- I'm going to talk about the mowers I prefer to use on hills. certain hills cannot be mowed safely with just any mower but the toro grandstand and toro walk behind mowers with the tru track wheels work well on most reasonable slopes. Also in this film I talk about the well designed platform on the toro grandstand. makes for a more comfortable confident mowing experience when it comes to slopes. Not on my hill (steep septic drain field, much steeper than this hill). The Toro walk behind worked for a bit but it’s transmission didn’t last to justify the cost. The (recalled) Craftsman 23in is the best one, but because of the recall I have to sharpen the blade myself and will only use it in mulch mode for safety.
A few years ago I had a John Deere F1145 front mower. 28 hp fwd. I could climb hills that had me laying on my back, not sitting on butt. sidehill was just as good. Steep and I mean steep and I never worried about it rolling over. It had a Curtis cab because I plowed snow with it in the winter. Turf tires no ballast plowed great. You could mow in the rain, 72 inch with mulch kit, and it looked like you mowed on a sunny day. Just a wonderful machine.
Wow, I didn't realize those did good on hills, but if you really look at them, it makes sense. Then, being able to plow with it, too. Dang!
I love my Grandstand on hills. Well now I have to make a video on this and show you my way. I do use the angled parts on the platform but I have a little twist that works better for me and since I mow properties with lots of hills I will have no problem making a video lol

I have a grandstand too… great mower i plant one foot on the edge like you and the other i kind of put my knee on the outside corner of the cushion

I have owned two toro grandstands , a 2011 and a 2017. Both awesome on hills , Ferris z2 it was great also . Now have cub cadet prov 600 I think it’s called . It may be even better certainly as good . It has bigg tires which help hold the hills . I have an older John Deere 48 inch stand on it’s not good at all on hills . I’m really liking my cub cadet !!

I have a grandstand. I don't think any stand on with the flip down platform can be categorized as great on hills. The ones with the built in platforms are far superior on hills. Ferris and snap ons are absolute Billy goats charging up a hill
