef for tofu or hearty veggies to make it vegetarian
It's more soup than sandwich! You cannot argue with results, tho.
Looking good but basic till you added the capers. Good PU.
Why don't you take advantage of Uruguay bumping off Brazil from the Copa América and do a chivito? I know that you have covered the Argentinian lomito, and I felt a bit offended ;-) I enjoy your videos, thanks. Abrazo

@@SandwichesofHistory My apologies. That's before I started following you. Thank you again.
i would dip that in ketchup
that is a full ass fridge
Um, sir, we keep the ass fridge in the garage.
@@SandwichesofHistory good i'm more of a boob fridge myself, interpret that anyway you like.
Im loving it! But I really wanted to see that last piece of tomato get thrown in. Like a ruined sneeze lol
I will continue this comment on your next....
What is the creme made of?
Seriously I have no idea?
I dunno, i just thing a sandwich needs to be something from the fridge slapped between two bits of bread.
I'm a simple man i guess
😂😂 all that work for sandwich - too much - but if you cook it, I will try it, but there’s no way I do all that for sandwich I think of the sandwich is something quick to fix and tasty to eat.👎
put it over rice instead
Sandwiches. Plural
2 days to make for under 10 views in 45 seconds? Things are looking grim.
It’s lunch time here!
Looking pretty good from here
Yeah but I got at least 4 solid lunches out of it so there's that.
@@SandwichesofHistory your videos, including this one, are always awesome. I love how you present sandwiches quick and to the point, and I love the randomness I get here each day. I wish I could say more, but don't listen to this guy!
