  • I love nothing more than unusual performance cars by GM, and this somewhat forgotten car fits that description great. I’ll be talking about this beautiful liquid red 2009 G8 GT and running it through its gears. Have a lot more videos planned so stay tuned and have a grand day!

One of my buddies from work bought one of these in 2009 new. He took us for a ride in it, and it was almost terrifying how fast it got to 140mph. The cylinder deactivation was really annoying and probably it's biggest downfall

It’s funny you said this because in the video I said it’s governed at 137 but I’ve seen and heard people going 155 and I wasn’t 100% sure. 137 seemed really low for a car like this, but I’m glad you cleared the air and that sounds like an awesome car. What color was it?

@@Bmstaudy I remember by the time we got off of the freeway on-ramp.
We were doing one fifteen , maybe one twenty. Hispedometer red 140 and then he started changing lanes. And it felt like the vehicle was lifting and dropping as we switched lanes.

@Bmstaudy I had another buddy at work at the same time that bought the gto. His top speed was much higher at one seventy and it was a much louder. You just couldn't put all your friends in it

Sounds like a fun car, but I gotta give it to those gtos they move really well!

The AFM on mine finally gave out recently. Only had 126k miles. I was thinking to sell the car and take the loss but I decided to put a new engine in it. Too good to get rid of it

Good eye, the g8 gxp and ss both have the ls3 and a lot of people say that the ss is the little brother to the g8

You can also drive it around in "manual" mode so it wont go into 4 cylinder mode. The 4 cylinder mode seems to be hard on the transmission too.

@@Bmstaudy Yes. If it is your car and ya plan to keep it for a while its best to use the "manual" trick while cruising and keep up on oil changes till you can do a cam and lifter swap.
