Normal idle for a cam, I own a G8 GT, mine shakes a bit and it’s got the stock cam, runs great and they are truly collectible and fun!
It’s got a rod knock, might wanna get the bearings looked at 🤣

Is it a ls2 6.0?
It’s an L76 Engine. Very similar to the LS2 , they use the same block, but the L76 uses a couple different parts like the L96 heads, LS3 intake, and DoD/AFM cam, that make it a different engine

I bought my G8 GT back in early February, I love the car, I’m 6’8” and 320lbs, car fits me just fine, the EVAP system sensors needed replacing, and the Strut mount on the passenger side needs replacement, but so far, that’s it (knocks on wood), it’s a blast to own, and at this point a bit of a sleeper car, no one knows what it is these days, which is fun at stop lights.
Good to know I’m trying to buy one my self and was wondering about that I’m 6’8 360 so it’s gotta be big and fast
I got mine and im 7'6 310 pounds and fit just fine and still have back seat room
I'm 9'3", and I had to cut a hole in the roof to fit in it. Other than that, the car fits me just fine.

Engine has a huge rod knock, likely a spun bearing. Over revved, rode hard put away wet, buddy giving it gas while cranking the key in a fuel injected motor........

i got one of these its a 09 liquid red sport. fun car. i got the 6.0 too with 14k and no mods other than tune and cold air, still idles as smooth as any car out there.

That Pacific Slate Blue G8 is worth more. The specific color is one of the rarest out of all the G8 colors.

Stryker Blue had lowest production percentage, had a 09 Stryker Blue Base model there were only 432 produced. Would have to go to GXP to get lower numbers. I'm on my 2ed G8 but this is a GT. Best car I ever had.
It's my all time favorite car that I have ever personally owned . I have had all kinds of cars from caddies, to vettes, to trans ams and firebirds to camaros to cobra mustang's ..I have driven Porsches and the likes .I have had a lot of different cars over my course of 44 years. I LOVE CARS! This one is by far my favorite. Anyone who has driven one knows why. Those who haven't had the honor or privilege to drive one yet owes it to themselves to drive one then they will see why it is people's favorite car.
I'll never forget the first time I beat on my G8 GT. A car that heavy has no business being so nimble.

The g8 gt and GXP were a actually made in Australia. Pontiac brought them over from a company named HOLDEN.

okay so y'all got me on this one lol. I know its not really a big block motor, but to me its still a big ass motor for a smaller sedan. Now the GXP version of this car I believe has a 6.2L with 415 HP. Would you still consider that a Small Block? of course I'm not a motor head guy lol.
@@CarolinaCarVideos lol yes its still a small block with this LS they can keep the block sized the same and still have a large displacement a 6.2 can be turned into 7.0/427 if u sleeve the block or just buy one sleeved

That was a pretty clean used G8...it def had some mods..including a thumping cam. I was one of the first to buy one brand new back in 2008 and regret getting rid of to this day. If I was in your area when you had it avail i wouldve swoooped it up in a hot sec....
I LOVE MY 09 G8 GT Panther Black Metallic with Black leather interior... both Sports and premium package. I wish I could upload some pics. But I LOVE the look of the White. I just now turned 63,000 miles on mine.
I owned a 08. Had a lifter get stuck in compression and was causing a tapping noise so I bought a cam and lifter kit and got rid of that DOD crap. It didn't save much in fuel no way cause I kept my foot in the gas lol. Great and fun car tho.
It's not normal to hear a rod knocking around in the engine that g8 has definitely seen better days

The white G8 is actually a 2009.5 with the cupholders in the rear and it has blue tooth factory.

The car definitely looks really nice but aftermarket wheels just rub me the wrong way. Should have kept OEM factory wheels on for better value. Plus there was a little bit of damage from what it looked like on the front passenger side side skirt going along the bottom.

really the engine is knocking? I guess I have just not heard many knocking motors before. Well I filmed this car a few weeks ago and the car still has not sold. The guy that purchased it last year brought the car back and traded it back in for a Chevy truck. said he needed the truck for work, but now some of y'all got me thinking he traded it back in due to some larger issues with the motor?!?
I've only made it about 4 minutes into the video, and I can't take it anymore. It's not a big block. And just because it's got Pontiac badges doesn't mean Pontiac made it. This is a Holden with Pontiac badges. Okay, we can resume the video now.

They dont make them anymore because Holden shut down shop not pontiac. Pontiac just rebadge it. When the new model came out they called it chevy. I have one of these and it was a vauxhall! End of the day they are Holdens. Great car though👍
Pontiac did go under before Holden. Pontiac died in 2010. Chevrolet sold the Caprice (Holden) from 2011-2017. Then the Chevrolet SS (Holden) from 2014-2017.

So....deleting a sun roof adds horsepower, and the LS L76 is a big block, and that rod knock is caused by the camshafts. This guy should review shoe stores. Good Grief !
well thanks for telling it like it is Al. Shoes would be cool to review, but someone I got into the car game years ago. I was told the vehicle had motor work done to it with upgraded cams and thats why it sounded like that.
An aftermarket performance cam shaft does not make an engine knock as that engine does. As mentioned by others it sound like a rod knock. I currently have a 2008 G8 GT.
Love the G8, not a car you see every day. I have a 09 MGM GT with 9,990 miles on it.
i know my comment is a few months late but this might help for anyone looking at buying one of these cars. This car has what's known as the "LS chirp of doom" from 8:55 - 9:00 you can really here it. Kinda sounds like a bird chirp. It's the lifters failing and munching on the cam. New lifters and cam are needed. Whoever bought this for 13k just got ripped off big time. Will eventually put metal through the motor, and that's when the whole motor has to be replaced. It is VERY common on the 2008 - 2009 models.

Sounds like it has a fucked lifter on idle, probably didn't pull the heads and replace them when the previous owner done the cam swap.
At the time it was underrated but today there are too many V8 muscle in the used market for cheap. You can get Camaros, Mustangs, even Challengers for cheap on the used market.
So let’s recap:
-Resprayed front end
-Former owner had engine work done
-It took forever to turn over
-It sounds like something is wrong with the engine

It’s actually a 2009 HOLDEN COMMODORE VE SSV. Holden built it and sent it to you. Released as a Pontiac.
Not trying to be nit picky, but it’s a small block. Great car.

It sounds cammed as well, thus the price. Most people buy these and replace the cam. Could also have headers.
@68Camaro RS/SS lifters are notorious for going out on these 6.0 g8's, probably needs replacing which is what they meant by the engine "knock".
@@MNTB77Highly likely if it's cammed the lifters were replaced and DoD deleted. I just hear the cam lope, not my thing personally but others like it; I'm nothearing lifter tick. But with the long crank and CEL coming on it doesn't seem to be tuned right.

Definitely has knock, cam sounds good though. Needs attention though.
As being the proud owner of one the house could believe it or not a few different things from the DOD lifters making the noise or even caused from the fuel pump.

Definitely would need a carfax with this one. Rear bumper paint doesnt match. Car is clearly not tuned for the cam. took way too long to start.

The vortec 454 / 7.4 is not the same as the ls 454 / 7.4.
Both the lsx454, and ls7 427 are hand built sbe’s.
