    One problem when you use words like “always” is that outside our universe we don’t know if there is time at all.

    Circular thinking says that if you believe in god, you must believe in the bible. Also, if you believe in the bible, you must believe in god. If you are within the circle, it all makes sense. If you are outside the circle it does not. But then you have to ask' which god, which scripture?'.

    Maybe the creator does not care about what humains think or believe

  • @pmcate2
    @pmcate2 Місяць тому

    I'll make a weaker argument. I'm not claiming that there is a grand purpose to life, but I think that even if there was a creator/heaven, it wouldn't give life any more meaning than it would have w/o a creator or heaven.
    There are roughly 2 cases.
    1) If you think of heaven as rays of sunshine through clouds, birds chirping, getting to see your grandma again, having good times again with your buddies, then purpose in heaven is no different than what it was on Earth. You're simply doing earthly things again. The only difference is that you'll have comfort knowing that you'll never be in pain again. But that has nothing to do with "what do you do for eternity?"
    2) If you think of heaven as being in wonder of god for eternity, then that's a little strange that you're ok with that, since functionally that's no different than being hooked up to a morphine machine and being magically kept alive by god for eternity.

    You State that you believe a creator or God exists doesn't mean anything except to you.
    If you had any evidence for it, you'd State the fact that a God exists, but without it all you're left with is faith or belief without evidence. And that's just sad.

    The doctrine of the trinity is not comprehensible from a purely human perspective. There is much in scripture that can not be proved by human reasoning and the problem that has been plaguing us since the enlightenment is attempting to reduce an infinite God to terms that can be comprehended by a finite mind. Good luck with that. Martin Luther was asked to explain how Jesus body and blood could be present in, with, and under the bread and wine of communion, Luther's phrase. He simply said that is a miracle that is not humanly explainable. Much to do with God is, and we are fools to try to fit it into our limited reasoning capacity. As Einstein said, "The more we learn the more we realize how little we actually know."

      Why would a reasonable god create rules to follow but make them very difficult to understand and mysterious? Not being rhetorical or facetious.

    • @user-ld4xx1el6q
      @user-ld4xx1el6q Місяць тому

      @@countyrebels I am not sure what is difficult of mysterious. Love God above all else. Do not love anything that you have made. Do not abuse God's name. Devote one day in seven to rest and worship. Honer your father and mother. Do not murder. Do not have sex with anyone other than your mate. Do not steal. Do not lie to get your neighbor in trouble. Do not crave anything that is your neighbor's. It seems straight forward and simple to me.

      Not really, we are 3 things at the same time, soul, body and spirt...... three things that come together to make one

      As Einstein said:
      "The word God is for me nothing but the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of venerable but still rather primitive legends. No interpretation, no matter how subtle, can (for me) change anything about this. [...] For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstition."

    Hitchens and the new atheists are great at critiquing fundamentalism, which is important work. But right away, hitchens assumes God = judge sending people to eternal misery or glory. Theyre great at attacking a straw man/skydaddy views of spirituality.

    God does not send anyone to hell! If you wish to spend eternity in the presence of God you must be perfect and none of us are. You can be made perfect by the washing of Jesus blood. If you do not choose to take advantage of this gift bought on the cross that is your choice, not God's. If you wish to live by your own fallible devices you can but God would rather you avail your self of the free gift of salvation in Jesus.

      @@roncoleman3259 Having read the entire Bible from cover to cover, including the Apocrypha several times I am not sure how I could look into things more deeply. All day every day my life for the last 55 years has been steeped in trying, and regularly failing to do what I believe to be right. If the Gospel is not true then I am doomed to spend eternity totally alone, been there done that and it is a bummer, my only hope is the washing of Jesus Blood if I want to see Jesus when I die and that is all that I long for.

      Don't be a huckster. That's the point here. If there is a god it will know you were/are good. The bible is too human-centric. Be good (truly good) and you will be fine with any god in the universe. Hope you have a great day.

      @@countyrebels I do my best but I fail frequently to live up to even my own faulty standards. If I am not capable of being good enough for me how can I possibly be good enough for God. Praise God, I do not have to be. God, Himself became a man and died on a cross to pay my debt. "The debt is paid in full." He said, "I is finished," is an inadequate translation.

      So I can choose to be with god, and if i do not, is it hell the only other choice?
      or can I choose just to rot in the ground and be food for worms?
